[00:00:11.010]Wahoo plans to make major downtown improvements
[00:00:13.900]by replacing several water mains
[00:00:15.770]and resurfacing over 20 blocks.
[00:00:17.896]I walked around town locating curb stops and water valves
[00:00:20.930]using an device called a geode,
[00:00:22.750]which uses satellites to pinpoint your location
[00:00:24.990]within a foot.
[00:00:26.130]Then, I uploaded this data into a website called gWorks.
[00:00:29.440]I ended up locating roughly 115 curb stops
[00:00:32.510]and 60 water valves.
[00:00:34.170]It's hard to summarize the positive impacts and benefits
[00:00:37.530]that this summer's fellow's project has had
[00:00:40.010]on our community and on Wahoo Utilities.
[00:00:42.460]The level of design that we are getting
[00:00:44.828]on our future water improvements downtown
[00:00:47.200]is much greater than we normally have
[00:00:48.850]on a project this size.
[00:00:50.300]So one of the biggest impacts I see
[00:00:52.040]is the start of a communication vehicle
[00:00:55.490]to get all the local businesses
[00:00:58.040]and property owners on board
[00:00:59.700]as far as what the plans are for the street overhaul,
[00:01:04.720]and as well as being a vehicle for communication
[00:01:08.500]as the progress and the project goes.

[00:01:14.410]that our community fellow brought to Wahoo Utilities.
