Husker Hub Explains how to enroll in the official University of Nebraska-Lincoln's payment plan, The Husker Payment Plan. The Husker Payment Plan is offered through Nelnet Campus Commerce which allows students to split their bill into 3 payments each semester. Students must enroll in the Husker Payment Plan each semester they wish to utilize it. Students can enroll in the Husker Payment Plan in their MyRED accounts. - [00:00:07.500]In this video, we'll be discussing the Husker payment plan,
- [00:00:10.350]UNL'S payment solution provided
- [00:00:11.940]by the bursar's office and Nelnet campus commerce.
- [00:00:14.970]The payment option allows currently enrolled UNL students
- [00:00:17.400]to pay their fall
- [00:00:18.390]and spring semester charges and three monthly payments.
- [00:00:21.540]Students who wanna take advantage
- [00:00:22.830]of this interest-free payment plan will be able
- [00:00:25.140]to enroll each term in which they would like to participate
- [00:00:27.690]through their MyRED portal.
- [00:00:29.040]UNL students who would like to take advantage
- [00:00:30.570]of this interest-free payment plan option
- [00:00:32.520]must enroll each term
- [00:00:33.570]in which they would like to participate.
- [00:00:35.130]For students who receive scholarships and financial aid,
- [00:00:37.290]they can enroll in Husker payment plan
- [00:00:38.850]for the remainder of charges they owe each semester.
- [00:00:41.010]If students are still completing financial aid documents
- [00:00:43.320]and have yet to receive any scholarships
- [00:00:44.760]or financial aid by the semester bill due date,
- [00:00:47.040]they can enroll in the Husker payment plan
- [00:00:48.750]by the bill due date and make the initial payment
- [00:00:50.970]on the plan to avoid their late fee.
- [00:00:52.830]Once any scholarships or financial aid are applied
- [00:00:54.840]to their consolidated student account,
- [00:00:56.610]the consolidated bill will adjust to account
- [00:00:58.410]for those credits
- [00:00:59.250]and also for any other charges that get posted
- [00:01:01.500]to their student account.
- [00:01:02.670]Notifications of any plan changes will be communicated
- [00:01:05.220]to the student by Nelnet Campus Commerce.
- [00:01:07.860]Now let's go into MyRED to show how students can enroll
- [00:01:10.080]into the Husker Payment Plan each semester.
- [00:01:13.080]Payment plans are a great way
- [00:01:14.700]to make college more affordable.
- [00:01:16.650]Here's how to set one up.
- [00:01:18.420]First, click Set up a Payment Plan.
- [00:01:21.120]Choose your term and click Begin.
- [00:01:24.090]Remember, you can only set up a payment plan
- [00:01:26.790]for one student at a time.
- [00:01:29.220]Fill out your contact information
- [00:01:31.290]and review every section to make sure it's accurate.
- [00:01:34.470]If you need to make changes,
- [00:01:36.090]click Edit Details, then click Next.
- [00:01:40.410]Next, fill out the amount due section
- [00:01:43.170]by entering the total amount you owe for your current term.
- [00:01:47.220]If it's already populated, make sure it's accurate.
- [00:01:51.090]Beneath each line item,
- [00:01:52.830]you can click the plus sign button
- [00:01:54.780]for additional information.
- [00:01:56.760]When you're ready to proceed, click Next.
- [00:02:00.120]On the plan options section, you'll see all
- [00:02:02.850]of the Payment Plan types your institution offers.
- [00:02:05.820]Choose the one that's the best fit for you.
- [00:02:08.730]It's important to note
- [00:02:09.870]that you will be charged a one-time enrollment fee.
- [00:02:13.080]Click OK to accept and proceed.
- [00:02:16.380]Next, you'll enter your bank account or card information.
- [00:02:20.610]You can choose whichever option works best for you.
- [00:02:23.700]If you pay with a credit card,
- [00:02:25.500]you may incur an additional fee.
- [00:02:28.110]You can avoid this fee by using a bank account.
- [00:02:31.320]Remember, you can change your payment method at any time.
- [00:02:35.730]Once you've confirmed your payment information,
- [00:02:38.460]click Next to see your full payment schedule.
- [00:02:41.850]If any of your due dates fall on a bank holiday or weekend,
- [00:02:45.570]your payments will go through on the next business day.
- [00:02:48.870]Finally, take one last look at all
- [00:02:51.480]of your information to make any last minute changes.
- [00:02:54.930]If everything looks right, read and agree
- [00:02:57.630]to the terms and conditions, then click Authorize.
- [00:03:01.590]You'll receive a final popup asking you
- [00:03:04.080]to verify payment account for your down payment.
- [00:03:07.050]If need be, use the change button to edit.

- [00:03:14.100]Your payment plan is all set up
- [00:03:15.840]and future tuition payments will be made automatically.

- [00:03:23.490]Once enrolled into the Husker payment plan
- [00:03:25.320]and that first initial payment is made,
- [00:03:27.120]you can review
- [00:03:27.953]the Nelnet payment processing policies found here.
- [00:03:30.390]Automatic payments and funds withdrawing from your account
- [00:03:33.150]that you established through the Husker Payment Plan
- [00:03:35.298]will have a payment date that is displayed to the student
- [00:03:37.500]or the authorized payer on the date
- [00:03:39.390]that they request their bank to withdraw the funds
- [00:03:41.160]from their account.
- [00:03:42.150]That will typically occur on the 12th of each month
- [00:03:44.370]on the Husker Payment Plan.
- [00:03:45.810]We must submit the payment information
- [00:03:47.310]to the Federal Reserve one business day
- [00:03:48.720]before the payment date
- [00:03:49.890]in order to ensure the payment is withdrawn
- [00:03:51.450]on the date disclosed.
- [00:03:52.410]But for students watching,
- [00:03:53.670]if you happen to see a payment processing
- [00:03:55.440]from the Husker payment plan a day prior
- [00:03:57.630]to the 12th of the month, don't be alarmed.
- [00:03:59.880]Be mindful of a return payment fee.
- [00:04:01.920]Nelnet does assess a $30 return payment fee
- [00:04:04.650]in the event that the payment fails due
- [00:04:06.390]to either insufficient funds in the consumer's bank account
- [00:04:09.270]or if the credit card that's being used
- [00:04:10.770]for the scheduled payment is either invalid
- [00:04:12.677]or the credit limit is exceeded.
- [00:04:14.520]Should there be a pattern
- [00:04:15.390]of failed return payment fee being assessed
- [00:04:17.250]due to either insufficient funds or incorrect information
- [00:04:20.340]inputted on the credit card or debit card,
- [00:04:22.410]the University of Nebraska Lincoln may terminate a student
- [00:04:24.600]from enrolling in future Husker payment plans.
- [00:04:26.730]In summation, enrollment for a fall semester
- [00:04:29.130]of the Husker payment Plan would open up on August 25th
- [00:04:31.950]in the student's MyRED
- [00:04:33.390]with a hard deadline of September 12th.
- [00:04:35.520]Enrollment for a spring semester Husker payment plan
- [00:04:37.680]would begin in MyRED on January 25th
- [00:04:40.440]with a hard deadline of enrollment of February 12th.
- [00:04:42.990]University of Nebraska Lincoln does allow students to enroll
- [00:04:45.180]into the Husker payment plan as long as they don't
- [00:04:46.890]have a past due balance from a previous semester.
- [00:04:49.140]Husker payment plan payment methods do include
- [00:04:51.180]automatic bank payment via checking or savings
- [00:04:54.150]routing an account number
- [00:04:55.770]or a student or an authorized payer can elect
- [00:04:57.930]to use a credit or debit card as long
- [00:05:00.090]as they're mindful of the 2.7% service fee that's added
- [00:05:03.450]to the payment when using the card option.
