- [00:00:00.890]Once you have inputted all of your personal information,
- [00:00:03.950]you then will be able to start
- [00:00:05.830]the application for admissions,
- [00:00:07.810]and really inputting all of that academic information.
- [00:00:11.310]The first question that you will be asked to answer
- [00:00:13.370]is which term would you like to apply for?
- [00:00:16.240]So, for this purpose of this application,
- [00:00:18.850]we are going to apply for the fall 2021 semester,
- [00:00:23.010]but you can also select any other term
- [00:00:25.030]that you would like to attend.
- [00:00:26.630]If you are a high-school student
- [00:00:29.040]and you are planning to graduate in May,
- [00:00:32.110]I would recommend applying for the fall 2021 term,
- [00:00:35.810]or the summer 2021 term,
- [00:00:38.150]but we're going to select fall.
- [00:00:44.760]Then, you have the option to share your application
- [00:00:47.750]with multiple different universities.
- [00:00:50.310]So, specifically the University of Nebraska systems.
- [00:00:54.560]When you share your application,
- [00:00:56.220]you are only having to pay for one application fee,
- [00:00:59.130]so you're only charged for that one $45 application fee.
- [00:01:02.800]So if you would like to apply
- [00:01:03.860]for University of Nebraska Carney,
- [00:01:06.070]University of Nebraska Omaha,
- [00:01:08.060]and the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture,
- [00:01:11.530]you can go ahead and select those now,
- [00:01:13.760]but we're just going to apply to UNL.
- [00:01:20.980]This is where you're able to select your major.
- [00:01:24.470]If you do not know what your major is,
- [00:01:26.310]you can go ahead and select undeclared.
- [00:01:31.570]But, you can also select a few other majors.
- [00:01:34.960]We have over 150 major options,
- [00:01:37.510]so it's really important to review our application first
- [00:01:41.060]so that you can select what major program
- [00:01:43.730]you would like to apply for.
- [00:01:45.640]We're going to go ahead and say that Herbie
- [00:01:47.410]wants to apply for pre-health.
- [00:01:57.540]This is when you get to input
- [00:01:59.040]all of your education experience.
- [00:02:02.230]So, you can put all your high-school information here.
- [00:02:07.470]When you have your high-school type, you have a few options.
- [00:02:10.510]So, if you received a GED certificate
- [00:02:12.850]or you were homeschooled,
- [00:02:13.970]you can go ahead and select that there,
- [00:02:16.350]but we're going to say that Herbie attended
- [00:02:18.040]a US high school.
- [00:02:22.350]You want to make sure that you put
- [00:02:23.610]the appropriate state right there,
- [00:02:27.020]and then you're able to look up your high school.
- [00:02:29.890]So, let's say that Herbie
- [00:02:35.320]attended Lincoln High School.
- [00:02:38.540]Then you can put your graduation date.
- [00:02:40.640]As you can see, you don't need to put a specific day.
- [00:02:43.540]You only need to put the month and the year.
- [00:02:46.610]So, Herbie is going to graduate
- [00:02:51.000]in May of 2021.
- [00:02:56.380]Then, you can input your high-school rank.
- [00:02:58.980]Sometimes you can find this on your transcript,
- [00:03:02.100]but other times your high school
- [00:03:03.910]might not actually do a class rank.
- [00:03:07.770]So if you have that information,
- [00:03:09.510]go ahead and put that there,
- [00:03:11.280]but you could also check this button
- [00:03:12.940]in case your high school does not rank.
- [00:03:20.990]Then you get to put in your GPA.
- [00:03:24.950]So, you have the option to do both weighted, unweighted,
- [00:03:28.700]or you can do either/or/or.
- [00:03:31.860]So, we're going to go ahead and say
- [00:03:33.720]we're going to input Herbie's unweighted GPA.
- [00:03:39.580]Most GPA scales are going to be on a four-point scale,
- [00:03:43.880]but they might be in a few different formats.
- [00:03:49.630]We're gonna say that Herbie's GPA is a 4.0.
- [00:03:57.044]Will Herbie graduate midterm?
- [00:03:59.160]Considering that he is graduating in may of 2021,
- [00:04:02.010]he will not be graduating midterm.
- [00:04:03.980]If you are graduating in the winter, then you would put yes.
- [00:04:10.430]When we put that Herbie had received some college credit,
- [00:04:13.370]we will then be asked colleges that Herbie had attended.
- [00:04:17.000]So, we're going to say that Herbie attended
- [00:04:20.660]a college for dual enrollment, in the state of Nebraska,
- [00:04:26.160]and it was Southeast Community College.
- [00:04:32.700]We can then put the start date.
- [00:04:34.160]Again, you don't need to have a specific day,
- [00:04:36.100]just the month and the year.
- [00:04:42.820]So we can go ahead and put that
- [00:04:45.150]Herbie had started in May of 2020,
- [00:04:50.870]and is going to end in May of 2021.
- [00:04:57.100]Then you get to put how many
- [00:04:58.350]total credit hours that were attempted.
- [00:05:00.920]Typically for credit hours,
- [00:05:02.810]these are on a three-point credit-
- [00:05:05.100]3.0 credit hours.
- [00:05:07.330]So, three credit hours per class.
- [00:05:10.200]So, we're going to say that Herbie tried
- [00:05:12.890]for nine credit hours,
- [00:05:15.350]which is going to be three classes.
- [00:05:18.170]Then, you can put your estimated cumulative GPA.
- [00:05:21.500]You can often find this on the transcript itself,
- [00:05:24.570]but if you have a good idea,
- [00:05:26.060]we can go ahead and put that there.
- [00:05:28.330]We're gonna say that Herbie has a 3.75.
- [00:05:33.170]Since Herbie will not be receiving a degree,
- [00:05:36.170]we will say that there is no degree happening.
- [00:05:38.820]So you don't need to select anything here.
- [00:05:41.780]If you did receive an associate's degree,
- [00:05:43.730]as you are a transfer student, go ahead and put that there.
- [00:05:49.260]You could also have the option to add another college,
- [00:05:52.400]but Herbie only received credit from Southeast Community.
- [00:06:01.410]This is when you get to put
- [00:06:02.760]your self-reported academic information.
- [00:06:06.170]I would say that it is very beneficial
- [00:06:08.090]to have your transcript right next to you
- [00:06:10.070]as you are inputting all of this.
- [00:06:12.230]But first and foremost,
- [00:06:13.340]let's really talk about what we're looking for here.
- [00:06:17.270]It's important for you to review
- [00:06:18.550]our admissions requirements
- [00:06:19.850]to see if you meet our admissions requirements,
- [00:06:21.650]specifically our core course requirements.
- [00:06:25.230]So, when you have the option to go in here and say,
- [00:06:28.807]"I took a class of English,"
- [00:06:32.810]a half of a unit is going to be a semester
- [00:06:35.690]if you are on a semester system,
- [00:06:38.170]or it's going to be a quarter if you're on a quarter system.
- [00:06:44.780]If you have taken a full entire year of English,
- [00:06:47.880]if you're on a semester system, that is one unit.
- [00:06:50.340]You can exchange, really, units for years.
- [00:06:53.600]But, if you are on a quarter system,
- [00:06:56.490]a full unit would be half of a year, so two quarters.
- [00:07:01.490]So Herbie took one unit or year of English
- [00:07:06.610]each year that he was in high school.
- [00:07:09.980]Now we are onto the math coursework section.
- [00:07:13.530]So as you can see, we have listed eighth and ninth grade,
- [00:07:16.440]as a lot of students might take algebra one or geometry
- [00:07:20.470]during their eighth-grade year.
- [00:07:22.490]So we're gonna say specifically for Herbie
- [00:07:24.950]that he took a year of algebra one in eighth grade,
- [00:07:29.850]then he took a year of geometry during ninth grade.
- [00:07:37.010]Then we're on to algebra two.
- [00:07:39.020]We're gonna say that Herbie took a year
- [00:07:41.370]in his 10th grade.
- [00:07:44.800]Then we have a couple of other options.
- [00:07:47.090]So as you can see, trigonometry, pre-calculus,
- [00:07:49.890]calculus, and upper level math,
- [00:07:51.580]so maybe a statistics or a college algebra class.
- [00:07:55.230]We're gonna say that during 12th grade,
- [00:07:58.810]Herbie took a year...
- [00:08:01.470]A half unit of statistics, rather,
- [00:08:04.580]and then took a half unit
- [00:08:08.700]of pre-calculus during 11th grade,
- [00:08:12.270]which would make it that Herbie has taken
- [00:08:14.690]four units, or years, of math.
- [00:08:21.830]Now we have social science,
- [00:08:23.330]and social science is not just history classes.
- [00:08:25.590]As you can see, it also can be psychology,
- [00:08:28.360]sociology, government, econ.
- [00:08:31.530]So, we're going to say
- [00:08:33.500]that Herbie took a history class his ninth-grade year.
- [00:08:38.130]Herbie took another history class during 10th grade.
- [00:08:43.130]And then, Herbie took a psychology class
- [00:08:46.940]for only a semester during 11th grade,
- [00:08:50.450]and then took government and politics
- [00:08:52.560]his 12th grade year for only a semester.
- [00:08:58.420]Now we have science.
- [00:09:01.760]So, we have general science would just be a general,
- [00:09:05.580]basic science course.
- [00:09:07.980]We have biology, chemistry, physics,
- [00:09:09.640]and anatomy and physiology.
- [00:09:11.950]So, we're gonna say that Herbie took a biology class
- [00:09:17.850]during his 10th grade,
- [00:09:20.570]took a chemistry class during 11th grade,
- [00:09:23.910]and then was able to take anatomy and a physiology class
- [00:09:28.530]during senior year.
- [00:09:32.110]As you can see, I am also inputting
- [00:09:34.550]all of Herbie's in-progress classes for his 12th grade year,
- [00:09:38.630]as these are classes that he plans to graduate with.
- [00:09:41.340]So when you're completing this section,
- [00:09:43.400]I want you to think about it as if
- [00:09:45.470]what you plan to graduate with?
- [00:09:47.490]So make sure your input your 12th grade coursework.
- [00:09:52.130]Now we have world language.
- [00:09:54.420]So, we're gonna say that Herbie took
- [00:09:57.120]a year of Spanish during his ninth grade,
- [00:10:01.890]and then a year for each year in high school as well.
- [00:10:08.170]Once you are done inputting
- [00:10:09.530]all of this academic information,
- [00:10:11.900]make sure that you go ahead and review your...
- [00:10:16.260]Your transcripts, and make sure that everything
- [00:10:18.360]reflects what you have taken.
- [00:10:19.940]And again, don't forget to input
- [00:10:22.420]your senior year course schedule.
- [00:10:26.640]After you have self-reported all of that information,
- [00:10:29.040]you will be asked to input your test scores.
- [00:10:31.730]So, you will go ahead and put your test date.
- [00:10:37.280]So, Herbie took it
- [00:10:40.070]in February
- [00:10:43.240]of 2019.
- [00:10:46.040]He took it early.
- [00:10:54.720]Then, you will input the ACT scores.
- [00:10:57.610]So, your composite score
- [00:10:59.480]is going to be that
- [00:11:00.920]high score that you really refer to all the time.
- [00:11:04.060]So, we're gonna say that Herbie got a 21 composite score.
- [00:11:08.730]Then you're gonna have to report each individual section.
- [00:11:13.190]So, we're just making these scores up,
- [00:11:16.080]but we're gonna say
- [00:11:17.560]that Herbie's very good at math.
- [00:11:30.137]And there is all of his scores.
- [00:11:33.390]You could also add another set of your ACT scores
- [00:11:36.240]if you've been able to take the ACT multiple times.
- [00:11:39.500]But again, it's important to note
- [00:11:41.290]that you can be admitted based off of your GPA alone,
- [00:11:44.520]as long as it's over a 3.0.
- [00:11:53.650]So, now we're going to answer a couple
- [00:11:55.640]of more personal questions,
- [00:11:57.460]so we will end this academic portion.
