[00:00:00.520]All of us here
[00:00:01.490]at the Business Career Center
[00:00:03.010]not only want to ensure that you leave college
[00:00:05.440]with a job offer or graduate school acceptance,
[00:00:08.230]but we also want you to
[00:00:10.730]from college into the workforce.
[00:00:13.260]During your senior year,
[00:00:14.520]you will take the final prep course
[00:00:16.180]called Professional and Life Skills.
[00:00:19.260]Throughout this course,
[00:00:20.290]you will tackle issues like
[00:00:23.470]and managing your career after graduation,
[00:00:26.070]to be sure you are prepared for that first year
[00:00:28.840]after you leave Nebraska Business.
[00:00:32.480]My favorite assignment
[00:00:33.610]was getting to interview a recent alum
[00:00:35.170]from the college.
[00:00:36.020]It was so helpful for me
[00:00:37.400]to hear from somebody who graduated
[00:00:38.640]a few years before me.
[00:00:40.200]I was also able to create a budget
[00:00:41.940]based on my salary and living expenses
[00:00:43.910]for after graduation.
[00:00:46.240]I'm graduating soon
[00:00:47.160]and this course made me feel
[00:00:48.070]so much more confident
[00:00:49.080]about what to expect in the next few years.
[00:00:52.930]One of my favorite parts of
[00:00:53.860]Professional and Life Skills
[00:00:55.130]was the emphasis on connecting
[00:00:56.400]with recent College of Business alumni
[00:00:58.340]and ultimately, using this network
[00:01:00.020]to help you transition
[00:01:01.170]into post-college life.
[00:01:04.080]I have been able to situate myself
[00:01:06.410]and bounce ideas off of a network of people
[00:01:08.270]who might ultimately trust and value you.
[00:01:11.910]It's difficult to anticipate
[00:01:13.640]what life after college might be like,
[00:01:16.030]but after completing the
[00:01:17.030]Professional and Life Skills course,
[00:01:18.890]you'll be excited to move to that new city,
[00:01:21.710]join that new professional organization,
[00:01:24.060]or start that new job,
[00:01:25.660]knowing you have the skills
[00:01:27.210]and knowledge to be successful.
