- [00:00:05.130]We've always kind of looked at AI
- [00:00:06.300]as though it would be kind of this Rosey the robot
- [00:00:08.610]who would go off and go do our bidding force
- [00:00:10.620]with some super intelligence,
- [00:00:11.730]but it's probably not gonna be that way.
- [00:00:13.110]The direction that we're heading is
- [00:00:14.520]that we're gonna have lots of artificial intelligences
- [00:00:16.164]that are interacting with other artificial intelligences
- [00:00:18.570]and other artificial intelligences,
- [00:00:19.950]and it's how do you get all of those to cooperate in a way,
- [00:00:22.260]and how do you legally enforce the decisions that they make?
- [00:00:24.510]Or do you even need to?
- [00:00:25.816](upbeat music)
- [00:00:31.140]This Is the future.
- [00:00:31.973]We're entering into a situation in which a lot
- [00:00:33.810]of our assets are gonna be managed by AI
- [00:00:35.550]because AI can do it more efficiently,
- [00:00:36.840]it can take in more information,
- [00:00:37.860]it can act on real-time information much
- [00:00:40.230]more quickly than humans can.
- [00:00:41.580]And so as we move down that route, we're gonna need more
- [00:00:43.086]and more quick decision making just to keep up
- [00:00:45.450]with our competitors, and we need to have a legal theory
- [00:00:48.210]that can structure all of that and keep humans on top of it.
- [00:00:51.325](upbeat music)
- [00:00:59.874]Corporate theory is important
- [00:01:01.410]because it's how we work together on anything
- [00:01:03.870]that requires more than one person.
- [00:01:05.310]Most of the things we do in life are people working together
- [00:01:07.590]on different things, and so corporate theory
- [00:01:10.140]is the collection of ideas on
- [00:01:11.730]how we get people who are self interested
- [00:01:14.790]and focused on their own gain to work for the benefit
- [00:01:17.370]of other people, and then taking those corporate theories
- [00:01:19.890]and then tying them together and applying them
- [00:01:21.270]to a corporation or applying them
- [00:01:22.912]to artificial intelligence is very important
- [00:01:25.140]because most AI are going to be working in a form
- [00:01:27.690]that probably resembles corporate life.
- [00:01:29.914](keyboard clacking)
- [00:01:31.500]With AI being such a hot button topic right now,
- [00:01:33.330]I'm concerned that we're going to move too quickly,
- [00:01:35.580]and I'm also concerned that we won't move at all.
- [00:01:38.573](upbeat music)
- [00:01:43.890]This research is important right now
- [00:01:45.420]because we're about to make some big decisions on
- [00:01:47.160]how we treat AI and how that affects humanity,
- [00:01:49.470]and we need to get it right.
