- [00:00:09.120]Hello, Welcome to the University of Nebraska Lincoln and to the
- [00:00:13.886]College session for the College of Education and Human Sciences
- [00:00:18.653]for incoming students and their guests to learn more about the
- [00:00:23.345]college at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln.
- [00:00:26.920]There are eight different academic colleges that offer
- [00:00:30.266]degrees to our undergraduate students.
- [00:00:33.040]Those students trying to earn their bachelor's degree or their
- [00:00:36.184]four year degree, their first college degree.
- [00:00:39.040]And each college is going to have a focus area based on the
- [00:00:42.575]academic departments and programs offered by that college
- [00:00:45.992]and the College of Education and Human Sciences.
- [00:00:48.880]We have programs that really help people throughout the
- [00:00:51.872]lifespan and try to improve what's happening in people's
- [00:00:54.919]lives.
- [00:00:55.600]So if that is maybe helping develop safe curriculum and
- [00:01:00.089]educational curriculum for some of our youngest learners in
- [00:01:04.900]early childhood, as well as looking at helping people live
- [00:01:09.630]healthy, productive lives throughout their entire life.
- [00:01:14.680]We have majors that prepare students to go into education,
- [00:01:18.474]healthcare and some of our future entrepreneurs and a
- [00:01:21.946]variety of areas.
- [00:01:23.480]You can also see here on the right hand side of our screen
- [00:01:27.143]some of the grand challenges that our colleges focused on and
- [00:01:30.992]our students.
- [00:01:31.800]You'll see some of this work in your courses as well and it's a
- [00:01:35.108]lot of the research focus of our faculty.
- [00:01:38.280]So in the College of Education and Human Sciences, again, we're
- [00:01:42.064]preparing students who are going to go out into the field to
- [00:01:45.672]become difference makers in these different areas, teacher
- [00:01:49.161]education, human sciences or Human Services, health and
- [00:01:52.472]well-being such as the medical field.
- [00:01:55.240]And also in the area of textiles, merchandising,
- [00:01:58.152]fashion, design, a little bit about the college by the
- [00:02:01.420]numbers, we're not the biggest college, we're not the smallest
- [00:02:05.164]college.
- [00:02:05.920]I like to say we're just right in size.
- [00:02:07.760]We have about 2400 undergraduate students who are pursuing their
- [00:02:11.660]degree with us.
- [00:02:12.880]Our college does have 7 departments, but five
- [00:02:15.621]departments that offer those undergraduate degrees and then
- [00:02:19.197]we have about 30 or so majors or academic programs is how we
- [00:02:22.832]refer to them that students will specialize and earn their
- [00:02:26.348]bachelor's degree in.
- [00:02:28.200]We are a college that is spread across 3 campuses, those 3
- [00:02:31.826]campuses all being here in Lincoln.
- [00:02:34.560]We have academic space and facilities on city campus, which
- [00:02:38.767]is what people think of as our main campus, East Campus which
- [00:02:43.115]is close to 33rd and Holdred St.
- [00:02:45.360]if you're familiar with Lincoln, about 10 blocks away from City
- [00:02:48.848]campus, it's a quick little bus ride.
- [00:02:51.520]And then there's also some class based research space on
- [00:02:54.868]Innovation campus, which is just north of our campus.
- [00:02:58.480]Also, our college has a really strong commitment to making sure
- [00:03:01.422]our students who do want to graduate in four years can do
- [00:03:04.090]that.
- [00:03:04.600]And we do graduate students from the university at a higher four
- [00:03:08.279]year graduation average than the overall university.
- [00:03:12.480]Now our students who are here to become students in the College
- [00:03:16.993]of Education and Human Sciences, you're going to be studying a
- [00:03:21.435]variety of things from nutrition, hospitality,
- [00:03:24.749]teaching, textiles, communication, sciences and
- [00:03:28.134]disorders.
- [00:03:28.840]Lots of different areas.
- [00:03:30.440]No matter which degree you're in, each of our degrees are
- [00:03:33.081]going to have some of the same components.
- [00:03:35.360]Most of our degrees here at the University Nebraska, Lincoln are
- [00:03:38.900]going to be 120 credit hours.
- [00:03:40.880]A credit hour is the measurement for how much time you're
- [00:03:44.774]spending in the classroom with a faculty related to your class
- [00:03:49.004]that you're taking.
- [00:03:50.720]And so most of those classes are going to be 3 credit classes.
- [00:03:54.360]Sometimes they'll be four or five credits depending on the
- [00:03:57.882]setup of the class, if it's a lecture or if it's a lecture
- [00:04:01.404]with the lab, if it's a science class or has a hands on
- [00:04:04.747]component or practicum.
- [00:04:06.520]But all those classes together combined to that 120 hours for
- [00:04:10.066]you to earn your degree.
- [00:04:11.840]Now, it is important to note, we do have two programs that we
- [00:04:15.661]have special permission to require students to take more
- [00:04:19.175]than that 120 credit hours.
- [00:04:21.520]And those are our elementary education early childhood major
- [00:04:25.211]and our elementary education special education major.
- [00:04:28.760]Both of those are one major, each one is 1 major.
- [00:04:32.960]But as students graduate and they're recommended for teacher
- [00:04:36.010]certification, they're recommended for two certificates
- [00:04:38.810]from Nebraska Department of Education.
- [00:04:41.040]That's why we have a little bit of flexibility to have those
- [00:04:43.928]programs over that 120 credit hours.
- [00:04:46.520]And so those are still programs that students do graduate often
- [00:04:49.453]in four years, that those students have some semesters
- [00:04:51.974]that might be a little more full than some of our other students.
- [00:04:55.720]So no matter if you're going to study nutrition, textiles,
- [00:04:58.663]communication sciences, disorders, or education, you're
- [00:05:01.457]going to have some degree components that are going to be
- [00:05:04.350]the same.
- [00:05:05.160]Everyone's foundation of their degree is going to be ace
- [00:05:07.725]achievement centered education.
- [00:05:09.320]We sometimes talk about that as general education.
- [00:05:12.160]One thing I really appreciate about our general education here
- [00:05:15.224]at the University of Nebraska Lincoln is it's integrated into
- [00:05:18.240]your actual major related courses often and so some of
- [00:05:20.915]those ACE courses will be throughout your time here at the
- [00:05:23.784]university.
- [00:05:24.680]That means in your first semester, you're likely to still
- [00:05:27.412]have some major specific courses, which is the next
- [00:05:29.862]component of your degree.
- [00:05:31.400]So these are going to be the courses that are most likely
- [00:05:34.106]offered by the academic department where your major is.
- [00:05:37.040]So you'll have course headings like Hospitality, Children,
- [00:05:40.411]Youth and Family, Nutrition, Teaching Textiles, all these
- [00:05:43.725]different areas we offer courses in.
- [00:05:46.160]That's where your major courses are going to fall into.
- [00:05:49.280]Then depending on your degree, you're going to have some
- [00:05:52.357]additional components besides ACE and your major specific
- [00:05:55.488]courses.
- [00:05:55.920]You might have some supporting courses, content courses if
- [00:05:59.348]you're going into education selectives, which are kind of
- [00:06:02.719]your kind of free choice depending on how you want to use
- [00:06:06.090]your degree, but require major related classes.
- [00:06:09.240]And then some of our majors are going to require a minor and
- [00:06:12.397]that could help fill your 120 credit hours to graduation.
- [00:06:15.720]And other programs might not have a minor, but you could
- [00:06:18.372]choose to add in a minor to your degree.
- [00:06:21.040]And then we also have what we call electives.
- [00:06:23.520]Electives are just any college level credit to help you meet
- [00:06:27.253]that 120 credit hours.
- [00:06:29.240]Electives are something you'll learn more about too when you're
- [00:06:31.686]talking with your advisor.
- [00:06:33.400]Cause again, some of our majors are full majors and there's not
- [00:06:37.282]the need for any electives.
- [00:06:38.920]And then we have other majors where there's a handful
- [00:06:41.693]electives or a good number of electives.
- [00:06:43.800]So each program's a little bit different, but those are the
- [00:06:47.457]different kind of degree components of any of our
- [00:06:50.504]academic majors.
- [00:06:52.600]We want all of our students to be successful who come here to
- [00:06:55.722]the University of Nebraska, Lincoln and we see great success
- [00:06:58.794]with grade point average and timeline to graduation with our
- [00:07:01.866]students.
- [00:07:02.840]This past fall, over 45% of our students were on the Dean's
- [00:07:06.564]list, which for our college is a 3.75 semester grade point
- [00:07:10.227]average being a full time student.
- [00:07:12.720]So you're really joining a great group of students.
- [00:07:16.000]Some cues for students and guests to remember around
- [00:07:19.423]planning for academic success often comes down to these three
- [00:07:23.427]things.
- [00:07:24.760]So full time student status, full time students.
- [00:07:28.040]You have to be enrolled at least in 12 credit hours to be
- [00:07:31.272]considered a full time student.
- [00:07:33.400]Full time student status matters for some logistics reasons like
- [00:07:37.772]living on campus, being eligible for scholarship and financial
- [00:07:42.010]aid.
- [00:07:42.800]Sometimes if you're participating in some activities
- [00:07:45.474]that require you to be a full time student, students can take
- [00:07:48.603]more than 12 credit hours and we'll talk about that in just a
- [00:07:51.732]minute, but usually at least 12 credit hours to be a full time
- [00:07:54.912]college student.
- [00:07:56.480]Also, we want to make sure you stay in good academic standing.
- [00:07:59.560]Good academic standing at the university just means you're
- [00:08:02.481]making academic progress.
- [00:08:04.120]You're not on academic warning and you are earning the grades
- [00:08:08.949]you need and the classes for your specific program.
- [00:08:13.880]Sometimes students can struggle a little bit in their first year
- [00:08:17.317]at the university, maybe their first semester or sometimes even
- [00:08:20.702]second semester after a really strong smart start.
- [00:08:24.040]It's important to know that in our college we have a really
- [00:08:26.937]hands on approach as someone struggled academically to make
- [00:08:29.835]sure that we can help you in that first semester or second
- [00:08:32.685]semester.
- [00:08:33.120]When that happens to to learn what we can maybe do to have
- [00:08:37.384]better academic success from a grade point average standpoint
- [00:08:41.865]in that next semester, being a full time student earning good
- [00:08:46.346]grades and all those things that go along with earning good
- [00:08:50.683]grades really lead to that on time graduation.
- [00:08:54.080]So as I said earlier, our college has a high rate of
- [00:08:56.836]students who graduate in four years.
- [00:08:58.760]So that is your goal, whether if it's the person who's paying the
- [00:09:01.722]bill, it's their goal or if it's to you as a student your goal
- [00:09:04.549]and you want to get right out into the world of work or move
- [00:09:07.287]on to your next degree.
- [00:09:08.320]If you're going on to graduate or professional school, we can
- [00:09:11.611]definitely make sure that if you are again a full time student
- [00:09:14.955]and you're earning all the credits you're taking and
- [00:09:17.768]earning those great grades on time.
- [00:09:19.680]Graduation is something that we're really committed to
- [00:09:22.711]supporting you and your efforts towards and reaching that goal.
- [00:09:27.720]One way we support you here in the College of Education and
- [00:09:31.029]Human Sciences to make sure that you're having a good academic
- [00:09:34.505]experience is through academic advising at the university.
- [00:09:37.760]You're going to meet a lot of people who are here to support
- [00:09:40.854]you and help you, and we have really great faculty in our
- [00:09:43.796]college, but your advisor is going to be kind of that
- [00:09:46.535]constant person you work with throughout your degree program.
- [00:09:50.120]In our college we have an assigned academic advising
- [00:09:52.727]model, meaning you'll have the same academic advisor the whole
- [00:09:55.825]way through your degree program.
- [00:09:57.840]Advisors work in specific major areas and so they work with
- [00:10:02.288]related majors.
- [00:10:03.400]So if you move from nutrition, from pre physical therapy to
- [00:10:06.552]nutrition, exercise, Health Science, or community health and
- [00:10:09.757]Wellness, where sometimes students will shuffle around to
- [00:10:12.805]find the right major for what their career or Graduate School
- [00:10:16.062]goals are, you'll stay with the same advisor.
- [00:10:19.040]If you make a radical change change maybe from textiles to
- [00:10:22.061]communication sciences and disorders, you must.
- [00:10:24.600]You most likely will change advisors to that advisor who
- [00:10:27.711]works in that area within our college.
- [00:10:30.720]So you'll know who your advisor is when you have your first
- [00:10:33.623]advising appointment, and then that's the same person you'll
- [00:10:36.575]meet with on a semesterly basis to check in about how the
- [00:10:39.382]current semester is going and make a plan for the next
- [00:10:42.044]semester.
- [00:10:43.080]Students will have access to their advisor's calendars after
- [00:10:46.567]they have signed up for classes the first time through the
- [00:10:49.941]advising Appointment Association with NSC.
- [00:10:53.000]So normally during the school year students will do what we
- [00:10:55.781]call drop in appointments where they just pop into our office
- [00:10:58.654]for assistance or they have access to our calendar where
- [00:11:01.296]they can pick to have an in person or a zoom meeting.
- [00:11:04.720]Students should see their advisors around these times here
- [00:11:07.505]on the right class registration, developing a long range plan.
- [00:11:11.080]If you're struggling in a class and you don't know where to get
- [00:11:14.329]assistance or you want help in reaching out to your professor
- [00:11:17.476]and want to kind of role play how that conversation might go,
- [00:11:20.624]we're glad to help you in advising with that.
- [00:11:23.280]Also, if you're interested in adding a degree component like a
- [00:11:26.434]minor or possibly another major, that's a good time to talk to
- [00:11:29.589]your advisor.
- [00:11:30.520]And if you're planning on some type of opportunity where you
- [00:11:33.404]might be away from the obviously for your learning like education
- [00:11:36.526]abroad, it's great if we can plan that ahead as well.
- [00:11:39.320]So we make sure not to impede your timeline to graduation
- [00:11:44.375]students.
- [00:11:45.240]When you sign up for your advising and for your classes
- [00:11:48.776]for the first semester, you're going to do that this summer
- [00:11:52.564]through the Advising appointment with new student enrollment.
- [00:11:57.200]Advising can happen before or after you complete orientation.
- [00:12:01.960]Most of our advising appointments are going to start
- [00:12:05.207]late May and run through about mid-july to sign up for your new
- [00:12:09.128]Student Enrollment Advising appointment.
- [00:12:11.640]You're going to do that on my Red under the Academics tab
- [00:12:15.400]where you signed up for orientation.
- [00:12:18.240]And before you can actually pick a day and time to meet with your
- [00:12:21.667]advisor, you're going to do some pre advising activities.
- [00:12:25.200]All students have to complete the advising inventory and the
- [00:12:28.878]math placement exam so they can sign up for their advising
- [00:12:32.436]appointment.
- [00:12:33.600]Some students who plan to go into a major that's going to
- [00:12:37.399]require a foreign language or modern language might choose to
- [00:12:41.461]take the modern language exam, but if you don't plan on
- [00:12:45.130]continuing with another language, you don't have to take
- [00:12:48.864]that exam.
- [00:12:50.400]When you sign up for that advising appointment, you can
- [00:12:53.470]come to our offices, where you'll see us throughout your
- [00:12:56.596]degree program and meet with your advisor in person for
- [00:12:59.666]academic advising, or you are welcome to have that appointment
- [00:13:03.121]by Zoom.
- [00:13:04.360]Zoom is super handy, since the student is going to need to be
- [00:13:07.229]on a computer to actually sign up for classes during the
- [00:13:09.868]advising appointment.
- [00:13:11.560]So as long as you're on not your phone or an iPad, but probably
- [00:13:14.992]an actual computer for that Zoom appointment, that works just
- [00:13:18.318]fine for your first advising appointment as well.
- [00:13:21.480]Whether if you come in person to our office or you hop on Zoom
- [00:13:24.768]for your advising appointment, students must be able to access
- [00:13:28.056]and log into My Red on their own for their advising appointment
- [00:13:31.396]because you'll actually be signing up for classes in that
- [00:13:34.423]advising appointment.
- [00:13:36.400]Once students are matriculated at the university and are
- [00:13:41.243]earning their degree, sometimes communication between advising
- [00:13:46.597]and parents or those support people for students becomes a
- [00:13:51.610]little more something.
- [00:13:53.480]We're a little more cautious about that first advising
- [00:13:56.730]appointment.
- [00:13:57.440]Though.
- [00:13:58.000]Parents or whoever your support person might be are welcome to
- [00:14:02.281]enjoy to join in on that first advising session and to hear
- [00:14:06.358]about the students degree program and ask questions.
- [00:14:09.960]So we're we're glad to have anyone who is interested in
- [00:14:13.242]supporting that process in that first advising appointment.
- [00:14:18.160]Your academic advisor oftentimes again is going to be that one
- [00:14:21.461]person who supports you throughout your time at the
- [00:14:24.186]university as you're pursuing your degree.
- [00:14:26.440]But I want to let you know, we have really great people here in
- [00:14:30.135]the college beyond our academic advisors.
- [00:14:32.920]So here where you see the picture where you might see
- [00:14:35.802]these little dairy store coupons, sometimes our faculty
- [00:14:38.792]and our department chairs and even our Dean, who you'll hear
- [00:14:42.048]from at the end of our session, will give out these dairy store
- [00:14:45.464]coupons so you can go get ice cream.
- [00:14:48.040]But our faculty, staff and department chairs are really
- [00:14:51.020]concerned about our students wanting you to have a great
- [00:14:54.054]experience.
- [00:14:55.160]They want to hear about what you're learning and hear about
- [00:14:57.686]your challenges.
- [00:14:59.120]And there's just really great faculty here to support you.
- [00:15:02.320]We also, along in the space where we have advisors, we also
- [00:15:05.238]have other staff members who are here to help you.
- [00:15:08.040]So we have career coaches who are here to help you understand
- [00:15:11.558]about different internships you might want to look at.
- [00:15:14.680]Or if you're getting ready for that first job search, they can
- [00:15:18.320]do a mock interview with you or help review a resume, help you
- [00:15:21.960]look at a cover letter or a personal statement if you're
- [00:15:25.253]applying to grad school.
- [00:15:26.640]So we have career coaches right in our same space as the
- [00:15:29.387]advisors to help you.
- [00:15:30.400]And then we also have an academic navigator who's here to
- [00:15:34.115]help you with maybe some of those skills that maybe you
- [00:15:37.703]might need to strengthen or develop new skills when you
- [00:15:41.290]start your college level classes based on just being ready for
- [00:15:45.326]college level learning.
- [00:15:48.120]We always do like to encourage our students to consider
- [00:15:50.943]education abroad.
- [00:15:52.240]This summer we have students who are traveling with faculty to
- [00:15:56.075]Japan and to Brazil and a few other countries where they're
- [00:15:59.727]earning credit related to their actual academic degree,
- [00:16:03.136]traveling with other students and actually traveling with
- [00:16:06.667]their faculty and really having a great time seeing their degree
- [00:16:10.624]program in action.
- [00:16:12.000]So if you're interested in education abroad, always let
- [00:16:14.817]your advisor know that so he can talk about one a great time and
- [00:16:18.087]your four year degree plan is to do that.
- [00:16:20.480]Education abroad and our college is often done in early summer or
- [00:16:25.338]over the winter break, or over the spring break, so often does
- [00:16:29.975]not impede that timeline to graduation.
- [00:16:33.200]If you're doing education abroad and our college, we know you
- [00:16:37.566]can't have all your time dedicated to being a student.
- [00:16:41.440]Even though we know being a college student is a full time
- [00:16:44.557]job, we definitely encourage you to find ways to get involved on
- [00:16:47.992]campus and in the community of Lincoln so it feels like your
- [00:16:51.215]home.
- [00:16:51.480]If this isn't your hometown, we want it to feel that way to you.
- [00:16:55.200]But we'd also encourage you to get involved in different
- [00:16:58.134]organizations related to maybe your major or the college.
- [00:17:01.760]Here are some images of some of the regular events we have for
- [00:17:04.700]students.
- [00:17:05.120]So we'll have a welcome back event for students where you're
- [00:17:08.561]going to meet lots of people, freshman welcome events and then
- [00:17:12.114]just lots of fun opportunities can act with other students and
- [00:17:15.668]faculty.
- [00:17:16.120]Staff in the college can always pick up a free T-shirt and some
- [00:17:19.514]food at those events too.
- [00:17:20.840]So they're really great to go to.
- [00:17:24.200]So for students who are completing orientation online or
- [00:17:27.916]for students and guests that wanted to come back and just
- [00:17:31.698]look at this information again.
- [00:17:34.000]Keep in mind, orientation happens in the summer for new
- [00:17:37.168]student enrollment, and so does that academic advising
- [00:17:40.280]appointment.
- [00:17:41.560]After students have done their advising appointment, you will
- [00:17:44.881]get access to setting up your Husker e-mail account.
- [00:17:48.240]Once you do that, it's super important that you check that
- [00:17:51.133]e-mail on a weekly basis.
- [00:17:52.720]If there was going to be something that we needed to
- [00:17:55.967]reach you for in regards to a change with your schedule, that
- [00:17:59.767]might be necessary or a question we had.
- [00:18:02.840]That's the e-mail address we'll be communicating to you with and
- [00:18:05.818]the one your faculty will use in the future.
- [00:18:07.880]So it's just a good idea to get used to checking that on a
- [00:18:10.567]weekly basis.
- [00:18:11.760]Also, if you decide after you have your advising appointment
- [00:18:16.085]that you want to change your major, add a minor.
- [00:18:19.880]Make a change in a class to to maybe match a better schedule
- [00:18:23.034]with your roommate or a friend, please just reach out to your
- [00:18:26.240]academic advisor.
- [00:18:27.120]If you make a change, you can definitely make changes to your
- [00:18:30.600]enrollment for the fall semester over the summer and through the
- [00:18:34.249]first week of classes with no financial penalty.
- [00:18:37.480]But we just want to make sure that the change you're making is
- [00:18:40.360]the change that you intend to make and that it's not causing
- [00:18:43.148]some other challenges down the line.
- [00:18:46.440]There will be a orientation course that opens up in August
- [00:18:49.965]and academic advisors will talk to you about that and I'll also
- [00:18:53.789]send you some emails about it as well.
- [00:18:56.360]It's a zero credit our course, meaning it doesn't charge you
- [00:18:59.651]anything, but it does go in your transcript.
- [00:19:02.080]So it is a class you'll want to go ahead and complete.
- [00:19:04.840]It's really just a class that's set up to help you be a ready
- [00:19:09.615]prepared student using in our technology that we use here at
- [00:19:14.314]the university on your first day here on campus and then for the
- [00:19:19.321]fall semester.
- [00:19:20.400]Classes will start on Monday, August 26th and advisors will be
- [00:19:25.034]emailing you and reaching out to you before school starts and
- [00:19:29.594]around as school starts.
- [00:19:31.360]If there's anything we can help you with.
- [00:19:33.840]So those are some good dates to keep in mind.
- [00:19:36.520]Before we wrap up the video, I do want to show you a quick
- [00:19:40.969]welcome and some great advice from our Dean, Doctor Nick Pace.
- [00:19:51.840]Hi, I'm Nick Pace, and I serve as the interim Dean of the
- [00:19:55.636]College of Education and Human Sciences.
- [00:19:58.880]On behalf of the entire college, I want to welcome you here.
- [00:20:02.840]We're excited to welcome you to campus.
- [00:20:05.840]The College of Education and Human Sciences is a vibrant,
- [00:20:10.626]supportive community of about 3100 students, 214 faculty
- [00:20:15.331]members, and 174 staff who are dedicated to improving the human
- [00:20:20.613]condition and driven to support students.
- [00:20:24.920]We're glad that you're here.
- [00:20:27.200]If I were to share some piece of advice for new students, it
- [00:20:31.972]would be to lean in to the full college experience.
- [00:20:37.080]Seek out new things, new relationships, new
- [00:20:40.721]opportunities.
- [00:20:42.320]You have the opportunity in a robust, vibrant community of
- [00:20:47.360]ideas and people from all walks of life and world class teachers
- [00:20:52.913]and researchers.
- [00:20:54.840]And that's not something you find everywhere.
- [00:20:57.000]And it's right here before you, in the college and on campus,
- [00:21:01.546]seize those opportunities and seek out connection to someone
- [00:21:06.020]who came to the university through a different pathway than
- [00:21:10.420]your own.
- [00:21:12.680]If I were to share some advice for parents, it would be to
- [00:21:15.807]encourage your family member to lean into those experiences.
- [00:21:19.560]It would be to ask open-ended questions like what's new?
- [00:21:24.200]What are you learning, what's challenging, what's difficult?
- [00:21:27.720]What has surprised you?
- [00:21:30.160]And encourage your family member to seize all of the
- [00:21:33.563]opportunities that are available on a campus like ours.
- [00:21:38.040]We can't wait to see you around.
- [00:21:39.880]We can't wait to help you get started.
- [00:21:42.840]Find your way.
- [00:21:44.280]We're glad that you're here.
- [00:21:46.360]Go, Big Red.
- [00:21:47.640]Welcome to CHS students.
- [00:21:54.640]You'll see Doctor Pace around, Dean Pace around.
- [00:21:57.960]He's definitely over 6 foot 6 inches, so you'll see him and
- [00:22:02.030]often in a bow tie.
- [00:22:03.320]So when you see him, he's super friendly.
- [00:22:06.120]He does sometimes have ice cream passes in his pocket, so be sure
- [00:22:10.323]to say hi.
- [00:22:10.960]I'm in the College of Education in Human Sciences.
- [00:22:13.880]My name is and this is where I'm from, the one I'm studying.
- [00:22:17.560]He is a very just, generous, kind person, and it's just one
- [00:22:21.820]of the many people who's here working hard to make sure you're
- [00:22:26.293]having the best experience possible.
- [00:22:30.520]As we wrap up, I want to make sure you have my contact
- [00:22:33.540]information.
- [00:22:34.200]So again, for the College of Education and Human Sciences,
- [00:22:37.138]you're welcome to reach out to me, Anne Marie.
- [00:22:40.080]My e-mail address is pretty easy, just my first name,
- [00:22:43.364]anne.marie@unl.edu.
- [00:22:44.880]And then below that is my direct phone number with voicemail set
- [00:22:49.870]up on it 402-472-8643.
- [00:22:51.800]I'm always glad to hear from students.
- [00:22:53.520]I'm also really glad and welcome to talk to Parents or guardians
- [00:22:57.227]Are those adults who might be supporting college students as
- [00:23:00.706]they're earning their degree.
- [00:23:02.640]I know it takes a lot of hands to get students here to the
- [00:23:06.451]university and successfully through the university, so
- [00:23:10.003]please know that I'm always here.
- [00:23:12.200]If you have any questions, I'm glad to help you by listening to
- [00:23:17.090]those questions and trying to answer those questions or maybe
- [00:23:21.827]come back and share some questions with you to help you
- [00:23:26.106]learn more about the situation that a student might be facing.
- [00:23:30.920]So again, always feel free to reach out with any questions or
- [00:23:34.826]concerns you have.
- [00:23:37.440]Thanks so much again for your time and if there is anything we
- [00:23:40.831]can help you with, please just let us know.
