Lincoln Public Schools and the College of Business at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln are joining to launch Nebraska Business at Standing Bear High School. The newest LPS focus program will allow high school students to learn about the dynamic world of business and take courses to explore and learn more about potential career opportunities in business. UNL Chancellor Ronnie Green explains more.

[00:00:35.210]In 1975, when I was in high school,
[00:00:38.015]what I remember about business was learning to type, right?
[00:00:43.210]And so to have the opportunity for students now
[00:00:47.690]here with LPS to have really a much deeper dive
[00:00:52.410]into business and the understanding of businesses
[00:00:55.420]is certainly wonderful.
[00:00:57.450]This also builds on the partnership we already have
[00:01:00.920]in place that has been under development
[00:01:03.800]with LPS in Northeast High School
[00:01:06.010]and the food, energy, water and societal systems area
[00:01:08.788]with our college of Ag Sciences and Natural Resources.
[00:01:12.060]While this is different, in many respects,
[00:01:15.520]it is this growing additional partnership with LPS
[00:01:19.570]that we're very, very proud of.
[00:01:22.180]Just think about ninth grade students, as I understand it
[00:01:27.110]having core course in business and in business fundamentals
[00:01:32.770]and the opportunity for our world leading expertise
[00:01:36.920]here in the College of Business to interact
[00:01:39.270]with that in the future in this program.
[00:01:42.670]Think about the experiential opportunities
[00:01:45.420]that are going to be built upon that in
[00:01:47.957]the junior and senior levels of the students
[00:01:51.950]at Standing Bear.
[00:01:53.310]It's tremendously exciting.
