[00:00:11.730]You have wrapped up a fall semester. Congrats.
[00:00:13.830]I have wrapped up a fall semester.
[00:00:15.660]And I've had it seems like every week with you, Greg.
[00:00:17.760]And what am I gonna do for the next two or three weeks
[00:00:19.839]without getting to talk to you and all of your listeners?

[00:00:42.180]and the state of Nebraska and alumni, and research,
[00:00:45.900]and just all the great things we have going on.

[00:00:52.140]broadcast for the year.

[00:00:54.450]How much excitement and glory do you take in seeing
[00:00:58.590]those graduates get their diplomas?
[00:00:59.940]That's gotta be a satisfying feeling.
[00:01:01.410]This is what it's all about.
[00:01:02.580]You know, when you think about the main thing,
[00:01:04.251]this is the main thing,
[00:01:06.420]and that's watching these young people come across the stage
[00:01:10.230]after four years or five years or
[00:01:12.360]however long it's taken 'em to get across the stage
[00:01:14.859]and looking up in the stands and seeing mamas and daddies
[00:01:18.150]and grands and granddaddies and relatives
[00:01:19.788]that are all so proud and honored that their loved one
[00:01:24.610]has earned a college degree.
[00:01:26.938]And it's even more special
[00:01:28.560]when I ask for alumni to stand up.
[00:01:32.610]And you think about the legacy that's here
[00:01:35.550]and the tradition that just goes generations of Nebraskans
[00:01:39.728]and other people from the region who are all a part
[00:01:42.370]of the Husker family.
[00:01:44.190]It's a pretty special moment.
[00:01:45.810]Chancellor, Nebraska Athletics earlier announced that
[00:01:47.969]they had some good GSR numbers.
[00:01:50.538]What does that mean?
[00:01:52.200]And just lay that out for the folks about Husker Athletics
[00:01:54.750]and what it means to have an athletic department
[00:01:56.670]that does well academically.
[00:01:58.260]Well, I think it just speaks volumes to
[00:02:01.619]the commitment of our athletic department,
[00:02:05.880]to our academic advisors, to our coaches,
[00:02:09.450]to Trev Alberts, our Director of Athletics,
[00:02:12.589]to our head coaches,
[00:02:14.269]who are all helping our student athletes
[00:02:17.430]to not only be good at their sport,
[00:02:20.940]which is important, (laughs)
[00:02:23.190]'cause you know, let's not make any mistakes about it,
[00:02:25.260]we wanna win national championships here.
[00:02:27.639]But also just to think about going to school,
[00:02:31.470]going to class every day,
[00:02:32.749]being engaged as a student,
[00:02:35.460]sort of progressing through each of the years
[00:02:39.180]and each of the semesters that ends up in graduation.
[00:02:42.416]And I always say for student athletes,
[00:02:44.960]when you think about the role that they play in helping us
[00:02:49.320]with our graduation rates,
[00:02:51.240]most of the student athletes,
[00:02:53.040]if not all of 'em,
[00:02:54.090]tend to graduate within that four year eligibility window.
[00:02:57.660]So it's just a great example of the way
[00:03:01.350]that athletics is contributing to the larger university
[00:03:05.339]and Husker community.
[00:03:07.350]Well, congratulations to them.
