[00:00:10.260]It's an an incredible privilege to serve
[00:00:12.390]as the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.

[00:00:16.860]I think it's the people that we work with.
[00:00:18.720]It's the opportunity to learn about a whole range
[00:00:21.870]of different research areas and creative activity.
[00:00:24.690]I love the complexity,
[00:00:26.310]I love the diversity of the college,
[00:00:28.230]and above all the people who make it up.
[00:00:30.510]It's what keeps me going every day.
[00:00:33.482]Well, something that's really big for us right now
[00:00:35.520]is delivering on our promise to make sure
[00:00:38.370]that every student has an experiential learning opportunity
[00:00:41.160]before they graduate.
[00:00:42.322]And so, building our team,
[00:00:44.460]making sure students have opportunities for internship,
[00:00:47.280]research opportunities, study abroad,
[00:00:49.770]and making sure that they're successful in those.
[00:00:51.480]That's a big focus for us right now.

[00:01:17.610]My two daughters challenged me to do some axe throwing
[00:01:21.120]and try something a little different.
[00:01:22.440]So, we got out here, enjoyed it,
[00:01:24.510]and now I'm trying to bring that out
[00:01:26.280]to some of my colleagues in the college.

[00:01:30.006]Well, it's always fun to sort of bring people together,
[00:01:32.610]have a little competition,
[00:01:33.930]do something outta your comfort zone
[00:01:35.610]and just sort of have another chance to be together.

[00:01:43.140]for stoking the family's fire stove.
[00:01:46.142]It was my job as a youth to chop up the wood
[00:01:49.830]and keep everything moving.
[00:01:50.940]And so this is just an extension of that.

[00:01:57.360]to advance the college,
[00:01:58.500]It's a nice chance to get outside of that.

[00:02:05.100]and just blow off some steam together.
[00:02:06.960]And I think it just keeps us working well as a team
