In this video, he shares about his experience as a student from outside the Department of Special Education and Communication Disorders working in SECD assistant professor Kevin Pitt's research lab.

- [00:00:36.336]you know, when we're doing the BCI stuff, we're at somebody's house

- [00:00:40.774]Um, and that's, like, totally different
- [00:00:43.943]to where, like, if I was doing an EEG study,
- [00:00:46.980]uh, or any other EEG study I've done,
- [00:00:49.682]you know, participants in their own room.
- [00:00:51.184]The lights, like, at a very particular
- [00:00:53.720]setting. The screen is, like, controlled. Like we've
- [00:00:56.990]you know, tried to control for electrical interference,
- [00:00:59.826]and sound,
- [00:01:00.794]like sound-proofing rooms and everything else, you know, so
- [00:01:03.730]you know, getting the experience of like
- [00:01:06.499]uh, actually like applying
- [00:01:08.768]this method to like
- [00:01:10.036]in like a clinical application is like
- [00:01:12.505]totally different.
- [00:01:13.840]And I actually wasn't fully expecting that
- [00:01:16.576]coming in. You know, I didn't even realize that that was something.
- [00:01:19.579]But it's, like, it's been something that I've
- [00:01:21.448]learned a lot from, and it it makes sense too.
- [00:01:24.350]If you're going to try to, like
- [00:01:26.186]actually use this technology
- [00:01:28.288]or follow, uh, any of these
- [00:01:31.658]uh findings in in real life,
- [00:01:33.760]you know, you kind of need to test them out in under
- [00:01:36.763]more real-life conditions.
- [00:01:38.431]Dr. Pitt has a pretty clear, like,
- [00:01:40.300]'This is the purpose for what I'm doing this for.'
- [00:01:43.036]And has like
- [00:01:44.370]uh, pretty clear steps on how he wants to, like
- [00:01:47.207]advance things, and it's
- [00:01:48.942]pretty helpful to like
- [00:01:50.743]get some exposure to that and see, like
- [00:01:53.179]uh, like how we can
- [00:01:54.514]drive a, uh, research program like that's
- [00:01:56.549]in this like, with like the supply nature.
- [00:01:58.918]This has been, like, really cool to be a part of.
