[00:00:05.908]at both the Panhandle Research Extension and Education Center
[00:00:09.525]in Scottsbluff and the Sustainable Ag Research
[00:00:12.325]Education Center in Lingle, Wyo. One of the main topics
[00:00:16.153]in Scottsbluff was sugar beets. Nevin Lawrence,
[00:00:19.072]Nebraska Extension integrated weed management specialist
[00:00:22.197]explained what they are looking at in herbicides in sugar beets.
[00:00:25.706]Within sugar beets whats exciting is we are
[00:00:28.010]testing a lot of novel herbicides that are new
[00:00:32.452]for sugar beets that aren't registered yet and
[00:00:35.142]available yet, but they hopefully will be in the next
[00:00:37.849]couple of years. And that's a big deal, we have
[00:00:40.597]not had a new herbicide come to market in sugar
[00:00:43.332]beets since the registration of glyphosate resistance sugar
[00:00:49.989]beets. A few years back and this is, and we could potentially have
[00:00:57.367]several in the next coming years. While the herbicides
[00:00:59.800]are in the testing stage it could still be 3 to 5 years.
[00:01:03.614]There hopefully will be a registration of triple stack beets, that's going to
[00:01:07.614]be a product uh technology called Truvera which will be the same
[00:01:11.498]as what we have in soybeans, Xtendflex soybeans. So
[00:01:14.124]it would be dicamba, glufosinate, and glyphosate resistance.
[00:01:16.794]That would add both the glufosinate and glyphosate traits.
[00:01:19.857]However, the regulatory process on that is quite slow we're
[00:01:23.595]not sure when that's going to be available
[00:01:24.838]but we are doing some early research on that.
[00:01:27.090]Lawrence said another product that is coming to market in
[00:01:30.141]the future, from Corteva is Rinskor, which should help
[00:01:33.748]with palmeramaranth in sugar beets.
