[00:00:07.770]on campus in 2018 by 11 charters,
[00:00:11.850]and all 11 of them were looking to start a place
[00:00:17.280]where Latino women would feel comfortable on campus
[00:00:20.250]and would find their place away from home, essentially.
[00:00:23.910]And when I came to campus my freshman year,
[00:00:27.420]I decided I wanted to rush a sorority.
[00:00:31.860]I tried the traditional process
[00:00:34.080]and I didn't see the diversity that I wanted.
[00:00:37.410]And so I decided that I wanted to look elsewhere.
[00:00:40.500]And then that is where I found Multicultural Greek Council.
[00:00:44.520]And I had no idea that that existed
[00:00:46.950]before coming to the university.
[00:00:49.770]And so I looked into other pages on Instagram
[00:00:54.480]and I attended one informational
[00:00:56.760]and it so happened to be Kappa Delta Chi's.
[00:00:59.460]I saw a group of very empowered and driven women
[00:01:03.060]and instantly I felt very safe,
[00:01:05.160]and just wanted it to be a group
[00:01:07.650]that I wanted to be surrounded by all of those women
[00:01:11.220]constantly in my life.
[00:01:12.750]And that's when I decided I wanted to rush Kappa Delta Chi.
[00:01:19.590]Becoming chapter president, two years later,
[00:01:23.400]has been like the greatest gift I could've ever imagined.
[00:01:27.450]I never would've thought that that would be me.
[00:01:30.060]My sorority big was the chapter president.
[00:01:33.720]and when I came in,
[00:01:37.290]so it's even moreso inspiring to follow somewhat
[00:01:41.100]in her footsteps.
