[00:00:05.333]on meteorological software for the Air Force and DOD.
[00:00:09.583]The student project that we proposed was building out some services
[00:00:13.958]for small to medium sized businesses where they could take the weather
[00:00:18.416]and distill it down into business decisions.
[00:00:22.166]So taking temperatures, wind speeds and things like that
[00:00:26.250]and predicting based off of what you would see in the five day forecast to come.
[00:00:30.875]We were really hoping to get a good synergy between
[00:00:34.583]giving an opportunity for some of the students
[00:00:37.083]to get some real hands on real world experience
[00:00:39.291]as well as getting our name out there as a business for people to, you know,
[00:00:42.625]look for interesting opportunities when they graduate and move on.
[00:00:45.916]I think we were really fortunate. We got a great team.
[00:00:48.250]I mean, I'm sure all of the programs feel that way as well because UNL
[00:00:51.708]does a great job preparing our students for the projects.
[00:00:54.875]But we kind of presented an overarching theme and kind of
[00:00:59.375]ideas of what we wanted the outcomes to be and allow the students
[00:01:03.750]to come up with creative ideas of how to solve those problems.
[00:01:07.291]It was very obvious after the first couple of months of of working with the team
[00:01:11.166]that they understood our problem set and they were bringing forth great ideas
[00:01:14.875]on how to solve the problem and even suggested some things
[00:01:17.458]that we hadn't thought of originally to put in the final application.
[00:01:20.291]I really like just the interaction with the students and the mentoring
[00:01:24.083]and kind of teaching them
[00:01:25.541]how to do it and seeing it click for them as they start to build out the solutions.
[00:01:29.458]And I think it really gives them something
[00:01:31.416]they can be proud of and they can really see, you know,
[00:01:33.583]the impact of what they're putting together.
[00:01:36.083]We got a great return on investment for the software that we received
[00:01:39.833]and also we had a student that transitioned to a full time employee.
[00:01:45.166]So definitely a win win.
