Blake Lawrence, '09 marketing & '11 MBA alum and co-founder and CEO of Opendorse, received the Young Alumni Award for being an outstanding example of a successful leader who provides inspiration and insight to College of Business students and members of the Nebraska Business community. A leading expert on athlete marketing and former Husker football linebacker himself, Lawrence helped more than 100,000 athletes build and monetize their Name, Image & Likeness value for the past decade while leading Opendorse.

[00:00:03.630]This was something I'd always dreamed of.
[00:00:06.067]So, woke up one day a starting linebacker
[00:00:08.850]and I went to bed that night knowing
[00:00:09.930]I could never play football again.
[00:00:11.705]I had suffered four concussions in a little over a year
[00:00:15.415]and I had to figure out who I was,
[00:00:18.660]'cause I was no longer the football player
[00:00:20.850]and the College of Business helped me figure out
[00:00:26.250]my next part of my life.
[00:00:27.600]I stood up in the middle of class and I said,
[00:00:29.317]"I have an idea."
[00:00:30.540]And Sam Nelson in that moment could have said,
[00:00:32.670]'Blake, sit down, shut up, I'm teaching."

[00:00:37.290]He sat down and said, "Tell us your idea."
