- [00:00:00.000]T.J. McDowell (he/him/his): ... and Leadership area. And I want to welcome you to our weekly webinar update where we provide you the latest information about local directed health measures,
- [00:00:09.450]T.J. McDowell (he/him/his): UNL event expectations and guidance and other information to help you plan and host successful and safe events. So, I'm going to
- [00:00:18.240]T.J. McDowell (he/him/his): run through up in the way it works. I'll run through the PowerPoint, then at the end if you have any questions you can ask questions and we'll do our best to get them answered. If we can't answer them, we will get to you shortly with those.
- [00:00:34.020]T.J. McDowell (he/him/his): Okay, can everybody see the screen?
- [00:00:39.510]T.J. McDowell (he/him/his): Okay, so.
- [00:00:42.120]T.J. McDowell (he/him/his): Going to jump right in as many of you know, the risk dial for Lincoln-Lancaster County moved from orange to yellow on February 9.
- [00:00:51.690]T.J. McDowell (he/him/his): So that happened a couple of weeks ago. Again really positive news that the positivity rate for the week ended February 13
- [00:01:01.110]T.J. McDowell (he/him/his): was 0.35%
- [00:01:04.410]T.J. McDowell (he/him/his): Again, 0.35% which it continues to trend down, which is really good news. And good, I want to encourage everyone that we got to keep wearing our face coverings, social distancing, following our protocols, but we're really encouraged by that news. And we need your help
- [00:01:22.980]T.J. McDowell (he/him/his): by encouraging your peers to continue to comply with required testing. We just finished our third round we're finishing our third round of reentry testing. Those third round of tests need to be completed today, ideally, we want everyone to get tested that third round of testing today.
- [00:01:38.790]T.J. McDowell (he/him/his): And then tomorrow, as you may have heard, random mitigation testing starts tomorrow. So, if you get invited to participate in the random mitigation testing
- [00:01:47.670]T.J. McDowell (he/him/his): please do. Please encourage your peers to do so. It's really important for us to continue to have the good outcome we're having with the positivity rate, so encourage you to do that.
- [00:01:59.370]T.J. McDowell (he/him/his): The current directed health measures as issued by the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department on February, that went into effect on February 12, for any events where you're planning on more than 500 attendees that requires Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department approval.
- [00:02:16.890]T.J. McDowell (he/him/his): The occupancy for any spaces, the rate is 75% rather you're indoors or outdoors.
- [00:02:24.030]T.J. McDowell (he/him/his): And, and then the max number of people at a table or in a group is eight.
- [00:02:28.380]T.J. McDowell (he/him/his): For any event you're planning with 50 or more attendees, on or off campus, you must go through the university approval process to get that approved, including submitting your your risk mitigation efforts.
- [00:02:40.770]T.J. McDowell (he/him/his): And then at this time, travel outside Lincoln, Nebraska is not permitted at this time, except via an exemption. So that's the current
- [00:02:50.670]T.J. McDowell (he/him/his): Lancaster County health directives. Those have been unchanged since February 12.
- [00:02:55.440]T.J. McDowell (he/him/his): Again, we want to remind you that face coverings are required for all events indoors and outdoors.
- [00:03:02.790]T.J. McDowell (he/him/his): For any event with 50 or more participants an advisor or university employee is required to attend and that's whther you're on campus or off-campus.
- [00:03:11.310]T.J. McDowell (he/him/his): And then request for events with 50 or more participants, we want those to be approved prior to seven days prior to the event. So you need to work with your team and your planning process to make sure you start that process early enough that we can approve those.
- [00:03:26.580]T.J. McDowell (he/him/his): Seven days prior to the event schedule, I put this note on about formal dances we continue to get questions about it. At this point formal dances are not permitted.
- [00:03:38.280]T.J. McDowell (he/him/his): Okay, so there are some new event guidelines that I want to share with you. So these changes were recently approved allowing for more engagement opportunities in the following areas.
- [00:03:49.800]T.J. McDowell (he/him/his): Indoor team sports. So think intramural basketball and volleyball. Those that has been approved and we're working on finalizing communication and the protocols.
- [00:04:01.380]T.J. McDowell (he/him/his): And so that's in place we've made some adjustments to performance and rehearsals,
- [00:04:06.240]T.J. McDowell (he/him/his): events with shared equipment and promotional tabling. So there's some new guidelines guidance and expectations coming out about those.
- [00:04:12.840]T.J. McDowell (he/him/his): Please watch for additional information via email newsletter and websites. That information will probably come out before next week's webinar. So you may watch/see it
- [00:04:22.890]T.J. McDowell (he/him/his): via the website or an email or newsletter -- and then we will have more information about those events and what those protocols look like next week.
- [00:04:33.330]T.J. McDowell (he/him/his): Again, I want to draw draw your attention to available resources in terms of websites that are available to help you as you're planning events and things; and considerations you might need to do so successfully and safely.
- [00:04:47.130]T.J. McDowell (he/him/his): Okay, I ran through that pretty quickly. Are there any questions?
- [00:04:52.680]T.J. McDowell (he/him/his): That anyone has?
- [00:05:06.347]T.J. McDowell (he/him/his): Yes, please, Saisha.
- [00:05:08.430]Saisha (sigh-sha) Adhikari, she/her: Okay, so I wanted to ask.
- [00:05:11.520]Saisha (sigh-sha) Adhikari, she/her: Like for the randomized testing.
- [00:05:13.740]Saisha (sigh-sha) Adhikari, she/her: I know that
- [00:05:14.370]Saisha (sigh-sha) Adhikari, she/her: last semester it was through an email, and some people, just like said they didn't check their email, so that's why they didn't see it. So this semester, are they gonna be notified through a text or the app or what it what's the channel of communication?
- [00:05:27.750]T.J. McDowell (he/him/his): Saisha, that's a great question and i'm not 100% accurate, but I can tell you what -- this is what I understand. There's going to be an email notification.
- [00:05:34.050]T.J. McDowell (he/him/his): Also, the Safer Community app is also going to be pushing notifications to students about testing and so ou're on your home screen it'll show when you're needing to get tested. But I think emails and the app are going to be the primary ways for communication.
- [00:05:47.370]T.J. McDowell (he/him/his): And it starts tomorrow. Emails will go out tomorrow and then you'll have to schedule a time to be tested between Sunday and Wednesday.
- [00:05:55.980]T.J. McDowell (he/him/his): For those who get selected.
- [00:05:58.980]T.J. McDowell (he/him/his): And it is required. In the past it was voluntary. This this is required, you're, everyone is expected whether you're staff, students or faculty, to do it unless you already have an exemption for the test.
- [00:06:08.970]Saisha (sigh-sha) Adhikari, she/her: And that leads to my follow up question. So,
- [00:06:11.400]Saisha (sigh-sha) Adhikari, she/her: it's good it is required. What are, I mean obviously it's a violation of the Code of Conduct, right? If they don't comply so.
- [00:06:18.780]Saisha (sigh-sha) Adhikari, she/her: What is expected to happen?
- [00:06:21.420]T.J. McDowell (he/him/his): You know, I don't know. That goes to the conduct process and they would be denied entry potentially to buildings, programs activities if they don't comply with testing.
- [00:06:41.580]T.J. McDowell (he/him/his): Questions or comments?
- [00:06:55.260]T.J. McDowell (he/him/his): That'd be a really quick update if there are no more questions.
- [00:07:04.200]T.J. McDowell (he/him/his): And for those of you who don't know, Debbie is the one who does our approval, on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, so she's here.
- [00:07:11.220]T.J. McDowell (he/him/his): Melissa does a lot of work with organizations as you're planning events. This is a great resource for ourselves. Jake was a great resource for RHA. Last time I referred to it as RHO, but I think it's RHA.
- [00:07:27.600]T.J. McDowell (he/him/his): Carrie's on with facilities.
- [00:07:31.320]T.J. McDowell (he/him/his): So you have a number of people who are here to support you as you're planning events on campus.
- [00:07:40.110]T.J. McDowell (he/him/his): Okay, well, if there are no more questions or comments, we will wrap up for today we'll be back again.
- [00:07:46.890]T.J. McDowell (he/him/his): Next week, but as I said, please remember to to look for the email or the text or the the website information about those expanded engagement opportunities. And also, I want to encourage you to
- [00:08:00.840]T.J. McDowell (he/him/his): to participate in the random testing if you're selected, and encourage your peers to do so it's really important, and thank you all for joining us today.
