- [00:00:01.740]Welcome to bigger resilience
- [00:00:03.190]and "Wake Up to Well-being."
- [00:00:04.730]For today's "Wake Up to Well-being,"
- [00:00:06.270]we're going to talk about tips for better lists making.
- [00:00:09.180]Lists making is a great way
- [00:00:10.500]to stay on top of your stressful college schedules.
- [00:00:13.270]Making to-do lists in order to relieve some of your stress
- [00:00:15.900]may seem very old school,
- [00:00:17.600]yet lists can be one of your best time management tools.
- [00:00:20.410]Try out our tips when making
- [00:00:21.620]your next to-do list this semester,
- [00:00:23.630]to see if any of these tips work well for you.
- [00:00:27.040]Tip number one is to make a master list.
- [00:00:29.630]Making your master list is important
- [00:00:31.400]in order to help you create your daily to-do lists
- [00:00:33.680]much quicker and easier.
- [00:00:35.450]This is your primary list that will include
- [00:00:37.060]all of your deadline dates for assignments,
- [00:00:38.890]as well as exams and quizzes.
- [00:00:40.890]You may find it easier to use a monthly calendar
- [00:00:43.040]that you are able to carry around with you
- [00:00:45.080]as your master list.
- [00:00:48.620]Our second tip is to make yourself a daily to-do list,
- [00:00:51.510]with boxes for each task that you can check off as you go.
- [00:00:54.930]Using your master lists that you have created,
- [00:00:57.580]you will be able to see which items
- [00:00:59.020]need to have completed for that day
- [00:01:00.770]in order to stay on top of your assignments and exams.
- [00:01:04.760]I find it most effective myself
- [00:01:06.890]to write this out on a small piece of paper
- [00:01:08.650]or a post-it note.
- [00:01:09.630]But you can also make this list in your phone
- [00:01:12.080]as a note that you can ensure stays with you during the day.
- [00:01:15.160]Make sure to give yourself some time to complete this list.
- [00:01:18.040]Maybe 10 or 15 minutes each morning, or the night before,
- [00:01:20.970]to fill out what items you need to complete.
- [00:01:24.760]Tip number three is to take the big
- [00:01:26.690]or really important tasks
- [00:01:28.000]that may take up a lot of your time for that day,
- [00:01:30.230]and break them down into a number of small tasks
- [00:01:32.610]that you can check off of your list as you go through them.
- [00:01:35.660]This keeps you motivated
- [00:01:36.880]by being able to check off those small tasks.
- [00:01:39.320]It can also make a big, rather stressful assignment
- [00:01:41.900]or study session, seemed less stressful
- [00:01:44.500]and end up being even more effective
- [00:01:46.140]for your learning by doing this.
- [00:01:50.247]Giving yourself a break is just as important
- [00:01:52.210]as checking off all those things on your daily to-do list.
- [00:01:55.280]Taking time to get outside
- [00:01:56.720]or go hang out with a friend can help to boost your mood,
- [00:01:59.430]re-motivate you and reduce stress.
- [00:02:01.580]It may also help spark some creativity.
- [00:02:03.950]So don't forget to schedule some breaks
- [00:02:05.910]in your to-do list as well.
- [00:02:08.960]The fifth and final tip
- [00:02:10.180]is to keep your to-do list realistic.
- [00:02:12.430]Don't overload your day with tasks.
- [00:02:14.710]Creating a long list
- [00:02:15.880]or filling your list with multiple big projects
- [00:02:18.100]will only leave you less motivated to complete these tasks
- [00:02:21.120]and more stressed in the end.
- [00:02:23.170]Try to list just one big assignment or project
- [00:02:26.710]on your list for each day,
- [00:02:28.260]along with some other small, less time-consuming tasks.
- [00:02:31.850]The idea is using these lists
- [00:02:33.330]to motivate you and to make you more efficient,
- [00:02:35.450]not to stress you out further.
- [00:02:38.490]Hopefully you will find these few tips
- [00:02:40.280]more effective in making your to-do list,
- [00:02:42.870]leaving you feeling more in control
- [00:02:44.480]and less stressed out about meeting your deadlines
- [00:02:46.470]and preparing for exams.
- [00:02:48.390]Nothing works the same for everyone.
- [00:02:49.960]But if you give each suggestion a thought and a fair shot,
- [00:02:52.830]you may find certain tips
- [00:02:54.070]that you can incorporate into your own style
- [00:02:56.400]to help you with time management and stress reduction,
- [00:02:59.310]as you go about meeting your college deadlines.
- [00:03:02.090]Thanks for joining us today,
