- [00:00:12.440]I'm here to tell you a very nice, interesting story.
- [00:00:19.220]This story is about a kid who was very talented and
- [00:00:24.080]she was unique, different from all her siblings.
- [00:00:30.380]the character of our story is called Anne. Anne was a
- [00:00:35.150]very talented kid.
- [00:00:37.310]And hence she used to be very Peculiar about everything.
- [00:00:42.230]She liked to identify new things.
- [00:00:44.630]She liked learning new things at a very little age. Anne, with three years
- [00:00:49.250]old.
- [00:00:50.150]And she lived with her parents and a brother and sister,
- [00:00:56.600]Anne lived in a region called Mwansa in Tanzania,
- [00:01:02.420]Anne liked studying,
- [00:01:04.670]but she liked studying current issues,
- [00:01:08.030]not the studies in class.
- [00:01:11.030]She would go to class and not be attentive to the teacher,
- [00:01:15.260]but every time she was in class,
- [00:01:18.680]she was overthinking about what the teacher was teaching.
- [00:01:23.750]So the teachers complained to Anne's
- [00:01:28.480]parents that Anne is not attentive in class.
- [00:01:33.080]So the parents scolded Anne because Anne was not attentive in class,
- [00:01:39.200]but, Anne, it's not like she was not listening to the teacher, but,
- [00:01:45.050]Anne was overthinking whatever teacher or the teacher was teaching, every time a
- [00:01:49.370]teacher explain something,
- [00:01:50.930]then I would think why the thing occurs.
- [00:01:55.310]How does it occur? What happens when it occurs?
- [00:01:58.970]So she was more interested on the mechanism more than
- [00:02:03.890]that, just a theory. So the parents scolded
- [00:02:08.870]Anne almost everyday because even at home,
- [00:02:12.530]she used to stay alone and do things when she can identify new things.
- [00:02:17.240]And because she was too young,
- [00:02:18.700]the parents thought that Anne is not attentive,
- [00:02:22.700]is not listening to them is not respective.
- [00:02:26.390]But when Anne grew up one day,
- [00:02:30.590]she was seven years and she met this
- [00:02:35.840]psychiatrist and the parents wanted the psychiatrist to
- [00:02:40.640]talk to Anne. When the psychiatrists had 20 minutes of
- [00:02:45.440]time with Anne, she was very impressed with how Anne is talented,
- [00:02:50.300]very intelligent, very idealistic, very innovative.
- [00:02:55.430]So the psychiatrist,
- [00:02:57.350]instead of feeling sorry for the parents,
- [00:03:01.390]she congratulated them that they got a very talented kid.
- [00:03:07.300]After that counseling to the parents,
- [00:03:09.850]the counseling that was supposed to be to Anne, the kid,
- [00:03:13.930]then the parents give on an opportunity
- [00:03:19.090]to explore her talents. So they became more supportive.
- [00:03:23.920]They became more understanding. And until today,
- [00:03:28.630]Anne only spent five years in primary school instead of seven years like
- [00:03:33.430]everybody else.
- [00:03:34.900]And she's a very genius and innovative kid.
- [00:03:39.310]She has identified a lot of solutions and she's now
- [00:03:44.800]an icon to her region.
- [00:03:47.980]So let's--
- [00:03:51.010]the moral of this story that-- let's not hide our talents because we are
- [00:03:55.990]different from others or because we are unique from others.
- [00:04:00.070]Let's embrace our talents and strengths.
