- [00:14:08.820]Julia DeLaRosa: First of all kind of give an overview of some of the different resources available on campus regarding both billing and financing the College of.
- [00:14:18.300]Julia DeLaRosa: The College degree, but then also managing money once on campus so we'll kind of touch on both of those pieces and we'll finish up the session by going through some frequently asked questions that we get as well as live question and answer opened up to the entire.
- [00:14:33.990]Julia DeLaRosa: That being said, you don't necessarily have to save all of your questions toward the end if we're going through slides and content pieces and you'd like a little bit more clarification or question comes up feel free at any time to put those questions through the Q amp a feature.
- [00:14:49.530]Julia DeLaRosa: We do ask that you use the Q amp a feature in order to type those in so that we can track which ones, have been answered and which ones, have not the chat feature is really useful if you want to introduce yourself, you want to let us know where you're from.
- [00:15:01.950]Julia DeLaRosa: or just say hi or let us know if you're a student or if you're a parent a family member with us.
- [00:15:07.350]Julia DeLaRosa: But like I said throughout the session we'd be happy to answer questions as they come along as well as at the end i'm likely, many of us have probably use zoom at some point in the past year and a half.
- [00:15:18.390]Julia DeLaRosa: What may or may not be a little bit different is the functionality of our webinar versus.
- [00:15:22.530]Julia DeLaRosa: The meeting function, so if you're attending this webinar not as a panelist you probably noticed that you.
- [00:15:27.450]Julia DeLaRosa: don't have the option to turn on your MIC or turn on your camera and then there's just a couple of buttons at the bottom allowing you to either Q amp a.
- [00:15:35.130]Julia DeLaRosa: raise hand or put something in the chat but we're happy that you're here we can see the names kind of our participant list and hope to connect with you via or a question and answer in our chat.
- [00:15:45.930]Julia DeLaRosa: So i'm holding this session and we'll go through a lot of information pieces so just wanted to let you know that this session is being recorded and then we will send out.
- [00:15:54.270]Julia DeLaRosa: The presentation slides, which will include links, if there are links throughout the presentation, following this session for all those who registered.
- [00:16:01.410]Julia DeLaRosa: And if not just give us your email address and i'll be sure to connect you with that so without further ado I think we'll go ahead and get started with that first content piece and i'll be with your help, with building in management overview.
- [00:16:15.900]Kristy Saunders: hi Hello everyone.
- [00:16:17.610]Kristy Saunders: And you can go ahead and advance the slide so For those of you who do not know.
- [00:16:24.420]Kristy Saunders: The husker hub is the one stop shop on campus, so we are where you go have to handle all the business side of being a husker so that way you can focus on your academics, when you leave.
- [00:16:35.370]Kristy Saunders: So this is where you can go to get your questions answered about your student billing about scholarships and financial aid.
- [00:16:40.860]Kristy Saunders: And course registration your academic transcripts.
- [00:16:43.740]Kristy Saunders: I would just say that when it comes to course registration we help you register, we do not help you choose courses so be sure to still use your academic advisor.
- [00:16:51.960]Kristy Saunders: To help you, since they know a lot more, and I would just directly to psychology courses which are my undergrad and that's not fun so listen to your advisors, when you move forward with that.
- [00:17:03.360]Kristy Saunders: So the first thing I wanted to point out, especially for the parents on the call is ferpa so For those of you that have not heard of this before.
- [00:17:10.410]Kristy Saunders: This is the family, education, rights and privacy act of 1974 and this basically means that college students have access and control over their educational record.
- [00:17:19.650]Kristy Saunders: So for any of the parents on the call just know that when you are calling in on behalf of your students.
- [00:17:24.360]Kristy Saunders: There are some things we can and cannot share with you, without your students permission, so if you have any concerns over that or any questions just be sure to go to for that you and l.edu slash parents.
- [00:17:36.240]Kristy Saunders: And it clearly lays out what we can share versus what we cannot share, and if you ever wanted to make sure to avoid that just make sure your student is on the call with you or close by, they can hop on the phone and say hey i'm cool you talking to my mom and that way we can talk freely.
- [00:17:53.550]Kristy Saunders: So, first I want to go over the estimated cost of attendance so you're going to hear people talk about what they call direct costs versus indirect costs.
- [00:18:02.160]Kristy Saunders: And what we mean by that is that direct cost means that it is something that is build directly to you from us as the institution.
- [00:18:08.820]Kristy Saunders: And indirect costs are those that we see students tend to need to pay for.
- [00:18:13.350]Kristy Saunders: But they may not be billed by us but it's good for you to know for budgeting reasons, so when it comes to direct costs, the primary ones are tuition and fees.
- [00:18:22.530]Kristy Saunders: which the numbers, you see here are for a full year basic 15 credit hours per semester, as well as housing and meal plan so if you have a student who's living on campus.
- [00:18:32.370]Kristy Saunders: This is the number that you should be looking at if they're living off campus just know this is actually pretty on par with rent in the area, as well as for paying for groceries.
- [00:18:41.310]Kristy Saunders: So you may not be directly build is a good thing to use for budgeting so for a nebraska resident you're looking at direct costs of about $21,792 per year.
- [00:18:52.440]Kristy Saunders: And for non resident or out of state students you're looking at $38,922 per year and that's before any of your scholarships and financial aid have been applied.
- [00:19:05.640]Kristy Saunders: So That being said, if you want to see about getting any sort of financial assistance to help pay for that you're going to want to file your fafsa if you have not already done so.
- [00:19:15.300]Kristy Saunders: Be sure to file that free application for federal student aid, even if you don't think you'd be eligible for any grants and scholarships it's still worth your time.
- [00:19:25.200]Kristy Saunders: So, in order to do that you're going to go to fafsa.gov or the parent website student aid.gov where you can complete the FSA ID sign up, which is a fancy way to stay login information or, as well as sign up and apply for that fafsa.
- [00:19:42.180]Kristy Saunders: And the reason why this is so important is that, like I said, this can help you be eligible for a variety of scholarships many external scholarships, as well as some institutional scholarships.
- [00:19:51.270]Kristy Saunders: do require you to file a fafsa in order to be eligible So even if just say you don't think you'll be eligible for grants there might be some external scholarships that you could be eligible for that need that fafsa on there.
- [00:20:02.040]Kristy Saunders: For grants, you also could be eligible for federal State University grants and that could be like your pell grant your federal supplementary educational opportunity grant.
- [00:20:10.260]Kristy Saunders: among many others and what's great about this is we call this gift aid, which means you do not have to repay this so that is just something goes towards your bill and it's basically free money for you to pay for your education.
- [00:20:24.870]Kristy Saunders: Next is federal work, study, so this is something else that is available to you.
- [00:20:29.790]Kristy Saunders: Based on your need from the fafsa, so this is basically a federally sponsored job that allows for you to work on campus while you are attending school.
- [00:20:39.510]Kristy Saunders: So just so you are aware, if you already see this on your award letter just know that you do have to apply for a position through handshake be hired and this award book should be paid out to you on a bi weekly just like any other job.
- [00:20:54.180]Kristy Saunders: So just be aware of that, with this in mind if you're using your award letter as budgeting.
- [00:20:59.370]Kristy Saunders: This is not directly credited to your bills so much as paid out to you, like a normal paycheck so I always tell people just leave that out of your budgeting sheet so that way you can use that for things like books and just living expenses personnel expenses that kind of stuff.
- [00:21:16.020]Kristy Saunders: So it'd be other things you can be able to for our student and parent loans and you can go ahead and advance the slide.
- [00:21:22.890]Kristy Saunders: So for federal loans for students, there are two types there's subsidized and unsubsidized.
- [00:21:28.230]Kristy Saunders: And the subsidized is a need based loan which basically means that you do not accrued interest, while you're in school.
- [00:21:33.420]Kristy Saunders: Well unsubsidized is a loan that does accrue interest, but you still do get that lovely repayment period where you don't need to make any payments on it.
- [00:21:41.100]Kristy Saunders: until after you graduate in fact not until six months after you graduate, which is something that is pretty unique even for alternative loans or extra loans, you may find.
- [00:21:50.880]Kristy Saunders: So even if you're not eligible for other types of aid loans are great failsafe for you, so that way, if you have a surprise.
- [00:21:57.390]Kristy Saunders: costs come up or you just need a little bit of extra breathing room to help pay a bill it's a great option for you and just because you're offering it does not mean you have to accept it so just keep that in mind.
- [00:22:10.050]Kristy Saunders: So for the parents on the call if you are also interested in borrowing to help your student pay for college.
- [00:22:15.540]Kristy Saunders: The other thing you can do is actually do a parent plus loan and you will apply for this as student aid.gov, it is a separate application.
- [00:22:22.980]Kristy Saunders: So you do need to fill out the fafsa as well as do the parent plus loan application that does require a.
- [00:22:29.400]Kristy Saunders: Credit check So if you have any questions about that or how to do that, or if it's something that you might need give us a call, we can absolutely talk to you about whether or not that's something you might need to optimize your aid package for sure.
- [00:22:43.170]Kristy Saunders: So, finally, if you already have your award letter you found your fafsa you know what you're getting.
- [00:22:48.210]Kristy Saunders: And I apologize I miss updating the years on this slide so I promise we didn't go back in time I do, I am aware that it's fall 2021.
- [00:22:56.520]Kristy Saunders: But a fall 2021 you're going to see your bill generated around mid August so that's when you're actually going to see the true bill you're not going to be basing it off of the estimated cost of attendance anymore.
- [00:23:06.990]Kristy Saunders: And that will be due on Sep tember 12th.
- [00:23:09.930]Kristy Saunders: Now you will actually have your a disperse about a week prior to classes, so that way you should have a good idea of what is leftover if anything to be refunded to you.
- [00:23:20.730]Kristy Saunders: or just say you still have a bill do that gives you a bit of breathing room to either sign up for the husker payment plan which you must sign up for by February 12 or sorry by Sep tember 12th excuse me.
- [00:23:31.560]Kristy Saunders: or gives you some time to pay off that bill spring 2022 the bill is due on February 12 with a very similar timeline.
- [00:23:39.810]Kristy Saunders: And just quick shout out if you haven't done so already sign up for direct deposit and I will promise you, Nicole we'll talk about that later as well, because it saves you time and just makes it a lot easier for you to have those funds get directly to you.
- [00:23:57.540]Kristy Saunders: So complete your fafsa by April 1 every year, so just make sure you're completing that fafsa as you move forward that opens in October, so if you haven't already done so, this year, make sure you do it early next year, so you can get eligible for even more funding.
- [00:24:13.410]Kristy Saunders: And we also have a scholarship application and that opens in mid November so parents on the call as well students mark your calendars.
- [00:24:19.830]Kristy Saunders: There is another scholarship application that becomes available for future years for funding.
- [00:24:24.180]Kristy Saunders: is just right in your my red it's due by February 1 you fill it out and it puts you in the running for a number of different departmental scholarships so something to really watch for when we get into the first couple months of your semester.
- [00:24:38.100]Kristy Saunders: And with that i'll leave you with our contact information i'm also filling in for janine so you're stuck with my mug for a few more minutes but.
- [00:24:45.810]Kristy Saunders: definitely take a look at this take a picture of if you want, but also, you can go to our website, and you can find all this information, we are here for you, for any of these processes and just go ahead and give us a call we're happy to help.
- [00:24:57.840]Julia DeLaRosa: Create chrissy i'm going to pause you really quickly, because I think your slide on loans has generated a lot question so.
- [00:25:03.690]Julia DeLaRosa: Sure let's go ahead and dive into those right now so they're not burning on people's minds, so a couple of the questions olivia.
- [00:25:12.780]Julia DeLaRosa: To the first two are kind of on accepting of a student loan The first one is saying you accepted a student loan, but you don't want to want if they don't want it, do you have to do something to decline, it.
- [00:25:22.890]Julia DeLaRosa: And the second one was if you're offered a student loan, do you have to accept it, beginning of the year or can you accept it, if you need it during the year.
- [00:25:32.070]Kristy Saunders: I love both of those questions so for the first one let's just say you already accepted it, and now you realize you don't need it.
- [00:25:38.250]Kristy Saunders: So for you it's very simple because it hasn't dispersed yet so what you can do is just give us a call or send us an email saying hey.
- [00:25:46.710]Kristy Saunders: Could you put that back into an offered status, so that way you have it for later in case you need it, but it won't disperse right away.
- [00:25:54.090]Kristy Saunders: So you can email us at husker hub@ul.edu and we can definitely get that to be switched over to an offered status for you.
- [00:26:02.160]Kristy Saunders: As for the other person very similar if you are not sure if you need it or not, you do not need to accept it right away.
- [00:26:09.930]Kristy Saunders: Basically, a good a good rule to follow is that you're just going to want to make sure that if you need loans for the fall semester that you accept by the last week of the Semester.
- [00:26:20.040]Kristy Saunders: And if you but you also still could accept it later, but that just avoids any delays, but you have plenty of time to decide, so if you want to wait until you see what aid comes through if you're able to pay the bill on your own you do not need to accept it right away.
- [00:26:35.250]Kristy Saunders: So, then the next question I see is so it's not too late to apply for loans, both by the students and parents.
- [00:26:41.400]Kristy Saunders: That.
- [00:26:41.820]Kristy Saunders: is correct, so for parents so once again file your fafsa as long as you already ever fafsa filed, then you were golden and even if you don't you still have time.
- [00:26:52.680]Kristy Saunders: But what I would like to say is that if you have your fafsa filed and the parents, they might take out the parent plus loan, you can do so, basically.
- [00:26:59.970]Kristy Saunders: Up until once again that last week of the fall semester, or the last week of the spring semester, depending on what semester, you are applying for.
- [00:27:07.590]Kristy Saunders: If you are hoping to have that apply to your bill when it's due on Sep tember 12 parents get that application started, probably by end of July.
- [00:27:19.410]Kristy Saunders: That way, you have plenty of breathing room and you know it's going to apply for students, you, you can just accept it up until i'd say middle of August, if you want it to apply in time and just be sure that you do all the checklist required for that.
- [00:27:34.980]Kristy Saunders: Okay, oh man there's so many questions this is great okay.
- [00:27:38.760]Kristy Saunders: So how do you.
- [00:27:40.650]Kristy Saunders: Do you want me to.
- [00:27:41.970]Julia DeLaRosa: yeah just gonna say lessons looks like the first three are kind of on fafsa and loans and the last one is on student bills, which you might be getting to the next couple of slides but.
- [00:27:51.810]Julia DeLaRosa: However, works best for you.
- [00:27:53.310]Kristy Saunders: Okay um.
- [00:27:54.270]Kristy Saunders: I will answer these and then we'll move forward and then I can keep typing in between two and then, when we get to the Q amp a if there's any that I feel like are very common I can just give a quick.
- [00:28:03.540]Kristy Saunders: thing to, but how do you initiate a student loan, so that is if, once you file a fafsa and you get your award offer than there actually will be alone offer out there for you.
- [00:28:14.700]Kristy Saunders: So, and that is for a student loan So if you don't already have a fafsa on file you're going to want to go to that student aid.gov and file that fafsa.
- [00:28:23.580]Kristy Saunders: Complete all of your checklist items and once you see an award those should be out there for you, and then you go in an acceptance or decline your age just through your my read like you would any other type of aid.
- [00:28:36.600]Kristy Saunders: Our loans offer to students yearly yes every year they file a fafsa so just make sure you do, that every single year.
- [00:28:43.410]Kristy Saunders: And the amount of loans that you're eligible for does increase as you move up as a student so for your first year you're going to see around 5500 offered to you, and then it will keep going up each semester.
- [00:28:55.380]Kristy Saunders: or not each semester, each year, because we know that also your your educational expenses might go a little higher or at the very least, you might be living off campus and have more expenses, so they do tend to go up every year as well.
- [00:29:08.370]Okay.
- [00:29:12.930]Kristy Saunders: So someone says so, if we have our fafsa and already by my daughter should already have gotten a loan offer.
- [00:29:18.570]Kristy Saunders: As long as you've completed all of your checklist items in your my read you should have a an award pretty quick after getting those documents in it usually takes a couple of weeks for us to process.
- [00:29:29.040]Kristy Saunders: But if you do not see an award offer out there already, then you might want to check and make sure there's no outstanding to do list items in your my read, which you can just check that by.
- [00:29:38.250]Kristy Saunders: It will be on the student side, but the student can just log into their my red go to the financial aid tab and you will see in the outstanding to do list items that will be the only thing that might keep you from having an award offer out there at this point.
- [00:29:54.900]Kristy Saunders: All right, and then I will go ahead and so for the question about income has changed, I will answer that by typing and then let's go ahead and go into monthly bills and then for everyone, keep putting your questions in there i'll be typing to you.
- [00:30:12.510]Julia DeLaRosa: Perfect so I had to go ahead and answer that question about one thing bills are opposites, are the answer is yes, there are monthly bills, it will appear on the 25th of each month and then be doing doing the following 12 of the month, so.
- [00:30:26.970]Julia DeLaRosa: What the kind of charges what may appear on those bills it'll it'll kind of depend on how you have your plan set up and we'll kind of get into this, the next couple of slides.
- [00:30:35.940]Julia DeLaRosa: But essentially if you pay all of your tuition and fees, is it getting lump sum in that previous slide that that christy talk about that September 12 do bill and that February 12 do bill.
- [00:30:46.740]Julia DeLaRosa: Then built langley the monthly expenses might be things that kind of come up your office semester so let's go ahead and get into that a little bit and next couple of slides so understanding the consolidated, so I think you see this, so you right.
- [00:31:00.570]Kristy Saunders: yeah go ahead, you can go ahead and advance.
- [00:31:04.650]Kristy Saunders: So i'm very much like just what was shared so what's on your monthly consolidated bill like we said it is it basically goes on to your account the 25th of each month.
- [00:31:14.400]Kristy Saunders: So while you are going to probably get the biggest one in August so that's going to include like your tuition and fees as long as you're registered if you are, if you are going to be living on campus your housing and any sort of.
- [00:31:27.480]Kristy Saunders: meal plan charges, but every month, just so you're using your end card to purchase things if you get a parking pass.
- [00:31:34.200]Kristy Saunders: Anything along those lines those will still show up a monthly bills moving forward so basically anything you purchase from your end Carter apply to your bill, we will give you an email, as well as show what your do of the 25th of each month.
- [00:31:47.250]Kristy Saunders: So on that consolidated bill, you will see the classic charges like I just mentioned, and also any n card purchases and that's.
- [00:31:54.000]Kristy Saunders: most commonly are like your bookstore it just say you were going to the Union and purchasing food from the Union with your end card that will show up there on as well.
- [00:32:02.250]Kristy Saunders: printing services parking permits and citations those dang parking tickets those get you every time.
- [00:32:09.120]Kristy Saunders: If you are using athletic athletic tickets and then, of course, if you're getting phone plans for the university or health or health insurance.
- [00:32:16.020]Kristy Saunders: Also on your monthly consolidated bill you're also going to see your scholarships and financial aid, so it will also show what has been applied, so you can see, the total amount that is do it will show how much has been dispersed and then how much is remaining for you to pay.
- [00:32:29.430]Kristy Saunders: same thing goes, for, if you are receiving any sort of third party benefits so.
- [00:32:33.930]Kristy Saunders: Like Joe will talk about later um any sort of GI funds or any other types of organizations that are giving you funds external scholarships will also show up there.
- [00:32:42.600]Kristy Saunders: And also will let you know if you have a refund coming to you so even if you don't have a bill, do you will still get this consolidated bill letting you know hey is so much you were do but guess what you get a refund who doesn't like that and i'll tell you how much you should be receiving.
- [00:33:00.990]Kristy Saunders: So, like we said it's available on the 25th of each month, this first one is going to be a little bit sooner, for you so right around middle of August kind of give you a chance to prepare and as well as for your.
- [00:33:10.530]Kristy Saunders: For your financial aid to apply it will be there electronically in my red, and we also will send a student email to their university huskers email account.
- [00:33:19.920]Kristy Saunders: You can access your bill and pay it online anytime so you can go for the student access in my read, but they do have to grant their parents as an authorized payer and guest access through my read.
- [00:33:30.990]Kristy Saunders: So just make sure if parents want to be able to go in and make any sort of payments, so the student does do that through their my right account.
- [00:33:37.650]Kristy Saunders: The due date is always the 12th of each month, so.
- [00:33:41.100]Kristy Saunders: it's never going to change on you, so if it's So the first build a due date is September 12 and then it's October 12 of November 12 so just so you did the husker payment plan just know that those will always be taken out on the 12 as well.
- [00:33:54.060]Kristy Saunders: It does say you do not make a payment there are late fees that will apply, as well as there could be holds put on your account to prevent registration and.
- [00:34:04.410]Kristy Saunders: more extreme circumstances, you also conduct we lose the ability to use your end card So if you ever think you're not able to pay your bill, please give us a call, so we can help you through it, so you don't have any of those things happen.
- [00:34:19.050]Kristy Saunders: Those number of different ways, you can pay so you can obviously the easiest way honestly is making your payment through my red.
- [00:34:25.710]Kristy Saunders: or with the authorized payer, you can do an online check and that is.
- [00:34:29.850]Kristy Saunders: completely free and you can just put in your checking account information, you also do credit card, but just be aware, there is a convenience fee and is based on a percentage, so I strongly suggest using an online check or.
- [00:34:41.940]Kristy Saunders: Other types of payments before using a credit card, so you don't have that percentage fee applied and then of course foreign currency payment if necessary.
- [00:34:50.910]Kristy Saunders: Also, you can mail in a personal check, you also can bring a check by to us in person money order cashier's check and just make sure you put the students and new ID and student name and all payments.
- [00:35:01.410]Kristy Saunders: We have received checks, we didn't know who they were for it it's horrible so definitely make sure that we know it's for your students if you're writing a check.
- [00:35:11.490]Kristy Saunders: Like I said, there is a husker payment plan, if you don't want to pay the full amount do right on the 12 you actually can sign up just make sure you sign up between August 25 and Sep tember 12.
- [00:35:21.120]Kristy Saunders: If it's even Sep tember 13th it's no longer an option so just make sure that if you think you're going to need it sign up during that window.
- [00:35:29.610]Kristy Saunders: And that breaks it up into three payments, so you do a down payment when you first open it have a third, and then you can break it up into two more payments one October 12 and one or November 12.
- [00:35:39.630]Kristy Saunders: And you do to sign up for this every semester so just be aware that when it comes to spring if you also want to do the husker payment plan you're also going to need to sign up between that same time period of January 25 through February 12.
- [00:35:55.800]Kristy Saunders: So there is a checklist and actually is on the on the student accounts website so just make sure you sign up for direct deposit you have your authorized pair you are also making sure you understand and card charges.
- [00:36:07.620]Kristy Saunders: Just be aware that there are two different types of ways, you can purchase food there's something called dining dollars and then there's an card.
- [00:36:14.550]Kristy Saunders: If you if you do not use your end card for dining dollars so just remember that there's a separate APP for that So if you have darting dollars, make sure you're using those first so that we don't have to pay extra.
- [00:36:27.750]Kristy Saunders: Also, just make sure your contact information is updated so that way, if there are any issues we can give you a call and, of course, give us a call or email us come in join our virtual queue.
- [00:36:38.040]Kristy Saunders: If you have any questions, and that includes if you don't know how to read your bill if you're like what does this mean come talk to us we're happy to walk you through it.
- [00:36:50.640]Julia DeLaRosa: All right, everyone so at this point, I know we.
- [00:36:52.650]Julia DeLaRosa: have a lot of questions kind of come in the chat so christy will, I think, be madly typing and getting those answers to those and fs my whole transition over to the student money management side so.
- [00:37:04.320]Julia DeLaRosa: Money coach I believe this is megan is this your portion.
- [00:37:07.590]Megan Patel: yeah so Hello again everyone i'm making the.
- [00:37:10.440]Megan Patel: channel it's the graduates audience and will be so in our office we focus on nine dimensions of loving and the one that I get to focus on is I need to elevate, which is of course I get to speak with you all today.
- [00:37:21.510]Megan Patel: So one service that we offer through our office is called money coaching, so this is really an opportunity for your students to get one on one assistance with any money questions or money problems that they may be having.
- [00:37:33.900]Megan Patel: And so really it's an individual session it's going to be different for every single student.
- [00:37:39.420]Megan Patel: And the next slide will show some topics, but I wanted to mention that it's always free so student can schedule an appointment whenever they feel like they need a little bit of extra assistance.
- [00:37:49.500]Megan Patel: And no limit to how many times they can talk to their money coach they will schedule those through my plan, which is a system that they will get very familiar with when they're on campus and they get to pick which money coach they want to work with so there's me there's other.
- [00:38:05.100]Megan Patel: Staff and student learning coaches, that they can choose to work with, and they can read their bios and kind of decide who would work with the best.
- [00:38:12.660]Megan Patel: And then the next slide here has some of the.
- [00:38:15.960]Megan Patel: topics that we go over with students during money coaching sessions so again totally up to them what things they'd like to talk about or what things they have questions on.
- [00:38:25.950]Megan Patel: But you can imagine that spending and Budgeting is one of the top ones you're there in a new environment, maybe a new town.
- [00:38:33.330]Megan Patel: lots of different situations coming up where they may be tempted to spend too much money so that they're really common one also financial goals, maybe they're trying to save up for study abroad or car or anything.
- [00:38:46.710]Megan Patel: We can help them make a plan for that and, of course, a lot of questions about credit with the credit score what our credit cards for should I have one.
- [00:38:55.620]Megan Patel: All those different types of things so lots of different topics that we can help students with we earlier education based so we're not selling products we're not you know recommending things were just educating them on these topics and then the next slide here.
- [00:39:14.760]Megan Patel: So this just gives you an idea of what it would be like so basically your student let's schedule a vm I plan, they would pick their coach and a time that works best for the both of them.
- [00:39:25.080]Megan Patel: And they can pick to they want to meet in person, which would be in our office and how Center.
- [00:39:29.760]Megan Patel: Or, as of course we found out the past year zoom was another really good tool, so we will continue to offer that as well, so for student feels.
- [00:39:38.430]Megan Patel: more comfortable there ignite maybe they're not on campus or they just don't want to walk over to the House and I was totally fine.
- [00:39:44.670]Megan Patel: So they can choose either either session and then like I said during the session it's really going to be.
- [00:39:50.970]Megan Patel: unique to your student and the questions that they have and you're shooting can feel confident in that they don't have to.
- [00:39:57.570]Megan Patel: You know, have a bank statement all laid out or credit card statement all laid out, they can share as much or as little information with our coaches, they want.
- [00:40:05.700]Megan Patel: Obviously, for us a little bit easier, the more info that they share, but we know some students would rather talking a little bit more of a broad term so totally fine.
- [00:40:14.850]Megan Patel: And then the last service, but I wanted to mention is or husker pantry on campus, so this is also in the health Center.
- [00:40:22.950]Megan Patel: And it's for any current student has enrolled in at least one credit hour who needs just a little bit of extra support, so we have free food hygiene items and school supplies.
- [00:40:32.970]Megan Patel: and asked you didn't need to do to use the pantry is just come in with their card, we recommend they bring a reusable bag or their backpack to take on their items.
- [00:40:41.850]Megan Patel: and making just shop and take whatever they may need so more details about that on our website pantry and all that EDU.
- [00:40:49.080]Megan Patel: including her hours, but just wanted to throw that in there as well, so I will i'll check out the q&a if there's any questions, but other result pass it on to the next President.
- [00:41:01.650]Julia DeLaRosa: Great so we're up with.
- [00:41:03.600]Julia DeLaRosa: bacon trust so Nicole, you want to go ahead and take it away.
- [00:41:07.200]nicole sweigard: A terrific yes, thank you, Julian.
- [00:41:10.230]nicole sweigard: Thank you, both Christie and megan for setting it up nicely for me.
- [00:41:15.660]nicole sweigard: First of all, I just want to let everyone know that you BT or Union bank and trust.
- [00:41:20.340]nicole sweigard: Is your bank on campus, and so we have been on campus for several years we're very much a full service branch that does things a little bit different for students and.
- [00:41:32.460]nicole sweigard: When you visit campus first of all, if your friend the Lincoln community, you are going to know, have you be too, because we are all over.
- [00:41:43.230]nicole sweigard: We are all over Lincoln but we're also all over campus so that's important for you to know we are one of 16 branches and the Lincoln community, and we have.
- [00:41:53.430]nicole sweigard: ATMs all over the city campus East campus and Lincoln itself when you are visiting the Union you'll find us on the North side conveniently located and open from.
- [00:42:08.250]nicole sweigard: 830 until five Monday through Friday now as far as some of the things that we do a little bit differently, we too are very.
- [00:42:17.610]nicole sweigard: we're very focused on financial wellness education we work closely with megan's group and other ourselves on campus providing a lot of education, but also some financial support for some of those organizations that your students may be involved in so that's.
- [00:42:35.460]nicole sweigard: A nice thing to know ahead of time before landing on campus okay Julia we can go on to the next one.
- [00:42:45.330]nicole sweigard: Okay perfect I will I did cover some of that, but another thing that you should know when visiting campus and visiting our branch on campus.
- [00:42:54.180]nicole sweigard: You will meet my team that are not only former students at the University, but also many that are multilingual so that's really great.
- [00:43:05.220]nicole sweigard: For those international students that are here on campus but it's also just really good for your student to also.
- [00:43:13.650]nicole sweigard: As they are going to experience new things that are under that financial umbrella one of those things that I know that.
- [00:43:23.370]nicole sweigard: Is oftentimes unfamiliar we get a lot of questions about my read in the fall and before they pay that first bill, so we have lots of people visiting the branch for those type of things as well.
- [00:43:35.490]nicole sweigard: christy mentioned direct deposit We hope that lots of students get to those on campus or off campus jobs.
- [00:43:43.200]nicole sweigard: During their semesters that they are on campus and we do of course provide that direct deposit form or if they are needing to deposit checks mobley I can cover that in upcoming slides as well.
- [00:43:59.130]nicole sweigard: Another one of the things that I mentioned here on the slide is that we do engage in activities, and that is the goal of those is really to help.
- [00:44:07.950]nicole sweigard: increase the comfort level of students with a bank, we might do a race to the place or something like that that gets them to the bank for a lot of different reasons and opens that door in many different ways okay on to the next one.
- [00:44:28.170]nicole sweigard: Okay, very good, so a lot of you i'm sure did not think about why students should bank on campus but it's definitely something that.
- [00:44:38.010]nicole sweigard: You want to think about before a student lands on campus and one of the main reasons is because of the ATM fees that they could potentially incur so most of the teams that you'll find on campus are up at ATM.
- [00:44:52.680]nicole sweigard: And that's really convenient, especially if you have an account but it's also good to know that a student can incur some fees.
- [00:45:00.420]nicole sweigard: If they are not using their ubc debit card at those ATMs that are on both campuses.
- [00:45:07.470]nicole sweigard: The other thing that's really cool is that we do the debit card printing of the branch, and this comes in handy for a lot of reasons I always joke that.
- [00:45:16.230]nicole sweigard: On Monday mornings, we print a lot of at we print a lot of new debit cards which is true and totally fine.
- [00:45:24.420]nicole sweigard: But the other thing that comes into play, is that, unfortunately, we have found that students are oftentimes the target of fraud.
- [00:45:32.550]nicole sweigard: And if your student ever would experience fraud on their account it's really nice and very convenient where they can just walk into the branch.
- [00:45:41.850]nicole sweigard: And then they can also touch a banker who can dispute that right, then, and there for them cancel that old card card and printed new card, so all of this can happen in 510 minutes, and we can quickly help them.
- [00:45:57.090]nicole sweigard: avoid any any issues on their account that way so that's another reason why it's beneficial to bank on campus.
- [00:46:06.930]nicole sweigard: The other thing is is it's free it's free for students, we also give them $50 for opening an account to, and right now we're also giving free T shirts, so a lot of students think that that's cool too.
- [00:46:19.200]nicole sweigard: If a student is the last bullet point on, there is the debit card controls, and this has happened to me as well, so if a student ever loses their debit card.
- [00:46:28.530]nicole sweigard: They can just go ahead and they can stop that i've had it happen, where you know you never know if it's gosh it's in my.
- [00:46:36.090]nicole sweigard: Car if it's at my co pocket and then just on the handy dandy APP you can stop that find your card and then restart that again when you find it, and if you don't find it come on the end and we can reprint a new one.
- [00:46:50.550]nicole sweigard: Okay Julia.
- [00:46:53.700]nicole sweigard: Okay, this is a really popular question, of course, how to get students cash through out there year.
- [00:47:03.450]nicole sweigard: And so it's that transferring of money and once you know our routing number and as students account number it's very easy to do you can do, depending upon where you bank, of course, but you can do a free express transfer.
- [00:47:18.390]nicole sweigard: We use cell and so oftentimes.
- [00:47:22.680]nicole sweigard: Lots of big banks use cell so that's a very easy for you to transfer money to your students it's also a nice free service where students can transfer.
- [00:47:33.780]nicole sweigard: to and from each other as well, I mentioned mobile deposit that's handy if you have a check you want to send them or maybe grandma and grandpa so to check for their birthday it's easy to take a picture and deposit that way.
- [00:47:48.150]nicole sweigard: The one on here that I would not encourage you to use is of course wires and sometimes.
- [00:47:55.290]nicole sweigard: families that are living far away, think that they're going to wire money to their student and that's fine, but it does encourage fees, so there are lots of other free and easy ways.
- [00:48:06.120]nicole sweigard: To send money to students, that would not encourage fee So if you ever have questions about that you can always ask us at the bank on campus.
- [00:48:18.060]nicole sweigard: Okay, all right, I mentioned some of these of course, along with that checking account, we also have a savings account.
- [00:48:28.020]nicole sweigard: And right now for the first time ever we're offering a really cool offer for students, where we're offering.
- [00:48:34.620]nicole sweigard: 3% on their savings account for the first two year up to $1,000 we're just really are encouraging and trying to get students to have that little safety net.
- [00:48:47.250]nicole sweigard: As they start school oftentimes they have graduation checks or maybe that is summer job so we're just really encouraging that emergency fund to get.
- [00:48:57.300]nicole sweigard: Get that started and money tucked away for upcoming semesters so we do offer, of course, that savings account I mentioned our at our arp it has a lot of great.
- [00:49:08.670]nicole sweigard: Different offerings some of the things that I really like about about that would include the email alerts and you also will need to consider ponder.
- [00:49:19.650]nicole sweigard: If you want to be on your students account or not, and if so you can set up the alerts and whatever threshold you'd like.
- [00:49:26.370]nicole sweigard: Maybe you'd like to know if they've dropped down below $20 or $100 whatever you select and then you could receive one of those E alerts as well.
- [00:49:35.340]nicole sweigard: So that's a good way to avoid those overdraft fees that can potentially happen, we do of course have bill pay I also really like money compass, which is.
- [00:49:48.450]nicole sweigard: A budgeting tools, so if parents are saying hey you're spending too much money eating out, they can quickly look at that.
- [00:49:56.820]nicole sweigard: APP and so sure enough i'm spending too much money eating out so that's a quick at a glance for students, as well as they are learning to become better financial managers in those early years.
- [00:50:11.400]nicole sweigard: hi Julia.
- [00:50:14.820]nicole sweigard: Okay, well, I will go ahead and.
- [00:50:16.470]nicole sweigard: pass it on to Joe than that, thank you for the opportunity to.
- [00:50:20.220]nicole sweigard: to visit with everyone, and I too will check the chat for any questions that people may have.
- [00:50:25.800]nicole sweigard: Thanks so much.
- [00:50:27.060]Julia DeLaRosa: Ashley Nicole before you, for I think we did get one kind of maybe quick question that came up regarding setting up an account question is can my daughter set up an account online.
- [00:50:38.100]nicole sweigard: that's a great question, and thank you for bringing that up it's very easy to do that.
- [00:50:43.020]nicole sweigard: When you visit campus we do have a qr code that you can scan, but if you are sitting at home in front of your computer right now, if you go to ub t.com forward slash you, and now it will bring us bring you to a page that.
- [00:50:58.080]nicole sweigard: You can enter their information as long as you know, their drivers license information and their social security car or their social security number should only take about five minutes.
- [00:51:08.820]nicole sweigard: And if you do it from home, right now, we will send that card out so you'll have that in time to get that your started off without any weight or any well it's just one more thing to check out on your checklist as you enter campus so thanks for that question.
- [00:51:31.590]Julia DeLaRosa: we'll go ahead and turn it over to you to talk about the military and veterans.
- [00:51:36.900]Joe Brownell UNL: Thanks Julian and before you advance the slide just want to we work really closely with husker hub and christy and her.
- [00:51:42.870]Joe Brownell UNL: team, and so a lot of people think if you're using the benefits or some type of military that you cannot use.
- [00:51:50.190]Joe Brownell UNL: Other programs and that's that's not the case, there are different things that can be as Chris uses the word stacks are used in conjunction.
- [00:51:58.140]Joe Brownell UNL: With your va benefits so highly encourage everyone if you can to complete that passive passive and get that turned in Julie go ahead and next slide.
- [00:52:07.470]Joe Brownell UNL: So really for the military veteran success Center.
- [00:52:11.040]Joe Brownell UNL: we're focused on your V if anybody's using va benefits and so whatever chapter if you've worked through with the va.
- [00:52:19.950]Joe Brownell UNL: There should be a certificate of eligibility that you're going to get from the va and then, once you register for classes.
- [00:52:25.680]Joe Brownell UNL: Then, at that time come see us and we can process your paperwork Taylor with more how that works, but for the most part.
- [00:52:33.630]Joe Brownell UNL: How the how the payment works is for tuition fees, the va directly pays to the university and then, if you're getting a monthly stipend or a book stipend something like that that will go directly to the individual and and we highly encourage direct deposit for that.
- [00:52:50.100]Joe Brownell UNL: there's also for tuition assistance or their military National Guard might be using tuition assistance.
- [00:52:57.660]Joe Brownell UNL: That is run through student accounts and that's Andrea shorts so again once you've gone start that process with.
- [00:53:05.520]Joe Brownell UNL: Whether it's federal state reserve ta and then you register for classes and you can contact Andrea that time and that up they'll apply that benefits to your.
- [00:53:15.480]Joe Brownell UNL: tuition in my red, we also have a few on our website we've kind of got out and look for scholarships nationally and locally that are for military connected students so veterans.
- [00:53:30.300]Joe Brownell UNL: Activity guard reserve and dependence, so you can check that out on our website and that's listed there.
- [00:53:36.960]Joe Brownell UNL: And also, if you need to come in and see us we're located in the basement of the student Union our business hours are from eight to five and then there's a walk ins are always welcome, but if you want to do want to make an appointment, it is the phone numbers listed there.
- [00:53:51.780]Joe Brownell UNL: A couple last things I just want to point out, if you do have questions about maybe you're thinking about joining the rotc on campus to help pay for school.
- [00:54:00.840]Joe Brownell UNL: There is a army navy and air force that's one of the few campus that has all three services, and then the last thing just the.
- [00:54:09.360]Joe Brownell UNL: Four in state tuition the residency for veterans and dependence of veterans the residency has changed it's actually easier to get residency now.
- [00:54:20.790]Joe Brownell UNL: And is christy pointed out there's some different there's definitely different costs between resident and non resident, so if you're interested in that information that is located on the admissions website, but you can also reach out to us either.
- [00:54:37.920]Joe Brownell UNL: Through that phone number there and we'll get you more information about the residency and what you have to do to apply for that.
- [00:54:45.330]Joe Brownell UNL: What you it ends it for me, unless there are any questions I haven't seen anything right now.
- [00:54:51.630]Julia DeLaRosa: But we did have one question come in, if Mike I was in the military and he did not use the money offered for college, am I able to use that.
- [00:55:01.230]Joe Brownell UNL: So that if if your father transferred the funding.
- [00:55:07.740]Joe Brownell UNL: To you, prior to leaving the military, then yes, you would be able to use that I would say, would be very uh.
- [00:55:15.510]Joe Brownell UNL: I would still have your father contact the va directly and ask that question directly to the va the va will determine whether that benefit is still available or not Madison.
- [00:55:26.880]Joe Brownell UNL: um one other thing just to for you to be aware of just because you're not using va benefits there's numerous other services that the military and veteran success Center has for.
- [00:55:38.160]Joe Brownell UNL: Free Tutoring free printing some other things, so please stop by the military veterans success Center and I can go over a few more of those free opportunities that are available to you as a.
- [00:55:51.090]Joe Brownell UNL: Military connected students.
- [00:55:56.970]Julia DeLaRosa: Okay, thanks for that we'll go ahead and move on this point to kind of that portion of the evening what we're both here some frequently asked questions and.
- [00:56:05.730]Julia DeLaRosa: Some have already been covered, but.
- [00:56:08.130]Julia DeLaRosa: As we're doing this again feel free to put your questions into the Q amp a feature and session hosts all kind of just asked the question and then whoever is able to insert feel free to type in.
- [00:56:20.010]Julia DeLaRosa: Oh we'll start off with external scholarships and there might have been one in the chat already maybe there are others who are wondering about that so.
- [00:56:27.990]Julia DeLaRosa: Christine do you have any insight on that external scholarship in addition to maybe what's on the slide here.
- [00:56:34.230]Kristy Saunders: Yes, y'all just can't get rid of me i'm sorry i'll be i'm gonna be here, the whole time.
- [00:56:37.650]Kristy Saunders: So yes, so where can I send an external scholarship so we actually do have a handy dandy guide on our website so if you go to husker hub that URL that EDU under the scholarships tab we do have this.
- [00:56:51.570]Kristy Saunders: laid out for you, so if you don't remember don't worry.
- [00:56:54.630]Kristy Saunders: But basically first you're going to want to make sure you report your external scholarship on your my red.
- [00:56:59.550]Kristy Saunders: And you're going to fill out the extra scholarship a declaration form.
- [00:57:03.360]Kristy Saunders: And then from there you just send a check to the offices gosh is a financial aid to this lovely P O box here and we'll get that out there.
- [00:57:10.140]Kristy Saunders: The importance of reporting the external scholarship is that we actually will put it on your award page as an estimate until we get the check so that will allow for you to once again see it out there know what's coming we know it's coming, and you can start budgeting.
- [00:57:24.510]Kristy Saunders: and moving forward that way.
- [00:57:30.210]Kristy Saunders: And this one's also me.
- [00:57:33.540]Julia DeLaRosa: Requesting documents.
- [00:57:35.610]Kristy Saunders: So, for those of you who maybe are still working on your financial a to do list.
- [00:57:40.920]Kristy Saunders: So if you go into the student side of your my read under the financial aid tab, you will see a to do list there that will show you some outstanding documents might need to turn in.
- [00:57:52.800]Kristy Saunders: So we do have a lovely upload system on your my ride, which you actually can just submit these things.
- [00:57:59.130]Kristy Saunders: digitally so you don't have to worry about faxing them or emailing them or mailing them, God forbid, so that goes for even things like your taxes for requesting those.
- [00:58:10.020]Kristy Saunders: or any of the documents you to fill out through us.
- [00:58:13.110]Kristy Saunders: I will say that that this is great, we finally have the ability for parents to also use a document upload system starting this year so.
- [00:58:21.480]Kristy Saunders: Through the guest access parents can now actually go in there and upload the documents, rather than just relying on students having to do all the legwork in that way, so we do have a.
- [00:58:32.610]Kristy Saunders: a breakdown of how to.
- [00:58:33.960]Kristy Saunders: Use the document upload and helping you troubleshoot if you have any issues once again on our website and it's also in that financial aid tab.
- [00:58:41.760]Kristy Saunders: And it's just there as uploading documents it lays out the student side as well as the guest user side, so if you run into any issues you can use that as well.
- [00:58:50.700]Kristy Saunders: I will just say that the biggest thing is that do not email documents, we will absolutely take them and we'll get them to the right place, but especially things that have your.
- [00:59:02.310]Kristy Saunders: personal information on especially things with your social security number on it, please do not email them, it takes all it takes is one typo for it to be sent into the ether so.
- [00:59:11.460]Kristy Saunders: We just want to make sure that it gets to us in a very secure way and that we can make sure that your information stays safe.
- [00:59:29.880]Julia DeLaRosa: I unmuted myself, but I did not perfect, so effectively, we can kind of open it up for common questions I know we.
- [00:59:38.190]Julia DeLaRosa: did see a couple of the chat regarding income changes, Christine, would you be able to provide some kind of insight, just in case there are more folks in the group wondering about that situation.
- [00:59:48.510]Kristy Saunders: Sure, so if just say you've had any drastic income changes which i'm sure, many people have this past year.
- [00:59:54.840]Kristy Saunders: We do have something called a special circumstance appeal, and this will allow for you to.
- [00:59:59.970]Kristy Saunders: Basically, for us to look at your account to see if maybe we should look at a different income year so.
- [01:00:05.160]Kristy Saunders: As you know, the fafsa looks at 2019 so just say you had lower income and 2020 we can technically look at 2020 instead if it makes you more eligible for aid.
- [01:00:14.700]Kristy Saunders: There are some other reasons that a special circumstance appeal could be viable for you so just say you had like you know, a one time payment that came through.
- [01:00:23.970]Kristy Saunders: Like you won the lottery and you're like yeah that was not my normal income, we can look at removing that as well, so if you if you're not sure if it would apply like I know someone just asked their income change happened in 2021.
- [01:00:36.060]Kristy Saunders: I just suggest coming in and chatting with us, because this is kind of one of those Gray areas within financial aid where it's best on an individual level.
- [01:00:44.010]Kristy Saunders: So I was just making an appointment with us and we will go through and run a simulation so we can go through and see if we put in the changes that have affected your family will it make you more eligible for aid.
- [01:00:55.830]Kristy Saunders: Because if it won't make you more eligible for aid we won't make you go through that process, because it involves paperwork and all sorts of stuff will save you that.
- [01:01:03.270]Kristy Saunders: And we'll start looking at other avenues where maybe it's just external scholarships other loan options or other types of aid within the institution.
- [01:01:11.100]Kristy Saunders: And if it is worth your time, then we can get the ball rolling on that to get you started So if you are thinking that might apply to you just give us a call or shoot us an email, and we can set you up an appointment with a specialist to walk you through that whole process.
- [01:01:27.360]Julia DeLaRosa: We got another question in just now about the student bill, and that is do I have to pay my tuition in full by September 12 I don't set up a payment plan.
- [01:01:39.060]Kristy Saunders: So, technically, technically, no, but you will get late fees and you will be marked as delinquent so that's where those bad things happen so that's where you get the holds on your account you get late fees, you might have your end card shut off so.
- [01:01:55.500]Kristy Saunders: If you think that is that September 12 is just not going to be possible for you and it just say that three payment plan is just not looking feasible.
- [01:02:03.390]Kristy Saunders: chat with us first That way we can talk through some other options, so I would say that, is there a hard deadline, where, if you don't pay we're kicking you out no but let's make sure that we have the best possible scenario for you, if you can't make that payment by September 12.
- [01:02:23.910]Julia DeLaRosa: Right, especially leave it can answer is rare, how many how many credits must have student maintain to be full time and that's 12 credit hours for undergraduate students.
- [01:02:39.900]Julia DeLaRosa: Lastly, we had a question about financing, specifically in casner christy i'm not sure if you know anything about this, or this is better kind of deflected to themselves.
- [01:02:51.480]Kristy Saunders: I would definitely say so, when it comes to departmental funding.
- [01:02:55.530]Kristy Saunders: I would definitely start with the department, because, basically, they are the ones who control who gets funding.
- [01:03:01.500]Kristy Saunders: What the eligibility requirements are and how to apply for it, and then they just send us we get the fun job we get to say yeah you got it, but they do all the legwork so.
- [01:03:10.410]Kristy Saunders: I would definitely start by reaching out to casner and I would say that you can probably just contact the main department line.
- [01:03:18.390]Kristy Saunders: I know within casner someone you probably will get well acquainted with someone named megan shaffer she's delightful she works with students a lot, so if you're not sure exactly who to chat with i'm sure she can get you to the right place and answer any questions you may have.
- [01:03:34.230]Kristy Saunders: Thanks.
- [01:03:35.430]Julia DeLaRosa: Well, I think we're slowing down a little bit on our questions so participants if you've got some final questions go ahead and.
- [01:03:42.870]Julia DeLaRosa: Type those in now otherwise i'll have kind of move forward and just remind you of some of these email addresses and other departments that we've talked about.
- [01:03:51.840]Julia DeLaRosa: This evening so for husker how and then keep that one stop shop any questions that you have about the business of being a husker that's right up here, as well as their phone number also that student accounts again for.
- [01:04:03.360]Julia DeLaRosa: For consolidated bills, it also goes to your husker have to ask those questions and burn money coaching you'll contact student money management like you and all that.
- [01:04:12.780]Julia DeLaRosa: Information there and in this link that will again be sending out with the slide deck there is willing to kind of go straight to that et contact information page and again there if you're close to Lincoln and they're also located on campus and the student will be this fall as well.
- [01:04:32.850]Julia DeLaRosa: Okay, we did have one question come in the chat is what opportunities are there for second year students to receive more a.
- [01:04:42.210]Kristy Saunders: I was just answering.
- [01:04:43.620]Kristy Saunders: Back to bonnie so the the biggest thing for institutional would be to go for the.
- [01:04:52.170]Kristy Saunders: scholarship application that opens up in middle of November so we'll send you we will bug you with a bunch of emails about the students but also in your my red and it'll be this lovely banner at the top.
- [01:05:01.800]Kristy Saunders: And so you just fill that out, and it will put you in the running for a number of scholarships, through your departments, but also the other thing to do.
- [01:05:09.600]Kristy Saunders: Is that there's a lot of aid out there that's not just institutional so external scholarships are.
- [01:05:15.480]Kristy Saunders: really great and also oftentimes a lot of external scholarships focus on students, that are not incoming they're actually students that are moving up in their career so.
- [01:05:25.050]Kristy Saunders: We do have an external scholarship page on the financial aid website that we update really frequently so you can go on there and there's due dates that span the whole year, and so I just tell students when you're waiting to go home.
- [01:05:37.380]Kristy Saunders: For Christmas and you're sitting in an airport just scroll through there and see if there's anything that applies to you because they could range from $250 and some of them can be amazing like five grand or more so.
- [01:05:49.020]Kristy Saunders: If you're interested in that I will put the link in the chat for all of you it'll take a look at and.
- [01:05:55.350]Kristy Saunders: I did not do this as a student I regret it, keep applying for external scholarships all throughout your time because there's even some scholarships that are just for seniors I mean they there are amazing ones out there.
