- [00:00:00.250](gentle country music)
- [00:00:08.910]The project this summer has helped businesses
- [00:00:11.490]to incorporate more social media presence
- [00:00:14.460]within their business.
- [00:00:15.720]So that will help them expand their customer base,
- [00:00:19.650]reach out to people in other communities,
- [00:00:23.370]visitors in communities.
- [00:00:27.300]What I've learned is it's helped me understand
- [00:00:30.360]how to approach people,
- [00:00:32.370]bring them together with the ideas,
- [00:00:35.070]and it's really gonna be useful going forward, too,
- [00:00:37.800]for helping bring the community together as a whole.
- [00:00:42.000]Most of my work in the past has been
- [00:00:44.400]with grant writing for physical projects,
- [00:00:47.520]improvements within the downtown community.
- [00:00:50.370]So this social media project also has been
- [00:00:53.910]beneficial to help businesses
- [00:00:59.250]work in a little bit different way
- [00:01:01.080]and in expanding their visibility,
- [00:01:03.750]expanding the positive image of the downtown area,
- [00:01:07.800]which will bring the community together,
- [00:01:11.880]bring the business community together,
- [00:01:13.530]and present very positive image for the Stanton community.
- [00:01:19.830]Going into the Rural Fellows program
- [00:01:23.190]they tell you what to expect,
- [00:01:24.720]but you never really know what kind
- [00:01:27.420]of experience you're gonna have.
- [00:01:28.770]And it is 100% the program leaders,
- [00:01:32.460]and your community leaders that
- [00:01:35.520]just really make the experience what it is.
- [00:01:40.014](gentle country music)
- [00:02:33.510]The social media project really started
- [00:02:36.300]with the downtown business coalition,
- [00:02:38.460]a group that has been recently formed in Stanton
- [00:02:42.270]since the flood of 2019
- [00:02:46.740]disabled the bridge,
- [00:02:47.873]and really isolated the community.
- [00:02:50.610]And during that timeframe,
- [00:02:51.960]the businesses came together.
- [00:02:53.880]We've had several new businesses transition to new owners,
- [00:02:57.993]and the community has also received a grant
- [00:03:02.520]to do facade improvements for the businesses.
- [00:03:04.920]So in combination with the physical improvements
- [00:03:09.774]to the downtown, and new businesses,
- [00:03:12.668]the social media project will help improve
- [00:03:17.018](lawn mower rumbling)
- [00:03:18.593]the image of the community within Stanton,
- [00:03:23.811]and within northeast Nebraska.
- [00:03:24.660]Expedite the process of getting to know
- [00:03:26.760]your community leaders and your team members,
- [00:03:29.670]so that you can really just get into
- [00:03:31.230]the nitty gritty and hit the ground running.
- [00:03:33.240]And really in a short period of time,
- [00:03:35.880]just make a whole world of difference
- [00:03:39.630]for small communities and rural Nebraska.
- [00:03:42.349](gentle county music continues)
