[00:00:14.156]saw some differences from previous years
[00:00:16.654]Typically eastern Nebraska receives more
[00:00:19.009]rainfall than western Nebraska, and as a result the
[00:00:22.219]wheat looks better as you go east. but that's not the
[00:00:25.032]case this year. So, this year, definitely we see improving
[00:00:28.050]wheat as we move west. And the best wheat we've seen is up
[00:00:32.856]in Box Butte County they've received good rainfall good growing
[00:00:37.155]conditions its nice and cool. Cool and wet is ideal for wheat.
[00:00:41.332]And so we have that in western Nebraska. So, overall
[00:00:46.049]very pleased with how the wheat looks in this area
[00:00:49.107]While the rain has helped western Nebraska wheat.
[00:00:51.052]We do see spots of winter kill.
[00:00:53.166]Some poor stands in some areas depending
[00:00:55.623]on the timing it was planted last fall.
[00:00:58.818]A lot of wheat went in dry conditions, dry soil
[00:01:03.781]and didn't emerge quickly and didn't tiller
[00:01:09.865]like we typically see our wheat grow in the fall.
[00:01:14.136]Even over that we still have plenty of good
[00:01:17.428]growth plenty of wheat out in western Nebraska
[00:01:19.933]this year. The tour at HPAL
[00:01:22.740]also included a livestock research project,
[00:01:25.420]dry pea varieties, and forage crop research.
