- [00:00:00.482](upbeat music)
- [00:00:05.176]We worked here in Gothenburg in two main projects
- [00:00:08.390]and the first project was the Impact Center.
- [00:00:10.920]And the Impact Center is a building
- [00:00:13.130]that's contained four buildings in the project
- [00:00:16.990]and the first one is a early learning center
- [00:00:19.790]as well as a health and family center.
- [00:00:22.280]An event center and a sports center.
- [00:00:24.920]We built the website for the campaign raise
- [00:00:27.240]to raise funding and money for the Impact Center.
- [00:00:30.920]And the second project was building
- [00:00:32.910]a Trail Master Plan here in Gothenburg.
- [00:00:35.640]And the idea behind the Trail Master Plan
- [00:00:38.250]is to create a more healthy lifestyle,
- [00:00:41.930]as well as sustainable
- [00:00:43.359]by providing people
- [00:00:44.930]a recreational place to walk and bike.
- [00:00:48.510]Being here in Gothenburg and connecting with people
- [00:00:52.342]that have highly influenced
- [00:00:54.242]and taught me about inclusive leadership
- [00:00:56.179]and connecting with people and being easy to connect with
- [00:01:00.142]is very important in order to give everyone the sense
- [00:01:04.329]of belonging and connection in the community.
- [00:01:08.597]At the end of this experience
- [00:01:10.067]in the city of Gothenburg,
- [00:01:12.197]we can better identify some of the impacts of our projects.
- [00:01:17.480]On the project of the Impact Center
- [00:01:19.971]we have been able to furnish a very good,
- [00:01:23.649]a very well done website
- [00:01:25.184]that will be used in the Capital Campaign.
- [00:01:28.800]For the project of the Trail Master Plan
- [00:01:31.190]we have been able to present to the city council
- [00:01:34.290]a Trail Master Plan with the help of the
- [00:01:36.794]input of different cities
- [00:01:40.861]from the survey that we provided.
- [00:01:45.690]At the end of this experience we have learned
- [00:01:48.750]different skills and we have gained different knowledge.
- [00:01:52.890]We have gained technology skills,
- [00:01:55.950]some professionalism
- [00:01:57.560]from different people that we interacted with.
- [00:02:00.560]And we have been able to learn about leadership
- [00:02:04.590]and how it can be able to impact the community.
- [00:02:07.760]The fellows completed two very important
- [00:02:09.885]but very different projects this summer.
- [00:02:12.420]The first was the creation of the website
- [00:02:14.700]for the new Impact Center planned for Gothenburg.
- [00:02:17.500]This center is designed to make a lasting difference
- [00:02:19.900]for Gothenburg's children and families
- [00:02:22.000]by providing access to high quality childcare,
- [00:02:25.280]as well as offering Healthy Family Center,
- [00:02:28.200]a sports training center,
- [00:02:29.590]and an events center.
- [00:02:31.050]This website is the center's introduction to the community
- [00:02:34.000]and will help us launch the campaign
- [00:02:35.525]that will make the building and its services possible.
- [00:02:38.944]The second project was the Gothenburg Trail Master Plan
- [00:02:42.660]and implementation study.
- [00:02:44.630]The proposed plan will create an integrated
- [00:02:46.940]city-wide trail system that residents of Gothenburg
- [00:02:50.070]will use for decades for exercise
- [00:02:52.490]and to connect friends and neighbors across town.
- [00:02:55.310]The fellows time and effort will leave behind a plan
- [00:02:57.880]to give visitors,
- [00:02:58.880]children and families a safe way
- [00:03:00.900]to travel throughout the community.
- [00:03:04.330]Through this experience I gained better delegation skills,
- [00:03:07.610]but more than that,
- [00:03:08.520]I've learned new skills to help me
- [00:03:10.060]go beyond my comfort zone,
- [00:03:11.720]to get to know new people in a new way.
- [00:03:17.187]We've really tried to make connections
- [00:03:19.090]for our rural prosperities interns
- [00:03:21.060]and let them get on the farm,
- [00:03:23.710]let them see businesses from the inside out,
- [00:03:26.880]let them see what small town leadership feels like
- [00:03:30.470]and what our busy schedules are like.
- [00:03:33.270]And I think they've really
- [00:03:34.290]gotten to know a lot of people here in town,
- [00:03:38.460]make connections tight with them
- [00:03:40.490]to make friendships that will last for their lifetimes.
- [00:03:44.080]We hope anyway.
- [00:03:45.040]And we hope they'll want to come back
- [00:03:46.350]and see the impact that they've made here.
- [00:03:48.846](tranquil, happy music)
