- [00:00:01.200]In our previous video we downloaded and installed the Horizon client in this video
- [00:00:09.400]we're going to use the Verizon client to connect to a virtual desktop and virtual application
- [00:00:16.800]when you open up your horizon client
- [00:00:21.500]if you've already configured it you'll notice a connection server listed here if you don't have anything there you can click new server type in horizon.nebraska.edu and click connect.
- [00:00:36.300]First thing it will do is prompt you for credentials
- [00:00:42.400]Make sure you enter the appropriate domain for the credentials you entered and click login
- [00:01:12.900]what's that if any case it will show you a list of virtual desktops and virtual apps that you have entitlements to
- [00:01:22.100]the first part of this I will connect with a virtual desktop before I do that I want to take a look at the settings
- [00:01:32.100]for me what I'm comfortable with for this virtual desktop is having a display any large Window mode rather than taking up my entire screen
- [00:01:44.400]additionally I want to check my sharing because I want my virtual desktop to be able to connect to resources on my physical desktop I'm in front of
- [00:01:56.700]a select
- [00:01:58.500]share your local files and allow access to removable storage is aren't selected by default Subway on select those you notice those go away
- [00:02:07.400]so go ahead and select those
- [00:02:10.300]reply then click okay
- [00:02:13.800]and now I can text my virtual desktop
- [00:02:30.500]I got an air but not to worry it will load anyway
- [00:02:40.000]trust me it logs me into the virtual desktop and I can work with it just like the physical desktop I was sitting in front of something I'd like to show you go to file a
- [00:02:52.200]I got to see those two resources that it mapped from my physical device to my virtual desktop I have a USB drive to why
- [00:03:03.800]and here are resources for my C drive that it map to Z
- [00:03:11.400]so as I'm working with files if I need something for my physical desktop I can access those from these additionally if I'm working on an application or I need to save something
- [00:03:23.700]obviously off the virtual desktop I can copy it to these resources
- [00:03:29.900]if you did not change those settings of prior to connecting to your virtual machine you can still access those settings under option
- [00:03:42.200]shared folders here we can see that information again
- [00:03:50.600]now I'm going to log out of the virtual desktop
- [00:03:55.500]sign out and I'm going to take a look at a virtual application
- [00:04:02.900]do we have IBM SPSS 26 I'll go ahead and connect to that
- [00:04:13.900]and we can see that it is loaded the application
- [00:04:19.500]no this uses those local resources just like a virtual desktop did so if I want to
- [00:04:32.100]open a file
- [00:04:42.100]as I work with SPSS and I decide I want to maybe I want to open
- [00:04:49.700]a file
- [00:04:52.800]click on lookin and you'll notice here the USB device plugged into my physical device has mapped here is why
- [00:05:04.600]and my hard drive my C drive
- [00:05:07.700]has mapped here as a z drive and I can access those locations to open a file
- [00:05:18.200]or save
- [00:05:20.700]something I might be working on to those locations and that's how you would get it to your physical device rather than having a stored on a folder
- [00:05:31.000]on the backend somewhere
- [00:05:33.300]this is what we want to be looking for
- [00:05:36.600]as weird as we're saving our data
- [00:05:51.700]and it can be a little bit slow
- [00:06:15.200]okay there we go
- [00:06:18.100]so as an example
- [00:06:22.200]open the desktop
- [00:06:30.400]and just show now I'm looking at here I will select all files
- [00:06:42.900]if you notice I have the executable here just so you can see this is my physical desktop
- [00:06:49.300]the sub location and since I'm looking in that location here you can see that right there so
- [00:07:04.400]cancel and I'll exit SPSS
- [00:07:14.100]and there you have a look at using the Horizon client to access a virtual desktop and a virtual application
