- [00:00:05.250]for the UNL CASNR Careers Office,
- [00:00:08.010]and I'm here today to help you register
- [00:00:10.070]for our virtual spring career fairs.
- [00:00:13.300]So as you can see, I'm at the careers.unl.edu website
- [00:00:16.730]here on the homepage,
- [00:00:18.120]and I'm just gonna click on Spring Career Fairs.
- [00:00:21.800]This is gonna give you a little bit more information
- [00:00:24.200]about our virtual spring career fair.
- [00:00:26.800]It is a four-day event taking place February 23rd
- [00:00:29.990]through the 26th from noon to four.
- [00:00:33.150]That doesn't mean that you're locked in all day long
- [00:00:35.920]for each event.
- [00:00:37.330]You can register for as many days as you want.
- [00:00:39.170]You can register for only one if you'd rather.
- [00:00:41.400]But each of your sessions are gonna be
- [00:00:43.070]around 10 to 15 minutes,
- [00:00:44.640]so you can schedule as many of those
- [00:00:46.590]or as little as you time.
- [00:00:48.350]And just a little tip.
- [00:00:49.850]Since it is a virtual career fair,
- [00:00:52.050]you still need to be business professional,
- [00:00:54.400]putting your best foot forward.
- [00:00:56.500]So I am just gonna click on one here.
- [00:00:58.950]I am going to look at day three.
- [00:01:04.270]Okay, and this is gonna give me
- [00:01:05.470]a little bit more information
- [00:01:06.750]about the career fair happening on day three.
- [00:01:09.980]Some of the employers attending,
- [00:01:11.580]Farmers Co-op, Neogen, Cargill,
- [00:01:14.910]lots of different ag opportunities
- [00:01:16.650]for something that I'm interested in.
- [00:01:18.740]So I'm gonna go ahead and click Register.
- [00:01:21.920]All right, so now I am registered for the event.
- [00:01:25.680]If you can't tell, I'm logged in to Handshake.
- [00:01:28.760]So all Huskers have a UNL Handshake account,
- [00:01:31.810]and it just takes you to that site when you hit register.
- [00:01:34.640]Log in with your Handshake equipment
- [00:01:36.560]and it'll keep pushing you forward.
- [00:01:38.760]So I'm gonna look at the employer sessions
- [00:01:41.050]because just that,
- [00:01:42.220]even though I'm registered for the career fair
- [00:01:44.550]doesn't necessarily mean that I am done
- [00:01:46.910]with the registration process.
- [00:01:48.400]I still need to make some individual appointments
- [00:01:50.500]with those employers.
- [00:01:53.230]So I am going to check out some different options here.
- [00:01:57.140]Okay, Farmer's Co-op, that looks like a great one for me
- [00:02:00.390]as I'm interested in agronomy and nutrition for cattle.
- [00:02:04.780]So right here, it shows that I can register
- [00:02:06.940]for a one-on-one event with an employer at Farmer's Co-op
- [00:02:10.870]or I can also attend a group session.
- [00:02:13.780]So those group sessions are 30-minute sessions.
- [00:02:16.880]These one-on-one sessions are 10-minute sessions.
- [00:02:20.370]So what I wanna give a little tip here,
- [00:02:23.030]recommend for you Huskers registering
- [00:02:26.230]for these career fairs.
- [00:02:27.880]Freshmen and sophomores,
- [00:02:29.080]the group session might be a little bit
- [00:02:30.880]of a better opportunity for you
- [00:02:32.470]if you're not looking for a job or internship right away.
- [00:02:36.720]Those are gonna be very similar
- [00:02:38.170]to an in-person career fair,
- [00:02:39.600]where lots of students are gonna walk up to the employer
- [00:02:42.050]and kinda chat for a little bit all together
- [00:02:44.910]and then you just kinda use that
- [00:02:47.020]as a network opportunity.
- [00:02:49.420]For you juniors and seniors
- [00:02:50.880]who are looking for internships right now,
- [00:02:52.590]looking for jobs right now,
- [00:02:54.210]these one-on-one sessions are good for you
- [00:02:55.990]because you're gonna be able to kinda sit down
- [00:02:57.770]and have almost like a mini-interview with those employers.
- [00:03:01.900]So you just click on the time that you want and hit Confirm.
- [00:03:07.230]And now I have a one-on-one session booked.
- [00:03:10.670]As a little bonus tip for all of you Huskers
- [00:03:12.840]looking for career fair tips,
- [00:03:15.020]I do want to recommend that you visit one of our resume labs
- [00:03:19.660]or make an individual appointment
- [00:03:21.560]with any of our peer career coaches, including myself.
