- [00:00:04.350]I would say my overall mood has,
- [00:00:08.610]like, my stress level has gone down.
- [00:00:10.950]Yeah. Like, he is so much calmer,
- [00:00:13.380]I am so much calmer. Yeah.
- [00:00:15.120]Like, we just don't have this tension
- [00:00:16.440]that we used to have.
- [00:00:17.310]I agree, for sure.
- [00:00:19.661]Like, I don't feel stressed coming to work with him,
- [00:00:21.900]because you don't know what he is gonna do,
- [00:00:23.880]you don't know how many people
- [00:00:24.840]we're gonna need at any moment.
- [00:00:27.720]I'm not constantly calling on the walkie for help.
- [00:00:30.056]Yeah, yep.
- [00:00:32.370]Honestly, it's been amazing,
- [00:00:33.390]like, I think he's happier,
- [00:00:35.940]he's more engaged.
- [00:00:37.710]Yeah.
- [00:00:38.543]For my student,
- [00:00:39.930]I feel like it gave her exactly what she was wanting.
- [00:00:44.490]And for me, I got the work out of her,
- [00:00:47.850]because she was earning towards what she wanted.
- [00:00:51.300]Through her perspective, I think she trusts me more.
- [00:00:54.780]You feel that she had,
- [00:00:56.580]did she maintain those skills of communication toleration
- [00:01:00.570]and cooperation over the summer?
- [00:01:02.580]Every bit of it.
- [00:01:04.830]Yes, she retained all of it. That's awesome.
- [00:01:06.960]And that was one of the things
- [00:01:08.310]she was looking forward to when school started.
- [00:01:19.020]She was really aggressive.
- [00:01:21.660]I think like, my staff,
- [00:01:23.550]so the paras were scared to work with her,
- [00:01:26.400]I was scared to work with her sometimes
- [00:01:28.770]because she was very aggressive.
- [00:01:30.870]And we have seen a tremendous difference.
- [00:01:35.610]I'm the one that runs her program,
- [00:01:37.230]but even when she's working with paras
- [00:01:39.180]or other staff members, she's way less aggressive.
- [00:01:42.390]she's using her words more,
- [00:01:44.160]she's requesting things more,
- [00:01:50.100]she doesn't revert to aggression hardly at all,
- [00:01:55.410]which has been huge.
- [00:01:58.410]Her relationships with me
- [00:01:59.940]and with other people in the building have improved.
- [00:02:03.660]It gave us a fresh start as a team.
- [00:02:06.600]This training really helped revitalize energy
- [00:02:08.730]for our team and provided a shift in perspective
- [00:02:11.070]and treatment when working with students
- [00:02:12.720]with behavior needs.
- [00:02:15.180]We started the PFA process last spring
- [00:02:17.460]with a kindergarten student, non-verbal, autistic,
- [00:02:21.330]some pretty extreme behaviors,
- [00:02:23.670]defiant, aggressive, self-harm, flopping,
- [00:02:27.600]just kind of all the things.
- [00:02:28.980]And since we've started this process with him,
- [00:02:32.490]the amount of growth has been absolutely amazing.
- [00:02:36.390]Makes me bring tears to my eyes.
- [00:02:38.310]It's just so cool to not only see the growth
- [00:02:40.320]and to see how far he's come already,
- [00:02:43.470]but just to be a part of this process
- [00:02:45.000]has just been such an amazing experience.
- [00:02:49.410]We're pulling in some more peer time,
- [00:02:50.970]he's getting interactions multiple times throughout the day.
- [00:02:53.310]He is successfully attending specials with his class.
- [00:02:57.660]We're able to take him outside for recess,
- [00:03:01.530]just kind of all the things.
- [00:03:02.910]He's working at his table spot without flopping,
- [00:03:06.930]he's using his device, he's able to complete multiple tasks.
- [00:03:10.500]It has truly made a difference with this kid
- [00:03:13.050]and I am so excited to continue this process with him
- [00:03:16.110]and see where we end up.
- [00:03:17.640]And as well as, I wanna keep going with more kiddos.
- [00:03:20.640]It's just so amazing, so amazing.
- [00:03:23.520]Doing the My Way sessions with my student
- [00:03:25.320]has helped tremendously.
- [00:03:27.630]It has given us a common language to use,
- [00:03:29.820]both in sessions and in the classroom.
- [00:03:32.580]It's given him the ability to tell us how he's feeling
- [00:03:36.750]before getting to major problem behavior.
- [00:03:39.570]It's helped him to grow in his skills and his abilities
- [00:03:43.770]and he is starting to transition back to his classroom,
- [00:03:46.740]which I do not think would've been possible
- [00:03:48.660]without the My Way sessions.
- [00:03:50.940]It has been great.
- [00:03:51.773]It's given us an amazing relationship
- [00:03:53.940]and it has helped kind of set those building blocks
- [00:03:56.010]for his continued success.
- [00:04:02.520]Hi, so I'm making this short clip
- [00:04:06.480]to talk about progress I've seen in my son
- [00:04:08.940]since he began working with My Way.
- [00:04:11.610]He began displaying some pretty extreme behaviors
- [00:04:15.870]when he didn't understand directions
- [00:04:18.870]or thought that he was following them.
- [00:04:23.310]Since utilizing My Way,
- [00:04:24.780]he's gotten better at verbalizing
- [00:04:27.330]when he is getting upset and agitated.
- [00:04:31.560]He's getting better at asking for breaks reasonably,
- [00:04:36.330]and he is excelled in most of the things he is been doing.
- [00:04:40.260]So we're really happy with the progress we've seen.
- [00:04:42.480]Thank you.
- [00:04:43.770]How has skill-based treatment
- [00:04:45.600]helped you here at middle school?
- [00:04:47.850]It's helped me take breaks easier,
- [00:04:51.120]and it is very helpful,
- [00:04:55.110]'cause I'm starting to basically be to get my work done,
- [00:04:58.980]and it'll help me to get more work done
- [00:05:01.920]and I'll be able to have a little fun in it.
- [00:05:04.407]And it helps me have a little positive outlook
- [00:05:07.200]on my school days.
- [00:05:09.000]I play on my iPad and do some games,
- [00:05:11.970]and also, I have to do some stuff
- [00:05:16.590]when Mr. Selvy gets up and says to go to a desk.
- [00:05:21.630]Well, do you think doing these sessions
- [00:05:24.240]with Mr. Selvy has helped you?
- [00:05:26.640]Yeah.
- [00:05:27.510]How have they helped you?
- [00:05:29.280]Yesterday, I got 100%.
- [00:05:32.250]So your behavior's getting better at school?
- [00:05:34.350]Yeah.
- [00:05:35.183]Oh. Are you happy at school?
- [00:05:36.855]Mhm.
- [00:05:37.688]Do you like coming to school every day?
- [00:05:39.095]Mhm.
