- [00:00:04.421]Jake, what are you doing?
- [00:00:05.900]We're supposed to be recording a video.
- [00:00:07.340]Where'd you get that?
- [00:00:08.430]At the East Campus Dairy Store.
- [00:00:09.551]Fine, we'll just roll with it.
- [00:00:12.020]So, all right.
- [00:00:12.880]Hey everyone, I'm Courtney Nelson.
- [00:00:14.890]I'm a student and ambassador for
- [00:00:16.510]the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources.
- [00:00:19.810]Hey everybody, I'm Jake Judge,
- [00:00:21.170]also a senior here in CASNR,
- [00:00:23.888]and an ambassador for the college as well.
- [00:00:26.251]Something unique about CASNR
- [00:00:28.430]is we are all appointed our own individual academic advisor,
- [00:00:32.336]and so we will be meeting with them.
- [00:00:35.290]That will be the first thing that you do
- [00:00:36.740]at your new student enrollment appointment.
- [00:00:38.450]And Jake will really quickly touch on
- [00:00:39.896]what you will do in that initial appointment.
- [00:00:42.199]So at that initial appointment,
- [00:00:43.992]you're going to meet with your advisor,
- [00:00:45.929]or somebody in your academic department
- [00:00:47.910]to go over what the next four years of college
- [00:00:50.330]or what the next years of your college experience
- [00:00:52.280]are going to look like.
- [00:00:54.230]You'll use My Degree Planner,
- [00:00:55.650]as well as Enrollment Scheduler,
- [00:00:57.300]to identify what classes you will be taking in what years.
- [00:01:00.390]Don't worry, your advisor or the person in your department
- [00:01:04.384]will be proficient in how to use those,
- [00:01:06.860]and also teach you how to use them.
- [00:01:08.533]You'll be able to use those every year thereafter.
- [00:01:13.624]Before coming to your academic appointment,
- [00:01:15.780]please have the following things prepared
- [00:01:17.910]just to make the time go a little bit more efficiently:
- [00:01:20.360]First, bring in any documents of college credit
- [00:01:23.740]that you might already have, such as like AP exams,
- [00:01:26.248]IB, CLEP, transfer credits, anything of the sort.
- [00:01:30.020]Bring those and make sure your advisor knows upfront
- [00:01:31.803]what you do have coming in.
- [00:01:33.910]And then secondly, please know if you have any clubs
- [00:01:37.530]or organizations that have a committed time requirement
- [00:01:42.190]during the day, please have those time schedules blocked out
- [00:01:45.090]so your advisor knows what times to avoid.
- [00:01:47.530]This can include ROTC, being the university band,
- [00:01:51.728]being on one of the sports teams here,
- [00:01:53.964]or any other different organization on campus.
- [00:01:57.320]So those are the two big things,
- [00:01:58.690]and then just bring any other questions you have
- [00:02:00.870]about how to get started or figuring out classes
- [00:02:03.360]or anything about campus life.
- [00:02:04.520]A couple of other things to remember is that
- [00:02:07.640]if you have any transfer credits coming in
- [00:02:09.250]from different colleges, that you have to send those
- [00:02:11.142]to our admissions office.
- [00:02:12.413]Their email is admissions@unl.edu,
- [00:02:15.833]so get those sent there.
- [00:02:17.232]Another reminder is for you to set on your phone,
- [00:02:20.680]on your calendar, make sure you know the date and time
- [00:02:23.320]of when you're supposed to meet with your academic advisor.
- [00:02:25.619]Our advisors work very hard to be prepared for you
- [00:02:29.100]and want that meeting to be as intentional as possible,
- [00:02:31.272]so we ask that you come prepared for that.
- [00:02:33.980]So on behalf of the College of Agricultural Sciences
- [00:02:36.350]and Natural Resources, we are excited for you
- [00:02:39.010]to be a new student at our university and at our college,
- [00:02:41.939]and look forward to seeing you on campus.
- [00:02:44.830]Welcome to CASNR.
