[00:00:12.390]And it's a tremendous experiential learning opportunity
[00:00:15.690]for our students.
[00:00:17.070]Cheryl, you run our Design Studio at the Raikes School.
[00:00:21.180]Can you talk about how that Design Studio experience
[00:00:24.450]is a win-win for our students in the Raikes school?
[00:00:27.390]It's a win-win for students,
[00:00:28.590]and it's also a win-win for our organizations.
[00:00:31.200]Organizations can sponsor a project
[00:00:33.510]where they will work with students
[00:00:35.130]that are highly skilled.
[00:00:37.230]Five to six students come together
[00:00:38.790]and solve real-world problems.
[00:00:40.740]Now, students, on the other hand,
[00:00:42.990]their products will be seen by those executives.
[00:00:45.660]So the students will be pitching,
[00:00:47.250]managing their team,
[00:00:49.170]and learning how to lead a team
[00:00:52.380]to a final result for that business.
[00:00:55.110]What're some examples,
[00:00:56.400]maybe, of software solutions
[00:00:58.530]that have come from the Design Studio in the past?
[00:01:01.530]This year, some of the ones that come to mind
[00:01:04.230]is Mutual of Omaha.
[00:01:05.520]Their product is working to prevent
[00:01:08.850]lapsing of policy holders.
[00:01:10.800]They're using machine-learning algorithms to build that.
[00:01:13.680]Another interesting one is Allo.
[00:01:15.750]The solution that the students have built
[00:01:17.550]is already in production.
[00:01:18.900]The students are getting to see firsthand
[00:01:20.880]how they are enabling Allo to serve their customers better
[00:01:24.960]with their rapid growth.
[00:01:26.280]Bryce, you're a senior in the Raikes school

[00:01:30.570]Talk about this Design Studio process,
[00:01:32.670]what it's meant for you.
[00:01:33.840]Of course, in Design Studio,
[00:01:35.460]I get the opportunity to learn new technologies
[00:01:38.100]such as mobile development,
[00:01:39.150]which I learned last year.
[00:01:40.110]And beyond that, now, as a senior,
[00:01:41.580]I've gotten the opportunity to lead the team
[00:01:43.410]as a product manager,
[00:01:44.730]which has really helped develop my leadership skills
[00:01:46.740]such as communication and conflict resolution.
[00:01:49.410]Not only am I technically able,
[00:01:51.210]but I also know that I'll be able to pursue
[00:01:53.550]leadership opportunities earlier on in my career
[00:01:56.040]because of the chance and the experience
[00:01:57.930]that Design Studio's given me.
[00:01:59.370]The Raikes School is doing great things
[00:02:01.380]and turning great people out into the world
