- [00:02:12.986]I came to UNL from a primarily Christian town,
- [00:02:16.280]but did not want to be seen as the token Christian girl.
- [00:02:18.828]I found myself in a diverse religious environment
- [00:02:21.559]and had to attempt to find a church community
- [00:02:24.140]here in Lincoln to support my faith journey.
- [00:02:27.601]Within my first few months on campus,
- [00:02:29.828]I ran into a few roadblocks
- [00:02:31.027]that made UNL not feel like home.
- [00:02:33.350]I wasn't getting along with my roommate,
- [00:02:35.050]my friend group fell apart,
- [00:02:36.396]and I missed the comforts of home.
- [00:02:38.621]This combination of challenges
- [00:02:39.818]led me to consider transferring
- [00:02:41.530]because I felt that things were just not working out.
- [00:02:44.840]A few months into my time at UNL,
- [00:02:46.911]I began to struggle with the workload
- [00:02:48.482]and social expectations of college life.
- [00:02:50.805]I felt a huge amount of pressure
- [00:02:52.580]surrounding my fear of failure.
- [00:02:54.360]I began to deny myself basic necessities,
- [00:02:56.630]such as food, sleep and even showering.
- [00:02:59.251]What I first saw as coping mechanisms
- [00:03:01.228]soon began to take over my life.
