- [00:00:05.980]In the last video
- [00:00:06.880]we found the mean for all three of our genotypes,
- [00:00:09.690]and then we rounded it to the 10th decimal place
- [00:00:12.600]using formulas in Excel.
- [00:00:15.280]So for this for this video,
- [00:00:17.110]we want to take that data,
- [00:00:18.470]and we want to create a line graph.
- [00:00:20.490]So here, I have all three of my genotypes,
- [00:00:23.570]the mean for each date that data was collected in 2015.
- [00:00:28.730]So the first thing I do is highlight the data.
- [00:00:31.840]Go up to Insert.
- [00:00:33.970]Go over to Line Graphs.
- [00:00:36.190]I can click the arrow,
- [00:00:38.130]and I'll see that there are several different options
- [00:00:40.480]for Line Graphs.
- [00:00:41.830]For this one, I want one
- [00:00:43.730]that's going to show a trend over time.
- [00:00:46.650]So I'll select that one.
- [00:00:49.170]Here's my line graph.
- [00:00:50.370]However, it's not quite complete.
- [00:00:52.810]The first thing I notice is that the dates are not correct.
- [00:00:55.560]I want the dates to be the dates that I have over here.
- [00:00:59.610]The dates that data was collected in 2015.
- [00:01:04.810]So to change that, I go to Format,
- [00:01:08.490]I'm going to, it'll say Chart Area,
- [00:01:10.560]I'm going to click that,
- [00:01:12.270]and go to Horizontal Axis, Format Selection,
- [00:01:17.700]and I have a sidebar that comes up.
- [00:01:20.280]So if it comes up,
- [00:01:21.860]and it looks like either one of these,
- [00:01:24.760]just remember you want to go to Axis Options,
- [00:01:27.630]which are the bars.
- [00:01:29.270]And so right now
- [00:01:30.500]my dates have automatically been selected for me,
- [00:01:34.070]but I want the dates that I have there,
- [00:01:36.520]so I just go to Text Axis,
- [00:01:38.910]and the dates are now correct.
- [00:01:41.170]So X out of there,
- [00:01:43.250]And, now I want to change my horizontal Axis,
- [00:01:46.320]which is the greenness score,
- [00:01:48.170]to just go to the maximum of 100 instead of 120.
- [00:01:53.380]So to do that, I'll go to Format,
- [00:01:57.100]and I'll click the arrow,
- [00:01:58.900]and I'll go to Vertical Value Axis, Format Selection,
- [00:02:04.210]and for the bounds, I'm just going to select 100.
- [00:02:09.220]And I can X out of there.
- [00:02:11.420]And always make sure to add your chart title.
- [00:02:15.060]So 2015, I'll just call this, let's see, Greeness Score.
- [00:02:20.181](keyboard keys clicking)
- [00:02:23.460]And, I also want to title my X and my Y axis.
- [00:02:28.080]So to do that, I'll go up to Design,
- [00:02:31.860]Add Chart Element, Axis Titles.
- [00:02:35.470]There's one for my horizontal axis.
- [00:02:38.460]I'll go to Add Chart Element again, Axis Title,
- [00:02:42.170]and Primary Vertical.
- [00:02:44.460]And so, oops,
- [00:02:48.130]you gotta add date.
- [00:02:51.450]And this one, the Y axis is the greenness score.
- [00:02:56.933](keyboard keys clicking)
- [00:03:00.550]And so, there we have a line graph that is now complete.
- [00:03:04.690]So, if I wanted to change the dates are,
- [00:03:08.220]I want to change the greenness score,
- [00:03:11.706]and if you have the option of having a plus sign,
- [00:03:16.260]the chart elements, you can always do it this way too.
- [00:03:18.630]So we just click the Chart Elements,
- [00:03:21.900]and you would see that it says the axis.
- [00:03:24.570]So you could click the arrow,
- [00:03:27.140]and you could go to More Options.
- [00:03:29.790]And here you have the, I think this is,
- [00:03:34.380]this is for the horizontal.
- [00:03:36.400]So that would change the dates.
- [00:03:38.460]And if I wanted to change the vertical,
- [00:03:40.540]I could go to vertical value.
- [00:03:42.550]And then there are the bounds for the greeness score.
- [00:03:46.610]And then I can also change my titles on there.
- [00:03:50.070]So, Axis Titles, could click that arrow,
- [00:03:54.200]and then I can delete,
- [00:03:57.390]or add my axis titles.
- [00:04:00.280]And that is how you create a line graph in Excel.
