- [00:00:13.420]that I'm most excited about
- [00:00:15.640]is the establishment of two new groups,
- [00:00:19.160]our Diversity, Equity,
- [00:00:20.520]and Inclusion Advisory Council
- [00:00:22.870]that supports the senior leadership team
- [00:00:26.100]and helps us think about
- [00:00:27.720]how to be a more equitable campus and institution,
- [00:00:31.560]and the Staff Advisory Council.
- [00:00:34.440]For the first time in IANR history,
- [00:00:37.330]we're empowering our staff
- [00:00:38.830]to work with the senior leadership,
- [00:00:40.500]to think about issues, concerns, opportunities
- [00:00:44.810]to support our most amazing staff.
- [00:00:47.730]IANR graduate students led the development
- [00:00:49.852]of a digital badge on diversity and inclusion.
- [00:00:53.520]And we are in the final approval stage
- [00:00:55.680]for the establishment of a manners chapter on campus.
- [00:00:59.970]We also created a series
- [00:01:01.013]of communities of practice
- [00:01:03.000]and doctors Gina Matkin and Helen Fagan
- [00:01:06.300]led the community on difficult conversations
- [00:01:09.240]and hosted a breakout session
- [00:01:10.760]in our CASNR teaching
- [00:01:12.020]and learning workshop in December.
- [00:01:14.450]Through the racial literacy round tables,
- [00:01:17.030]we are seeking to find
- [00:01:18.261]and claim our abilities as anti-racists
- [00:01:21.630]from a variety of backgrounds and identities.

- [00:01:27.090]we have global challenges that need solutions.
- [00:01:30.060]And when we bring in diverse perspectives,
- [00:01:33.070]especially from voices
- [00:01:34.110]that have been traditionally unheard,
- [00:01:36.400]we provide novel, innovative,
- [00:01:39.746]and integral solutions to those challenges.

- [00:01:43.750]Fostering and practicing diversity
- [00:01:46.230]in a distributed fashion across Nebraska
- [00:01:48.850]should be a hallmark of IANR
- [00:01:51.200]led by Nebraska Extension.
- [00:01:53.290]Youth, parents, leaders,
- [00:01:55.024]and volunteers represent the IANR Extension
- [00:01:58.600]and 4-H brands,
- [00:02:00.040]every day in communities throughout the state.
- [00:02:03.080]We are in a unique position to lead
- [00:02:04.900]and support inclusive excellence locally.
- [00:02:07.420]Our commitment is to engage
- [00:02:08.990]our community partners as ambassadors to facilitate
- [00:02:11.538]and nurture meaningful diversity, equity,
- [00:02:14.770]and inclusion initiatives.
- [00:02:16.390]This is a great opportunity for Extension.
- [00:02:19.140]We're committed in our division
- [00:02:20.731]to addressing diversity, equity,
- [00:02:23.017]and inclusion in our programming wherever possible.

- [00:02:28.760]the Vice Chancellor's office
- [00:02:30.290]to make this topic a significant part
- [00:02:33.180]of our onboard programming
- [00:02:34.920]and support for new faculty.
- [00:02:37.472]Our annual division all faculty meeting later this year
- [00:02:41.440]will include a programmatic theme
- [00:02:43.810]of diversity, equity, and inclusion,
- [00:02:46.730]and draw perspectives
- [00:02:47.745]from faculty graduate students and postdocs
- [00:02:51.221]as well as our company partners.
- [00:02:54.170]And we've asked our ARD Faculty Advisory Council
- [00:02:59.480]to help champion diversity, equity,
- [00:03:01.988]and inclusion for the division.
