The College of Law shows how it's fulfilling N2025 Aim 5: Inclusive Excellence and Diversity. Through the Nebraska Legal Diversity Council, the college is working with statewide partners to bring diverse students to law school.

[00:00:04.040]We can't do this work on our own,
[00:00:06.510]so we've tried to engage external partners, to think
[00:00:09.980]about where the College of Law sits in this continuum
[00:00:13.620]of educating and providing diverse attorneys
[00:00:17.460]to meet the needs of diverse clients.
[00:00:20.030]So we are at the end of a pipeline
[00:00:22.820]that comes through the educational system.
[00:00:24.570]And then we are sending students out
[00:00:26.530]into a workforce that is in the legal field
[00:00:29.450]overwhelmingly white, particularly in Nebraska.
[00:00:32.520]So this past year we worked with Creighton University
[00:00:36.700]School of Law, the State Bar Association,
[00:00:40.090]and 16 of the major law firms and corporations
[00:00:43.650]in the State of Nebraska, to form a 501(c)(3) organization,
[00:00:47.950]called the Nebraska Legal Diversity Council.
[00:00:50.320]Whose sole aim is to build a pipeline
[00:00:52.470]of students to come to Creighton and Nebraska law schools,
[00:00:55.330]and to send them out
[00:00:56.320]into a legal profession that's supportive
[00:00:58.470]and that meets the needs of clients in Nebraska.
[00:01:01.930]We think this is the only organization like this
[00:01:04.890]in the country, that takes the entire legal field
[00:01:08.900]working together, to change the way diversity
[00:01:11.810]is being addressed in Nebraska.
[00:01:13.950]So we're really excited about that,
[00:01:15.280]we just hired our executive director.
[00:01:17.380]And I think that kind of collective impact approach
[00:01:21.550]will hopefully make a difference for us.
