[00:00:06.970]your oral health needs.
[00:00:08.557]But if you're not brushing correctly,
[00:00:11.102]you might be damaging your teeth
[00:00:12.882]or gum tissue or not getting the full
[00:00:14.512]benefits. Here's some tips for the
[00:00:16.542]next time you brush your teeth.
[00:00:18.152]First, use a soft or extra-soft bristled
[00:00:21.534]toothbrush. You want to use a small
[00:00:24.533]amount of toothpaste, somewhere
[00:00:27.133]about the size of a pea.
[00:00:28.773]Start by brushing the outsides of your
[00:00:30.843]teeth. You want to aim your bristles at
[00:00:33.413]a 45-degree angle down toward the
[00:00:35.743]gumline and brush in gentle, circular
[00:00:39.169]motions. Do not scrub or you'll damage
[00:00:43.279]the gum tissue or the tooth structure.
[00:00:46.257]When you're done brushing, rinse your
[00:00:48.677]toothbrush under water and get all of the
[00:00:50.927]toothpaste out that you can.
[00:00:53.482]Then set it aside somewhere away from
[00:00:56.892]germs. Remember to replace your
[00:00:58.902]toothbrush when it's worn and frayed,
[00:01:01.396]after you're sick or if you've had it for
[00:01:04.246]three months, whichever comes first.
