[00:00:09.540]Every game with Iowa is a big challenge,
[00:00:11.910]and we'll have another game with Iowa at PBA in February.
[00:00:15.330]Do you think Husker fans can pack PBA for that one?
[00:00:18.630]Well, you know, I was playing them today,
[00:00:21.420]you know, over in Iowa City.
[00:00:23.250]They're tough again this year.
[00:00:24.720]They're top 10 team again.
[00:00:26.550]They've got Caitlin Clark on their squad
[00:00:28.470]and be a challenging game.
[00:00:31.440]So good to be playing them today.
[00:00:33.219]Three of our last four games,
[00:00:35.800]this team have been against top 10 opponents,
[00:00:39.138]ranked 11th or higher, you know,
[00:00:40.854]and so, but a tough schedule they're playing.
[00:00:43.860]But it's great to be seeing them play today in Iowa City.
[00:00:46.795]You know, we do have that game coming up when we return,
[00:00:51.180]when the Hawks come over to PBA on February the 18th.
[00:00:55.980]And that's pink game, our annual pink game
[00:00:58.920]on Play4Kay Day at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
[00:01:02.040]So it's our stand to unite against breast cancer.
[00:01:05.518]So we hope we can pack PBA for that game with the Hawkeyes
[00:01:10.890]and mark your calendars in our Husker nation for that game.

[00:01:18.424]You know, the university brings Nebraskans together
[00:01:20.561]for our Husker sports teams,
[00:01:22.230]but the university makes an even bigger impact
[00:01:24.723]on Nebraska through education, research, and outreach.
[00:01:28.640]What do you think are some of the many ways
[00:01:31.064]UNL makes a positive impact on our state?
[00:01:34.101]Well, we're the Land Grant University of Nebraska
[00:01:36.300]and we've been doing that for 154 years
[00:01:40.170]and we have huge impact on the state of Nebraska.
[00:01:42.500]We touch every citizen of the state
[00:01:45.901]through our mission and education and research
[00:01:48.598]and our nationally leading Nebraska extension effort.
[00:01:53.000]We literally touch every corner of Nebraska.
[00:01:55.523]And our economic impact really is tremendous.
[00:01:58.996]The most recent economic impact study for the university,
[00:02:03.021]for every state appropriated or tax dollar
[00:02:05.900]that goes into support the University of Nebraska Lincoln,
[00:02:09.997]$11 is returned directly to the economy
[00:02:12.664]of the state of Nebraska.
[00:02:14.970]So just, you know,
[00:02:15.803]a huge return on investment in and of itself.
[00:02:18.264]And just, you know,
[00:02:19.830]just a few things that are happening on an ongoing basis.
[00:02:23.281]We deliver, you know, cost saving,
[00:02:27.500]yield boosting ag research to the most important industry
[00:02:32.010]in our state for our farmers and ranchers.
[00:02:33.901]You know, we have a whole variety of ways we do that.
[00:02:37.704]One thing that's this time of year that we see happening
[00:02:42.270]is our plant and pest diagnostic clinics
[00:02:45.270]that are at work throughout the year, across the state.
[00:02:48.184]And in 2021, most recent full year
[00:02:51.338]that plant diagnostic clinic did over 1700 samples
[00:02:57.810]that involve following plant diseases.
[00:02:59.661]And the clinic, it just has a huge impact
[00:03:01.901]in the agricultural world.
[00:03:05.190]Over in our college of business,
[00:03:07.110]the Husker Venture Fund, our undergraduate students.
[00:03:09.917]Another great example, this is a fund
[00:03:13.560]that was built by alumni and university supporters.
[00:03:16.499]It's managed by more than 30 students
[00:03:18.622]under the supervision of the Center for Entrepreneurship
[00:03:21.917]in our college of business
[00:03:23.357]and the University of Nebraska Foundation
[00:03:25.859]as well as Invest Nebraska investing
[00:03:28.360]in new startup companies in Nebraska.
[00:03:31.459]That Husker Venture Fund helps to connect
[00:03:35.159]investment in new startups.
[00:03:40.739]And they've, this year just alone,
[00:03:43.260]invested $100,000 through that effort.
[00:03:48.237]And I could go on and on.
[00:03:50.010]Our honor students working in after school programs,
[00:03:52.440]you know, just the impact that the university has
[00:03:57.661]is wide and far.
[00:04:00.515]Well, this has been wonderful stuff.
[00:04:02.739]I know I've had three of my kids, you know,
[00:04:05.677]go through the University of Nebraska Lincoln.
[00:04:07.890]It's been great for our family.
