Building off other videos where you learn to collect data using a scale. We will used the scaled data to create a bar graph that helps the viewer visualize the data in a better way. Watch step by step as the author Kristina Alas demonstrates how to create a bar graph that is descriptive and customizable.

[00:00:08.080]We are going to create a bar graph in Excel
[00:00:10.900]for our greenness scores.
[00:00:13.620]And we're gonna use a bar chart for this information,
[00:00:16.890]because they're useful when comparing two sets of data,
[00:00:19.990]and that's what we have.

[00:00:23.010]We have our different varieties, A through O,
[00:00:25.430]and we have the green scores we gave them for May 26th
[00:00:29.810]and for June 22nd.
[00:00:32.070]So the first thing we're going to do is highlight our data.

[00:00:39.320]and here we see our bar charts.

[00:00:43.360]Go to more column charts,
[00:00:46.200]and we don't want this one, and I'll show you why.
[00:00:49.740]So we can, we see that there are a lot of other dates here,
[00:00:53.750]and that's easy to get rid of.
[00:00:56.230]So we'll just click our plus sign.
[00:00:58.410]Go over to our access, more options,
[00:01:02.020]and we'll click these little bars.
[00:01:04.040]And then axis options, and just click text axis.
[00:01:08.620]And so you can see that for variety A,
[00:01:10.830]we have both for May and June, but they're not together,
[00:01:15.560]so it's a little hard to compare those.
[00:01:18.550]So we'll delete that.
[00:01:21.466]Our information, our data is still highlighted,

[00:01:26.900]Back to our bar chart, click the arrow.
[00:01:29.330]More column charts, and here is the chart we want.
[00:01:33.970]So the blue bars are going to be for May,
[00:01:37.740]and the orange bars are going to be for June.
[00:01:40.730]And so we can compare variety A on how it did in May
[00:01:45.350]to the green score that it had in June.
[00:01:48.670]And always make sure you add titles.
[00:01:52.020]So this is going to be
[00:01:54.750]our variety.
[00:01:58.040]And on the other side we have,
[00:02:01.280]let's see if I can get it all, our green score.
[00:02:05.940]And we'll call this Greenness Comparison.
