- [00:00:08.380]If you're bringing a car or commuting to campus,
- [00:00:10.750]you'll need to purchase a parking pass.
- [00:00:12.900]In this video, I'll be walking you through the steps
- [00:00:15.040]on how to make that happen.
- [00:00:18.060]You can purchase your permit as early as one day
- [00:00:21.010]after enrolling in classes,
- [00:00:22.620]and any time after that.
- [00:00:24.570]You'll start by going to the UNL Parking and Transit website
- [00:00:28.040]at parking.unl.edu.
- [00:00:31.480]Before you begin the process,
- [00:00:33.040]you'll want to have your vehicle make, model, year,
- [00:00:36.653]color, and license plate number handy,
- [00:00:39.530]as well as your NCard.
- [00:00:41.810]In the middle of the page, click on new customers
- [00:00:44.670]if it's your first time purchasing.
- [00:00:47.000]From here, select the Student Parking Permit Purchase Guide
- [00:00:51.170]where you can explore different types of permits, costs,
- [00:00:54.890]and other policies.
- [00:00:57.090]Then, click on access university online parking services,
- [00:01:01.210]where you'll log in using your my.UNL credentials.
- [00:01:04.910]Select your permit type, enter vehicle information,
- [00:01:07.980]and choose a payment method.
- [00:01:09.950]After you click Pay Now,
- [00:01:11.690]the confirmation email will be sent
- [00:01:13.420]to your registered email address.
- [00:01:15.940]You have the option to pick up your parking pass in-person,
- [00:01:19.250]or have it sent to your house via mail.
- [00:01:22.180]The recommendation here depends on the timing
- [00:01:24.300]of when you placed the order.
- [00:01:26.030]If you need your pass right away,
- [00:01:27.890]you'll want to pick it up in-person
- [00:01:29.450]at the Parking and Transit Services Office.
- [00:01:32.280]If you have more time,
- [00:01:33.530]you can save yourself a trip to campus
- [00:01:35.240]by having the past sent to your home via mail.
- [00:01:40.130]If you'd rather not purchase the parking pass online,
- [00:01:42.970]you can always stop by Parking and Transit Services
- [00:01:45.650]Monday through Friday from 7:30 am,
- [00:01:48.130]to 5:00 pm to process the necessary documentation
- [00:01:51.970]and receive your pass all at once.
- [00:01:54.590]Once you receive your pass,
- [00:01:56.090]stick it on the inside of the driver side windshield.
- [00:01:59.640]Notice the letter on your permit.
- [00:02:01.650]This tells you whether you have a resident permit
- [00:02:04.080]or a commuter parking permit,
- [00:02:05.900]and whether it's for a designated surface area lot
- [00:02:09.070]or a parking garage.
- [00:02:10.600]Keep in mind that you
- [00:02:11.490]won't be given a specific parking spot.
- [00:02:14.300]Rather, it's first come, first serve access
- [00:02:16.643]to whatever spots are available in the lot or garage
- [00:02:20.050]where your permit allows you to park.
- [00:02:22.710]Be sure to pay close attention to the signs
- [00:02:24.590]at the entrance of each lot or garage.
- [00:02:27.240]Make sure you carefully review the policies
- [00:02:29.750]and maps on the parking website that show you
- [00:02:32.060]where and when you can park according to your pass.
- [00:02:35.090]With questions, reach out directly
- [00:02:37.060]to Parking and Transit Services.
