- [00:00:33.920]The Future Healers honors experiential track
- [00:00:36.670]is a way for you to enhance your skills
- [00:00:39.860]through experiential learning
- [00:00:41.890]ranging from on the ground volunteering work
- [00:00:44.590]with health-based community partners
- [00:00:47.050]to mentoring younger pre-health students at UNL.
- [00:00:50.660]All while also receiving additional support
- [00:00:53.460]with the professional school application process
- [00:00:56.030]and your honors senior project.
- [00:00:58.080]Being an active member of this small cohort-based track
- [00:01:01.280]will offer you plenty of opportunities

- [00:01:25.770]My name is Shinya Takahashi.
- [00:01:27.810]I'm from Nutrition and Health Sciences
- [00:01:31.480]and I'm really excited about this program
- [00:01:34.170]pre-health track for honors program.
- [00:01:38.020]And I have worked with the students from my department.
- [00:01:42.540]There are a lot of students interested in PT,
- [00:01:45.000]OT, PA, dental.
- [00:01:47.480]Some students that are interested
- [00:01:48.820]in medical school as well.
- [00:01:50.750]So I have some experience with students
- [00:01:54.160]who are interested in pre-health.
- [00:01:56.740]And I'm really excited to work
- [00:01:59.330]with you to get some different experiences
- [00:02:04.560]and discussions in these courses.
- [00:02:08.060]Hello, I'm Dr. Erin Sayer and I'm a faculty member
- [00:02:11.530]in the Department of Biochemistry.
- [00:02:13.520]I'm excited to work with you
- [00:02:15.120]as Future Halers in the honors program experiential track
- [00:02:19.210]focusing on health professions.
- [00:02:21.460]I've been at the university for almost 20 years.
- [00:02:24.160]And during that time, I have worked
- [00:02:25.820]with health profession students across many different majors
- [00:02:29.660]and disciplines as the center advisor
- [00:02:32.220]as well as the department major advisor.
- [00:02:34.570]I know that it's really difficult right now
- [00:02:37.310]to get field experience shadowing hours at this time.
- [00:02:43.560]But we'd like explore some creative ways to differentiate
- [00:02:49.930]from other candidates who are going to apply
- [00:02:52.760]for health professional schools.
- [00:02:55.800]So we need to really think together to accomplish this goal.
