- [00:00:02.703]Flossing is an essential part of a healthy
- [00:00:04.883]mouth, and it should be done once a day.
- [00:00:07.626]It helps remove the plaque between our
- [00:00:09.616]teeth where our toothbrush bristles
- [00:00:11.396]cannot reach. Here are a few tips on
- [00:00:13.926]flossing. First, you want to take floss
- [00:00:18.021]and take about 12 to 18 inches off, and
- [00:00:23.651]then you're going to wrap it around your
- [00:00:25.941]middle fingers. Once you are done, you're
- [00:00:30.511]going to take your thumb and index fingers
- [00:00:33.161]to hold the floss tight. Always start in
- [00:00:35.931]the same area. Gently go behind that last
- [00:00:41.131]tooth put the floss so that it goes below
- [00:00:45.131]that gum line in a C shape and rub up
- [00:00:49.026]and down the side of the tooth. Do that
- [00:00:52.160]two to three times. When you're done,
- [00:00:55.679]gently take a little piece off, get a new
- [00:00:59.189]piece and keep it between your index
- [00:01:01.259]fingers. Gently wiggle the floss between
- [00:01:04.819]your teeth. Do not snap it. Once the
- [00:01:07.929]floss is between your teeth, make a C
- [00:01:10.189]shape and rub the floss up and down
- [00:01:14.449]one side of the tooth two to three times.
- [00:01:17.394]After that is done, before you take it
- [00:01:19.714]out, just wrap the floss in a C shape
- [00:01:23.134]on the other side of the tooth and
- [00:01:25.404]rub up and down two to three times.
- [00:01:28.353]Continue this process on all of your teeth
- [00:01:32.058]until it is completed on top and bottom.
- [00:01:36.275]If you have trouble flossing, remember you
- [00:01:38.925]can always use a floss holder. Just use
- [00:01:41.881]the C shape technique and rub up and
- [00:01:44.721]down each side of the tooth.
