- [00:00:06.300]Hello, my name's AnnMarie Gottner,
- [00:00:07.890]and I am the senior director of student services
- [00:00:10.590]for the College of Education and Human Sciences.
- [00:00:13.800]And I'm excited to share with you some information
- [00:00:16.440]that will help you or your student feel confident
- [00:00:20.610]about joining us for the next semester as a college student
- [00:00:24.510]here in the College of Education and Human Sciences
- [00:00:26.820]at the University of Nebraska Lincoln.
- [00:00:29.670]The College of Education and Human Sciences
- [00:00:32.010]is one of eight academic colleges
- [00:00:34.680]at the University of Nebraska Lincoln.
- [00:00:36.690]I always like to say we're just right in size.
- [00:00:38.730]We're not the smallest college,
- [00:00:39.990]we're not the biggest college,
- [00:00:41.190]but we have about 2,400 students.
- [00:00:44.160]Generally, our freshman class
- [00:00:45.750]for the College of Education and Human Sciences
- [00:00:48.780]is about 400 to 450 freshmen.
- [00:00:52.170]At the university in general,
- [00:00:53.340]there's usually about 4,500 freshmen
- [00:00:56.280]so about 10% of the college population
- [00:00:58.740]for first-year students,
- [00:01:00.270]but we're a college
- [00:01:01.103]that a lot of students discover once they're here
- [00:01:03.720]and will transfer into majors with us.
- [00:01:05.850]So we're really glad that you're starting here with us.
- [00:01:09.750]We do have five departments
- [00:01:11.730]that offer students bachelor's degrees
- [00:01:14.400]or that undergraduate degree, that first-time degree,
- [00:01:17.970]and in those five departments,
- [00:01:19.440]there's about 30 different majors
- [00:01:21.390]or program options that you can consider.
- [00:01:25.170]And we are a college that is spread across
- [00:01:28.560]the University of Nebraska Lincoln campus.
- [00:01:31.410]So UNL has facilities on City Campus,
- [00:01:35.370]which is kind of the main campus most students are focused
- [00:01:38.790]and experienced with.
- [00:01:41.010]And we also have classes
- [00:01:42.810]and department offices on East Campus,
- [00:01:45.570]which is about 10 to 12 blocks away from City Campus,
- [00:01:49.170]with a bus that runs between the two campuses.
- [00:01:51.990]And we do have some classes on Innovation Campus,
- [00:01:55.920]which is down by the Bob Devaney
- [00:01:57.840]and is within walking distance of City Campus.
- [00:02:01.800]While there's diversity among our majors
- [00:02:04.020]for students who might be interested in hospitality,
- [00:02:06.780]textile, careers in teaching, helping skills,
- [00:02:10.800]pre-health programs, and nutrition,
- [00:02:13.470]all of our majors have some things in common.
- [00:02:15.990]We have a lot of focus on making sure
- [00:02:17.880]that students are ready to go right into the world of work
- [00:02:20.880]if that is their goal.
- [00:02:22.140]And then we also have a lot of focus
- [00:02:23.670]for students who might be in majors
- [00:02:25.170]that are better pathways for going on to grad school
- [00:02:27.810]or professional school to get them ready.
- [00:02:30.630]We feel those hands-on experiences are super important
- [00:02:33.690]for all of our undergraduates,
- [00:02:35.280]no matter what they're studying.
- [00:02:36.780]So in your major,
- [00:02:37.613]you're gonna find that you have opportunities
- [00:02:39.300]for hands-on experiences through your learning
- [00:02:42.120]with things like internships, practicums,
- [00:02:45.000]clinicals, and research opportunities.
- [00:02:48.330]The College of Education and Human Sciences
- [00:02:50.430]is really committed to four-year graduation.
- [00:02:53.640]We know sometimes, as an incoming student on a scholarship,
- [00:02:57.210]you might choose to plan to be
- [00:02:58.590]at the university a little bit longer,
- [00:03:00.300]whereas a transfer student,
- [00:03:01.530]sometimes that four-year graduation
- [00:03:04.110]is more challenging to meet
- [00:03:05.490]when you've navigated not only one school but two schools.
- [00:03:08.910]But we try to make sure that our programs are built in ways
- [00:03:11.400]that students can make that four-year graduation
- [00:03:14.520]if they have that as a goal,
- [00:03:16.980]and we'll talk with their academic advisor
- [00:03:19.830]to make sure they can make that happen.
- [00:03:23.250]All of our degrees, no matter if you want to be a teacher
- [00:03:27.000]or a future athletic trainer
- [00:03:29.520]or go into the area of being a buyer
- [00:03:32.490]in the area of textiles,
- [00:03:34.590]no matter your major,
- [00:03:35.460]there's gonna be some components that are gonna be the same.
- [00:03:38.490]So everyone's degree
- [00:03:40.110]in the College of Education and Human Sciences
- [00:03:42.690]is gonna be at least 120 credit hours.
- [00:03:45.930]A credit hour is the actual measurement
- [00:03:47.820]of how long a student is in class
- [00:03:50.130]with the faculty member on a weekly basis.
- [00:03:53.880]So a common class like composition English
- [00:03:57.660]might be a three-credit hour class,
- [00:03:59.790]meaning a student would meet
- [00:04:00.840]with their professor Monday, Wednesday, Friday for an hour,
- [00:04:03.810]or maybe they meet Tuesday, Thursday for an hour and a half,
- [00:04:06.720]or maybe it would be a Wednesday afternoon class
- [00:04:09.300]or a full online class where they get
- [00:04:11.190]that three hours of content.
- [00:04:13.020]So you take all those credit hours
- [00:04:14.610]and you add them up to make sure you have 120 credit hours
- [00:04:18.360]to meet the credit hour requirement to graduation.
- [00:04:21.810]Now, there are specific credit hours you need
- [00:04:23.670]within that 120 credit hours,
- [00:04:25.440]and they break down into the categories
- [00:04:27.300]you see here on the screen.
- [00:04:28.920]ACE is achievements centered education at UNL.
- [00:04:32.250]That's what we refer to as our general education.
- [00:04:35.610]One thing I really love about our general education
- [00:04:37.600]is it is very fairly streamlined.
- [00:04:40.590]It's only 30 credit hours.
- [00:04:42.780]If you have transfer credit or credit coming in
- [00:04:45.420]from taking college-level classes in high school,
- [00:04:48.150]you might even have some of your ACE courses done already.
- [00:04:51.360]ACE is spread out throughout your four years.
- [00:04:54.480]So there are some classes that,
- [00:04:56.100]by design of your program,
- [00:04:57.450]will come later in junior or senior year
- [00:04:59.910]that are still meeting general education requirements.
- [00:05:02.670]And one reason I really like that
- [00:05:04.020]is then it opens up the ability
- [00:05:05.430]for students to be able to take major-specific courses
- [00:05:08.250]right in their first semester.
- [00:05:10.565]So that next degree component
- [00:05:11.820]are those major-specific courses.
- [00:05:14.160]So those would be your speech path classes,
- [00:05:16.260]your special education classes, teaching classes,
- [00:05:19.800]educational psychology, textiles, nutrition,
- [00:05:24.480]struggling income families.
- [00:05:25.710]And so those different areas we have actual majors in
- [00:05:30.180]is gonna be where you have your major-specific courses
- [00:05:33.300]with the faculty that are leading your specific program.
- [00:05:37.050]In addition to ACE and major-specific courses,
- [00:05:40.080]you'll have some additional components
- [00:05:41.730]to meet that 120 credit hours.
- [00:05:44.040]If you are in a teaching-based program,
- [00:05:46.410]you might have content courses on those subject courses
- [00:05:50.130]to learn that subject you wanna teach.
- [00:05:52.620]Sometimes we have courses
- [00:05:53.880]that we refer to as supporting courses,
- [00:05:56.580]so those could be things like math and science
- [00:05:58.800]if you're going into a pre-health major within our college.
- [00:06:02.430]Sometimes you're gonna have choices within classes
- [00:06:04.860]that are related to your major.
- [00:06:06.600]We call those selective.
- [00:06:07.800]So depending on what you want to do with your degree
- [00:06:10.560]or your career after your degree,
- [00:06:12.210]you're gonna be able to make some choices.
- [00:06:14.550]Minors are gonna be additional credit hours
- [00:06:16.377]the student can add into their degree
- [00:06:19.470]if they wanna have a specialization
- [00:06:21.420]in another area beyond their actual degree program.
- [00:06:24.330]And there are gonna be some majors
- [00:06:25.800]that have built-in minors,
- [00:06:27.450]like in hospitality,
- [00:06:28.440]you're gonna have a built-in minor in leadership
- [00:06:31.440]and textiles merchandising,
- [00:06:33.510]you're gonna have a built-in minor in business
- [00:06:36.150]and in some of the communication science
- [00:06:38.190]and disorders tracks,
- [00:06:40.620]you're gonna have a built-in minor in education study.
- [00:06:44.250]Electives are gonna be anything that you want to take
- [00:06:47.460]for college-level credit that is interesting to you
- [00:06:50.610]to help you meet that 120 hours to graduate.
- [00:06:55.200]Actual degree requirements, specific courses,
- [00:06:59.910]sample four-year plans are all gonna be here in the catalog,
- [00:07:04.320]and that's a great resource
- [00:07:05.580]for you as a student to go look at
- [00:07:07.800]anytime you have a question about a course description
- [00:07:13.620]or sequence of courses.
- [00:07:16.050]That's a good one-stop shop for you.
- [00:07:18.780]Now, we do have in the College of Education
- [00:07:20.550]and Human Sciences two majors where we have permission
- [00:07:24.660]to allow students to have to take more
- [00:07:27.840]than that 120 credit hours.
- [00:07:29.820]Those are for our students who are interested
- [00:07:31.320]in elementary education, special education,
- [00:07:33.780]or elementary education early childhood.
- [00:07:36.480]Those students are just completing one degree,
- [00:07:38.490]but it is one degree where they'll be recommended
- [00:07:40.710]for two teaching certifications.
- [00:07:42.750]So they do have a little more of the 120 credit hours.
- [00:07:46.140]Those programs can still be completed though
- [00:07:48.840]in the four years if a student has that as a goal.
- [00:07:53.130]We want every student to be successful
- [00:07:55.680]as they come to the University of Nebraska Lincoln,
- [00:07:57.960]specifically in the College of Education and Human Sciences.
- [00:08:02.130]We have students that we,
- [00:08:04.950]we have students who graduate within four years
- [00:08:07.950]at a higher rate than the overall university average.
- [00:08:11.940]We also have students graduating with less credit hours,
- [00:08:15.660]meaning not taking a lot of extra classes
- [00:08:18.480]that they don't need
- [00:08:19.380]compared to the rest of the university at graduation.
- [00:08:21.930]And then we also see students graduating from here
- [00:08:24.990]with really outstanding high GPAs as well.
- [00:08:27.630]So we know your student can be successful here.
- [00:08:30.450]There are some things to know about being successful
- [00:08:32.790]when we think about academic success
- [00:08:34.650]in regards to grades and your timeline to graduation.
- [00:08:37.980]Most students are gonna wanna be a full-time student.
- [00:08:40.560]Full-time student status
- [00:08:41.610]at the University of Nebraska Lincoln is 12 credit hours.
- [00:08:45.060]So if you are taking four classes
- [00:08:47.460]that each meet for three credit hours a week,
- [00:08:49.620]that would be considered full-time status.
- [00:08:52.950]Sometimes you'll have a scholarship
- [00:08:55.020]or a special requirement for a program
- [00:08:56.940]that you might be part of
- [00:08:58.710]that might be supporting your degree program,
- [00:09:00.720]and they might require
- [00:09:01.560]that you take more than 12 credit hours.
- [00:09:03.390]Maybe they'll require that you take 15 credit hours.
- [00:09:06.330]We generally encourage students
- [00:09:07.650]to think about taking full semesters
- [00:09:10.200]somewhere between that 14 to 16 credit hours.
- [00:09:13.590]This can help you maintain that on-time graduation,
- [00:09:16.470]if that is your goal.
- [00:09:18.420]Keep in mind, we do want students
- [00:09:20.100]to not only take full semesters in regards
- [00:09:22.950]to the number of credit hours classes they're taking
- [00:09:25.350]but also earn great grades.
- [00:09:27.240]So at the University of Nebraska Lincoln,
- [00:09:29.370]to continue to move forward
- [00:09:31.080]and take classes for the next term,
- [00:09:33.300]a student must be on good academic standing
- [00:09:36.000]to move through the university.
- [00:09:38.130]If you struggle academically in a semester
- [00:09:42.240]and your grade point average falls below the 2.0,
- [00:09:45.420]you will go on what we call academic warning,
- [00:09:48.840]and then there'll be an academic advisor
- [00:09:51.360]or team member who works closely with you
- [00:09:53.430]to make sure we can help you in the next semester,
- [00:09:57.090]and make sure you're making better academic progress,
- [00:10:00.120]and making a plan for success
- [00:10:01.590]so you can continue here at the university.
- [00:10:08.850]We support students with their academic planning
- [00:10:11.670]with academic advisors.
- [00:10:13.710]Academic advisors are full-time staff members,
- [00:10:16.290]and their full-time job that they do every day all day
- [00:10:19.800]is meet one-to-one with students
- [00:10:21.630]to talk to them about their degree programs.
- [00:10:24.690]So when you begin your degree program
- [00:10:26.540]in the College of Education and Human Sciences,
- [00:10:28.680]you'll be assigned to a professional advisor,
- [00:10:31.560]and you'll meet with your advisor the first time you sign up
- [00:10:34.050]for classes within the college.
- [00:10:36.240]And then we're gonna encourage you
- [00:10:37.380]to meet with your advisor every semester.
- [00:10:39.990]We try to make it really easy for you
- [00:10:41.550]to access your advisor after you are here taking classes.
- [00:10:46.470]You'll have access to your advisor's calendar
- [00:10:48.660]through a tool we call Student Success Hub,
- [00:10:51.210]and you can set up an appointment with your advisor
- [00:10:53.220]whenever you need that appointment.
- [00:10:56.040]Students, like I said, should see their advisor
- [00:10:57.990]every semester they're signing up for classes.
- [00:11:00.150]So you'll see that under class registration.
- [00:11:02.610]Also really helpful to work with your advisor
- [00:11:04.890]to build that long-range plan.
- [00:11:06.780]Maybe you're a student who's interested in education abroad,
- [00:11:09.360]and we need to think about which semester
- [00:11:10.980]that should happen.
- [00:11:12.000]Or maybe you're a student who wants to take summer courses
- [00:11:15.420]or never take summer courses.
- [00:11:17.220]Those are all great things for you to talk
- [00:11:18.543]with your academic advisor about with your long-range plan.
- [00:11:22.080]Also, if you're struggling with a class,
- [00:11:23.790]you're welcome to come in and talk to your advisor.
- [00:11:26.010]Your advisor probably doesn't have the skillset
- [00:11:27.960]to tutor you in a specific class,
- [00:11:30.030]but they're gonna know academic resources
- [00:11:32.070]that they can share with you.
- [00:11:34.170]If you want to add a major, add a minor,
- [00:11:37.590]change any component of your degree,
- [00:11:40.260]come in and see your advisor,
- [00:11:41.310]we can help you make a decision around how
- [00:11:44.190]and when to make that change.
- [00:11:46.230]Our advisors have been on campus for a number of years,
- [00:11:48.960]they love the work that they get to do
- [00:11:50.430]with college students,
- [00:11:51.450]and they love helping college students.
- [00:11:53.280]So you're also welcome just to see your advisor
- [00:11:55.500]if you have any questions
- [00:11:56.850]and you're not sure who is your actual advisor
- [00:11:59.760]or who is the best person that you ask that question to,
- [00:12:02.970]your advisor can help you figure that out.
- [00:12:07.110]Once you are enrolled,
- [00:12:08.790]you'll see who your academic advisor is
- [00:12:11.583]in a few different places.
- [00:12:12.780]You'll see that listed on MyRed, our academic portal,
- [00:12:15.720]where you'll be signing up for classes.
- [00:12:18.210]You'll also see who your advisor is
- [00:12:20.850]as listed as part of your success team
- [00:12:22.680]and the Student Success Hub,
- [00:12:24.330]which is a virtual support community for you.
- [00:12:27.360]And then advisors, we're physically located
- [00:12:30.030]in the College of Education and Human Sciences
- [00:12:32.130]on City Campus in 105 Henzlik Hall.
- [00:12:34.860]And if you sign up for an in-person appointment,
- [00:12:36.900]that's where you'll go meet with your advisor.
- [00:12:39.180]We also have drop-in advising
- [00:12:40.980]on a weekly basis in our office.
- [00:12:43.890]And so watch for announcements around that.
- [00:12:46.770]And then again, you can always choose
- [00:12:48.150]to meet with your advisor online.
- [00:12:50.550]If you wanna know who your advisor's gonna be now
- [00:12:53.400]before you start classes with us,
- [00:12:55.260]you can go to cehs.unl.edu.
- [00:12:58.560]From there, navigate to the Student Resources tab,
- [00:13:01.650]then Academic Advising, and then Advisor by Major.
- [00:13:05.670]And then you can find what your major is,
- [00:13:08.460]and then look to see who your advisor will be.
- [00:13:12.540]Some of our programs are larger,
- [00:13:14.400]and there'll be two people that advise in that area.
- [00:13:16.890]And so we'll divide that large group by student last name,
- [00:13:20.550]which you can see an example of that right here.
- [00:13:23.220]So if you click on program-specific information
- [00:13:26.790]that will actually take you to the catalog
- [00:13:28.980]where you can see the four-year plan,
- [00:13:30.780]the major requirements, specific classes,
- [00:13:33.960]the rules around your degree.
- [00:13:35.730]And then on the right-hand side of that image,
- [00:13:37.740]again you can see the two different advisors
- [00:13:39.570]who advise in this area.
- [00:13:41.220]You click on their name,
- [00:13:42.053]you'll get their contact information,
- [00:13:43.560]and if you click on their link,
- [00:13:44.610]you'll get their calendar
- [00:13:46.770]to schedule an appointment with them.
- [00:13:53.280]Every student who is new to UNL,
- [00:13:55.620]whether you're a first-semester freshman
- [00:13:58.080]or if you are a transfer student
- [00:14:00.030]and you've been successful at another school
- [00:14:01.830]and now you've come to the University of Nebraska Lincoln,
- [00:14:04.500]everyone's first advising appointment
- [00:14:07.290]is gonna happen with an academic advisor
- [00:14:10.020]as part of the new student enrollment advising process.
- [00:14:13.920]You will sign up for new student enrollment on MyRed,
- [00:14:18.330]and you'll see information
- [00:14:19.710]around both your orientation part of new student enrollment
- [00:14:23.490]and the advising part of new student enrollment.
- [00:14:26.730]So when you're an actual student
- [00:14:28.230]within the college taking classes,
- [00:14:30.630]you'll have easy access to your advisor's calendar,
- [00:14:33.600]and you'll just schedule an appointment on your own.
- [00:14:35.940]But for this first academic advising session
- [00:14:38.820]as you start your academic career
- [00:14:41.130]at the University of Nebraska Lincoln,
- [00:14:43.050]this appointment, you will sign up for through MyRed
- [00:14:46.320]by going to the NSE part on MyRed under your admissions tab
- [00:14:51.120]and then signing up for your advising appointment.
- [00:14:53.670]If you can't sign up for your advising appointment yet,
- [00:14:55.710]there could be some steps you need to complete.
- [00:14:58.080]There are some pre-advising activities
- [00:14:59.970]that students have to complete
- [00:15:02.070]so they can get access to sign up
- [00:15:03.690]for their advising appointment with their advisor.
- [00:15:06.780]All students have to fill out
- [00:15:07.890]what we call an advising inventory.
- [00:15:09.960]That will be information that you share with us
- [00:15:12.150]that will help us, as your advisor,
- [00:15:14.010]prepare to see if there's anything we need to do unique
- [00:15:16.950]around your class scheduling.
- [00:15:19.290]Maybe you're a part of a scholarship community
- [00:15:21.240]and you have a specific course requirement you have to take,
- [00:15:23.910]or if you're a part of a club or organization
- [00:15:26.760]or a sports team or marching band or ROTC,
- [00:15:30.480]and we need to plan around required activities with those,
- [00:15:33.750]we'll see that information all on the advising inventory.
- [00:15:37.170]Also in the advising inventory,
- [00:15:38.490]you're gonna list any class
- [00:15:39.690]you have college-level credit for,
- [00:15:41.760]so we can make sure to keep that in mind
- [00:15:44.160]as we're working with you.
- [00:15:46.800]Students are gonna be required
- [00:15:47.970]to take the Math Placement Exam.
- [00:15:50.670]This will help us know which math class you should take.
- [00:15:54.150]And even if you are in a major
- [00:15:55.980]where you think you might not have a lot of math
- [00:15:58.530]or you are transferring in math,
- [00:16:00.540]you still need to take the Math Placement Exam
- [00:16:02.370]because the score of that can also impact other classes,
- [00:16:06.150]such as science options.
- [00:16:08.610]If you want to continue with a modern language
- [00:16:12.090]at the University of Nebraska Lincoln beyond the two years
- [00:16:15.480]from high school that our college requires,
- [00:16:17.940]you can make the choice
- [00:16:19.230]to take the Modern Language Exam as well.
- [00:16:22.530]When you have your actual advising appointment
- [00:16:24.720]for new student enrollment,
- [00:16:26.730]depending on the time of the year,
- [00:16:27.990]that advising appointment could be in person
- [00:16:30.300]in 105 Henzlik Hall, or it could be only online by Zoom.
- [00:16:36.150]Either way, if you're meeting with your academic advisor
- [00:16:38.580]for NSE academic advising,
- [00:16:41.220]it's super important that the student has access to MyRed
- [00:16:44.730]so you can log into MyRed
- [00:16:47.040]during your NSE advising appointment
- [00:16:49.560]because during that appointment,
- [00:16:50.850]you, the student, will be signing up for your classes,
- [00:16:54.090]where your advisor
- [00:16:55.050]will be right there with you the entire time,
- [00:16:57.150]but your student or grad student has to have access
- [00:17:00.720]to MyRed to enroll in classes.
- [00:17:04.950]In addition to your academic advisor,
- [00:17:06.990]there is lots of people here in the College of Education
- [00:17:09.420]and Human Sciences who are here to help you.
- [00:17:12.120]Our faculty are so kind and supportive
- [00:17:14.730]and wanna see students be super successful
- [00:17:17.400]in all that they do.
- [00:17:18.780]Some other supports that you're gonna find out about
- [00:17:21.720]in your time here at the College of Education
- [00:17:23.760]and Human Sciences are gonna be career coaches.
- [00:17:27.180]You'll see them in some of your classes.
- [00:17:29.550]They share office space with our academic advisors.
- [00:17:32.130]They can help you find those hands-on experiences
- [00:17:34.620]in addition to your in-class hands-on experiences
- [00:17:37.440]related to your majoring career you might be interested in.
- [00:17:40.260]And we also have an academic navigator
- [00:17:42.330]who's here to help you if you a first-year student
- [00:17:45.930]or a second-year student
- [00:17:47.280]and you're struggling to maybe manage your time,
- [00:17:50.340]or find academic resources,
- [00:17:53.520]or want to sit down one-on-one to plan on a study schedule,
- [00:17:57.150]your academic navigator would be a great person
- [00:17:59.250]for you to work with who's right here
- [00:18:00.978]in the college as well.
- [00:18:02.160]And additionally, over here
- [00:18:03.600]on the right-hand side of the screen
- [00:18:06.240]or left-hand side of the screen, I guess,
- [00:18:08.520]you can see some of our students stopping
- [00:18:11.490]and talking to faculty and department chairs
- [00:18:13.740]and our dean in the hallway and just checking in, saying hi,
- [00:18:18.180]and then getting some free ice cream
- [00:18:20.340]from our college leadership.
- [00:18:22.200]So lots of people here to help you all the time.
- [00:18:26.580]We encourage students in the College of Education
- [00:18:28.590]and Human Sciences to think about education abroad.
- [00:18:31.740]Our education abroad programs are faculty-led programs.
- [00:18:35.550]They usually last between two and four weeks long.
- [00:18:39.420]Students earn college credit
- [00:18:41.280]for their specific degree program while they're in this,
- [00:18:44.370]while they're on the education abroad.
- [00:18:46.590]And it's a really great experience.
- [00:18:49.260]We know education abroad can be costly
- [00:18:51.810]and so we do a few things to help with that.
- [00:18:54.660]Again, we do shorter trips.
- [00:18:56.970]We make sure that the trip you're taking,
- [00:18:58.800]you can again earn credit
- [00:19:01.620]towards your actual academic degree program.
- [00:19:04.350]Take courses here with you and from UNL
- [00:19:06.720]while you're on your actual education abroad trip.
- [00:19:09.780]And then we try to keep those again shorter in timeframe
- [00:19:12.630]so they're more manageable for you
- [00:19:14.010]to still plan to have a summer job
- [00:19:17.100]or stay on track for on time graduation.
- [00:19:23.250]We know being a full-time student is a full-time job
- [00:19:26.820]between your studying and you're going to class,
- [00:19:30.540]but we always encourage
- [00:19:31.620]that you just can't work and have no fun.
- [00:19:34.020]So in addition to being a full-time student,
- [00:19:36.420]a great part of being a student is getting involved
- [00:19:39.180]on your college campus.
- [00:19:41.190]So we're gonna have lots of different student organizations
- [00:19:44.280]that you can join that are related to your major
- [00:19:47.010]or just even welcome events
- [00:19:48.540]where you can get to know other students
- [00:19:50.160]who are studying the same thing as you.
- [00:19:54.060]If you wanna see what current students in your major
- [00:19:57.150]or faculty in your department are doing,
- [00:19:59.670]following us on social media
- [00:20:01.260]is a great way to learn more about those.
- [00:20:05.310]As we wrap up, I just do wanna share one more time.
- [00:20:08.340]Again, my name, AnnMarie Gottner, and my email address,
- [00:20:11.700]and then the phone number to our student services office.
- [00:20:14.970]You're welcome to email or call if you have any questions.
- [00:20:18.900]We really look forward to having you here
- [00:20:21.360]on campus as a student and supporting your student
- [00:20:25.650]if you're a parent or a guest.
- [00:20:28.020]We know the University of Nebraska Lincoln is a great place
- [00:20:31.170]for you to continue your education
- [00:20:34.230]and earn that four-year degree,
- [00:20:36.150]and we're so excited to be part of that process.
- [00:20:38.820]Please let us know how we can help along the way.
