- [00:00:00.136](spooky upbeat music)
- [00:00:02.160]Welcome back.
- [00:00:03.360]The next we have is an apple barley old fashioned,
- [00:00:05.880]perfect for those who prefer a bit of complexity
- [00:00:07.950]in their drinks.
- [00:00:09.090]This one takes a little bit longer to set up,
- [00:00:11.310]but is delicious and your guests will like them.
- [00:00:14.730]The ingredients that we'll be using for this one
- [00:00:16.260]is a strong-brewed chilled barley tea.
- [00:00:19.230]By doing so, we add one ounce to the drink
- [00:00:21.690]of the barley tea in order for it to work.
- [00:00:24.900]I usually measure it out by eyeballing it.
- [00:00:26.850]So one ounce is usually just a quick pour,
- [00:00:29.010]simple as that.
- [00:00:29.940]Much like you would do a little less than a alcoholic shot.
- [00:00:33.390]At that point, then we add our Angostura bitters.
- [00:00:37.020]Give it a dash just to give it a little flavor.
- [00:00:39.420]Maybe one more dash.
- [00:00:42.240]At that point, we will then take
- [00:00:43.920]and use our molasses bitters.
- [00:00:45.720]We're gonna do a little bit more
- [00:00:46.860]'cause the molasses gives it that sweet flavor
- [00:00:48.630]that we're looking for.
- [00:00:49.470]So we're gonna give it about five.
- [00:00:51.240]So let's give it a little bit of a shake up.
- [00:00:52.830]One, two, three, four, five, six out, there we go.
- [00:00:56.490]Five dashes.
- [00:00:57.810]A quarter ounce of simple syrup.
- [00:00:59.700]Simple syrup, as all you know, gives it that sweet taste.
- [00:01:06.810]A little bit of that.
- [00:01:09.300]We're gonna actually then, at this point,
- [00:01:11.160]which is in here,
- [00:01:11.993]is we're gonna add some apple cider to the mix.
- [00:01:15.390]The apple cider also gives it a little bit more body
- [00:01:17.550]and shape and it's delicious,
- [00:01:19.290]Please go to your favorite apple cider that you see.
- [00:01:21.210]Any grocery store will have it.
- [00:01:22.860]But you add that in from there.
- [00:01:27.810]To garnish it off, we take our nice lemon peel,
- [00:01:33.360]add our cherries that we had from our first one,
- [00:01:36.600]so you can reuse your cherries.
- [00:01:38.430]Much like any old fashioned would have.
- [00:01:41.760]And then if you were like me
- [00:01:42.810]and you like a little bit of carbonation or fizz,
- [00:01:46.170]add a little bit of club soda just to dash it out
- [00:01:48.660]just so you have that fizz in the drink.
- [00:01:51.120]Mix it in, stir it up, and go from there.
- [00:01:54.570]Just as a reminder,
- [00:01:55.410]all of these ingredients were either found
- [00:01:56.850]at your local grocery store
- [00:01:58.020]or through an online discount marketer,
- [00:02:00.390]like Amazon or Spreetail, things of that nature.
