- [00:00:36.780]books they claim have inappropriate content.

- [00:00:44.460]at least 50 groups working at local, state
- [00:00:47.154]and national levels to remove books from school libraries.
- [00:00:52.050]According to the report,
- [00:00:53.370]this is a relatively recent occurrence.
- [00:00:55.920]Many of the groups such as Moms for Liberty in Omaha
- [00:00:59.190]began in 2021.
- [00:01:01.290]We reached out to them for comment, but they did not reply.
- [00:01:04.350]But I've never seen as many challenges
- [00:01:07.050]throughout my career as I do right now.

- [00:01:13.020]says the battle for censorship has increased
- [00:01:15.390]since the pandemic.
- [00:01:17.010]The American Library Association says that from July, 2021
- [00:01:20.370]to March, 2022, there was a record breaking 1600 challenges
- [00:01:25.530]to books in libraries across the country.
- [00:01:28.170]It seems to me a real overreach for a parent to say,
- [00:01:31.867]"I don't want my kids to read this, and therefore
- [00:01:34.680]no other kid should have access to this either."
