- [00:00:24.480]and I'm the economic development director
- [00:00:26.490]with Wakefield Progressive.
- [00:00:28.260]Hi, I'm Chelsea Herian,
- [00:00:29.730]executive director
- [00:00:30.810]of Box Beat Development Corporation.
- [00:00:32.550]Having the real fellow program here
- [00:00:34.590]and Grace and all the work that she did
- [00:00:36.960]has just been a tremendous asset for our organizations.
- [00:00:39.900]Our rural fellows work will create long term impact
- [00:00:43.410]in the Northwest Nebraska region as a whole.
- [00:00:45.720]The impact of the students helps create partnerships
- [00:00:51.090]in the community.
- [00:00:52.800]So the impact on our community,
- [00:00:54.900]the Gering community,
- [00:00:55.890]and the immediate area of what Esther and Lauren
- [00:00:58.020]have done is basically going to set the roadmap
- [00:01:01.170]for us moving forward
- [00:01:02.370]on what the next steps are for our downtown development.
- [00:01:05.940]With tourism being a major economic driver here
- [00:01:09.690]in Scottsbluff county,
- [00:01:11.580]the impact that both Ben and Ashton made is very,
- [00:01:16.380]very big.
- [00:01:17.310]It has just been an excellent opportunity.
- [00:01:19.680]I hope for them.
- [00:01:21.210]And we're super grateful to get some outside perspective,
- [00:01:24.180]young perspective on our community
- [00:01:26.100]and how we can make it better.
- [00:01:27.540]Today's experience helped me become a more
- [00:01:29.400]inclusive community leader
- [00:01:31.500]by giving me the opportunity to learn from two rural fellows
- [00:01:35.010]from different backgrounds,
- [00:01:37.200]and learning more through the academy
- [00:01:39.300]about my own strengths.
- [00:01:40.890]The work that these interns did here
- [00:01:42.570]at Scottsbluff National Monument,
- [00:01:44.400]part of our Gering Scottsbluff community
- [00:01:47.280]is very valuable to us.
- [00:01:49.140]From the organizational standpoint,
- [00:01:52.380]they have been able to provide a little structure
- [00:01:56.010]to our organization and breathe new life into what we we do.
- [00:02:01.890]What I've learned,
- [00:02:03.180]it's helped me understand how
- [00:02:05.010]to approach people,
- [00:02:06.900]bring them together with the ideas
- [00:02:09.780]and it's really gonna be useful going forward too
- [00:02:12.270]for helping bring community together
- [00:02:15.120]as a whole.
- [00:02:16.110]We really fell in love with them during our time here.
- [00:02:19.350]We consider them our family.
- [00:02:21.930]I hope they consider us their family.
- [00:02:24.720]We very much appreciate what's happened
- [00:02:26.250]and we're looking forward
- [00:02:27.510]to see where this goes in the future.
