[00:00:03.000]Hi, welcome to a new session of Husker Hub Explains.
[00:00:05.310]We hope these videos work as a visual resource
[00:00:08.250]to help get your questions answered
[00:00:09.990]about the business of being a Husker.
[00:00:11.940]In this video, I'll be going over how students
[00:00:14.460]can order an official transcript in various different ways,
[00:00:18.990]such as through our transcript request form
[00:00:21.720]or through MyRED if they are needing a paper transcript.
[00:00:25.110]We'll also be going over how students
[00:00:27.000]can order an electronic transcript
[00:00:29.490]and just general information about transcripts themselves.
[00:00:32.700]Let's get started.
[00:00:34.050]I do wanna go over transcript information that is important
[00:00:37.290]because this is access to a student's record,
[00:00:39.960]which is confidential,
[00:00:41.280]and academic transcripts are issued only
[00:00:43.290]upon request by the student.
[00:00:45.780]So a written release is necessary to issue the transcript,
[00:00:49.500]and it has to be from the student
[00:00:51.930]in order to release this to you, the student,
[00:00:55.080]or other parties.
[00:00:57.120]I do wanna also make sure I point out the difference
[00:00:59.700]between an unofficial transcript and an official transcript.
[00:01:04.680]The unofficial transcript contains
[00:01:06.600]a student's unofficial academic record from UNL
[00:01:09.870]and can be accessed by the student
[00:01:11.460]on MyRED almost immediately.
[00:01:14.010]And the official transcript must be requested
[00:01:17.040]by the student, either via MyRED
[00:01:18.900]or by completing the transcript request form.
[00:01:21.840]It must be delivered in a closed envelope
[00:01:24.330]to be considered official,
[00:01:26.580]and it must contain UNL's watermark
[00:01:29.430]verifying the authenticity
[00:01:31.410]of student's official academic records from UNL.
[00:01:38.220]We'll begin by going to registrar.unl.edu.
[00:01:41.940]On this website, under the Student Resources,
[00:01:44.730]in the dropdown menu, you can select Transcripts.
[00:01:47.820]This will have a lot of information regarding transcripts.
[00:01:51.510]We will be in this menu jumping to Ordering Instructions.
[00:01:56.370]By clicking Jump To Ordering Instructions,
[00:01:58.620]you will be brought to this flow chart
[00:02:01.020]with tabs underneath to the different methods
[00:02:03.660]of ordering a transcript, either electronic, printed,
[00:02:07.200]or through the transcript request form.
[00:02:11.610]In this video, if you're someone
[00:02:13.590]that attended after fall of 1986,
[00:02:16.740]we will be reviewing on how
[00:02:18.420]to order a printed transcript through MyRED
[00:02:22.200]or how to order an electronic transcript through MyRED.
[00:02:26.250]We will also discuss ordering transcript
[00:02:28.860]using the transcript request form
[00:02:31.350]or any special handling that a transcript may need.
[00:02:35.370]If you're someone that attended before fall of 1986,
[00:02:39.570]those records are vault records,
[00:02:41.880]and there is a separate video on how to obtain transcripts
[00:02:46.380]for anyone that attended before fall of 1986.
[00:02:50.070]That video will be in the huskerhub.unl.edu website
[00:02:54.870]under the Husker Hub Explains resources menu.
[00:02:57.990]We'll begin by going over how you can request
[00:03:00.660]a printed paper transcript
[00:03:02.670]using the transcript request form
[00:03:04.980]in the case that you were to need special handling,
[00:03:07.890]such as sending the transcript in separate envelopes,
[00:03:11.460]or if you need the option to hold the transcript
[00:03:15.120]for grades or hold for degree.
[00:03:18.420]Just note that if you do select either of these options,
[00:03:22.020]your transcript request will be on hold
[00:03:24.510]until two to three weeks after the final date
[00:03:27.600]of the semester.
[00:03:29.850]Now, to obtain the transcript request form,
[00:03:32.280]you'll scroll below this flow chart
[00:03:34.680]into the different menus down here.
[00:03:37.470]You'll select the Transcript Request Form menu.
[00:03:40.710]A dropdown will appear with a lot of information
[00:03:43.350]regarding the transcript request form
[00:03:45.690]as well as how to complete it and how to submit the form.
[00:03:51.540]It can be submitted through email, mail, or fax.
[00:03:56.160]Just please note that all of these forms
[00:03:58.770]will have to have a handwritten signature.
[00:04:01.320]We do not accept digital signatures.
[00:04:03.660]If you are needing to request a printed Law transcript,
[00:04:06.750]you will need to contact Vicki Lill
[00:04:09.600]at vicki.lill.unl.edu for more information.
[00:04:14.610]Now, to actually access the transcript request form,
[00:04:17.310]you will select this button here
[00:04:19.380]and a PDF of the transcript request form will appear.
[00:04:23.430]You can download and/or just print this document.
[00:04:27.720]As I stated before, we'll need a handwritten signature.
[00:04:31.290]And please note that transcripts will not be issued
[00:04:34.920]if there is a financial hold that exists.
[00:04:38.700]So please check your MyRED or contact our office
[00:04:41.130]if you have any questions about that.
[00:04:43.320]But please print clearly when completing the form.
[00:04:46.740]There are processing instructions located here,
[00:04:49.590]and there are multiple sections
[00:04:52.050]to include different addresses
[00:04:54.570]that you want your transcript to be sent to
[00:04:56.790]if it is being sent to multiple locations.
[00:04:59.640]And here's where you can provide your signature.
[00:05:02.220]And once it is complete, you can submit it
[00:05:05.010]to any of the methods we discussed previously.
[00:05:10.050]Now, circling back to the flow chart
[00:05:12.060]with the ordering instructions.
[00:05:13.620]If you are not needing special handling
[00:05:15.750]on your printed transcript
[00:05:17.430]and you are able to order one through MyRED,
[00:05:21.270]you can go back here, select here,
[00:05:23.670]and you have to scroll down to the sub menu,
[00:05:27.960]where more information will be given to you.
[00:05:30.810]We will move to the MyRED homepage
[00:05:33.270]to order the printed transcript.
[00:05:35.370]You'll start on MyRED and hover over the Academics tab,
[00:05:39.090]where you'll select Order Official Transcript.
[00:05:43.800]You'll have two options, either ordering a paper transcript
[00:05:46.800]or an electronic transcript.
[00:05:48.570]First, we'll focus on how to order a paper transcript.
[00:05:52.200]So, once you select this option,
[00:05:54.150]you'll be brought to this page.
[00:05:55.800]You'll select the transcript type,
[00:05:57.420]which will be an official transcript.
[00:06:00.270]You can select the quantity of transcripts
[00:06:03.240]that you would like.
[00:06:05.610]For the delivery method,
[00:06:06.720]it will be mailed to the certain address.
[00:06:11.190]Now, you will have the option of entering
[00:06:13.890]who you're sending it to.
[00:06:15.720]And for the address type,
[00:06:17.880]you can either select the permanent address that is on file,
[00:06:22.590]or you can select the option to send to other address.
[00:06:27.990]You will then have the fields to enter their address
[00:06:31.290]and ensure that it is correct before selecting Make Request.
[00:06:34.830]You'll be able to review the information that you've input.
[00:06:38.370]I had previously mentioned in this video
[00:06:40.140]that you can also obtain your unofficial transcript
[00:06:42.900]immediately on MyRED.
[00:06:45.270]To do so, you'll hover over the Academics tab
[00:06:48.330]and select the Unofficial Transcript option.
[00:06:51.510]In this page, you will have
[00:06:52.710]the UNL Unofficial Transcript type,
[00:06:55.170]and you'll select View Report.
[00:06:57.960]From there, your information will appear,
[00:07:00.780]and you will be able to download and print your transcript.
[00:07:04.530]That is located on the registrar's website
[00:07:06.660]in that same section we've been going through.
[00:07:09.360]Now, sending an electronic transcript is the fastest method.
[00:07:13.140]The delivery typically happens in the same day,
[00:07:15.810]and it is the most secure
[00:07:17.370]and environmentally friendly method to request a transcript.
[00:07:21.090]A couple of items to note
[00:07:22.440]is that you'll want to confirm with the recipient
[00:07:24.360]that they'll be able to receive an electronic copy
[00:07:27.150]of your transcript,
[00:07:28.710]and this will be sent through Parchment.
[00:07:31.830]An eTranscript is considered official in PDF format only.
[00:07:36.090]If it is printed,
[00:07:37.170]the words Copy Of Official Transcript will appear
[00:07:40.320]to indicate that the paper copy
[00:07:41.850]is not an official institutional document.
[00:07:44.760]And pop-up blockers must be disabled
[00:07:47.100]when opening the electronic transcript.
[00:07:51.780]One last item to note is that Electronic Law transcripts
[00:07:54.540]are available separately for $3,
[00:07:57.750]and you'll want to follow the same steps
[00:07:59.850]but select the Law Transcript option at step one.
[00:08:05.100]Each copy for an electronic transcript is also $3.
[00:08:11.010]We'll start on the MyRED homepage,
[00:08:12.870]and you'll hover over Academics
[00:08:14.520]and select Order Official Transcript.
[00:08:17.550]You will then be brought back to this page,
[00:08:20.040]and you will select the Order Electronic Transcript option.
[00:08:24.900]Please be aware that there is a $3 charge per copy
[00:08:29.010]for electronic transcripts.
[00:08:32.250]Once you select the blue box,
[00:08:34.920]you'll be brought to this page,
[00:08:36.870]where you will be able to enter your information.
[00:08:39.960]This information will be used to keep you updated
[00:08:43.290]on the status of your request.
[00:08:45.960]Next, you will select Transcript for the document,
[00:08:50.190]and you will select the blue hyperlink to send
[00:08:53.700]to yourself, another individual, or third party.
[00:08:58.530]On this page, you will have order options,
[00:09:00.930]such as processing time.
[00:09:02.940]For the Now delivery option,
[00:09:05.520]your transcripts will be immediately sent.
[00:09:08.490]The Hold for Grade option transcripts will not be sent
[00:09:11.190]until all final grades for the semester have been collected,
[00:09:14.850]and Hold for Degree transcripts will not be sent
[00:09:17.730]until all degrees have been conferred
[00:09:19.920]at the end of the semester.
[00:09:22.410]You will enter the recipient's name and their email address,
[00:09:27.180]and you will have a purpose for the request option.
[00:09:33.330]You will then select Continue,
[00:09:35.730]and here you will be able to see a review
[00:09:38.400]of your request and the cost.
[00:09:41.100]You'll then select Checkout.
[00:09:44.370]The next page asks that the student provide consent
[00:09:47.430]for their transcript to be sent.
[00:09:50.220]By clicking Next, you will be brought to the page
[00:09:53.520]to enter your payment information.
[00:09:55.770]Please be sure to enter the correct payment information,
[00:09:59.310]and Parchment will appear in your bank statement
[00:10:02.700]for the charge.
[00:10:05.280]Once you hit Submit Payment,
[00:10:06.750]you will have a receipt of your order
[00:10:09.180]that it is being processed.
[00:10:11.250]For any questions, please reach out
[00:10:12.930]to our office Husker Hub or email@example.com.
[00:10:18.930]That concludes this video,
[00:10:20.400]but, for more information
[00:10:21.990]about how to order an official transcript,
[00:10:24.960]if you did not see any information
[00:10:26.790]that pertained to you in this video,
[00:10:28.950]there will be other videos under the Resources menu
[00:10:32.580]of Husker Hub Explains in the Video Resources section.
[00:10:37.290]There are much more videos with more information
[00:10:39.690]regarding financial aid, student billing,
[00:10:41.850]and other topics as well.
