- [00:00:45.850]The AFIRE Pledge Program promotes inclusive excellence
- [00:00:49.380]through conversations, learning, and connection.
- [00:00:52.570]Students, faculty and staff are encouraged
- [00:00:54.850]to attend three workshops or activities each semester.
- [00:00:58.770]There's some short term goals
- [00:01:00.110]specifically with the pledge program
- [00:01:02.140]that are about providing educational opportunities,
- [00:01:05.490]generating an energy about diversity
- [00:01:09.790]and inclusive excellence in the college
- [00:01:11.920]and helping people connect with
- [00:01:13.330]other folks who are also interested in this types of topics.
- [00:01:17.250]And then a longterm goal is to use those connections
- [00:01:22.510]and the knowledge and skills that we're learning
- [00:01:25.110]to really change the culture in the college,
- [00:01:27.410]to be more affirming for the depth and the breadth
- [00:01:30.470]of our students and employees here.
- [00:01:33.373](whooshing sound)
- [00:01:35.030]A leadership development program
- [00:01:36.770]will help enrich the experience of graduate students.
- [00:01:40.150]Community conversations and a needs assessment
- [00:01:43.120]will provide the foundation
- [00:01:44.550]for a robust inclusive leadership program
- [00:01:47.470]shaped to the needs of the campus.
- [00:01:49.870]The ultimate goal for our initiative
- [00:01:52.060]is to develop an inclusive leadership experience
- [00:01:56.020]for graduate students, as there are future faculty
- [00:01:59.360]and leaders across various disciplines worldwide, even.
- [00:02:03.200]So we wanted to provide an opportunity
- [00:02:05.490]for them to become more culturally competent leaders
- [00:02:08.111]and team members in culturally diverse organization.
- [00:02:11.970]The Inclusive Excellence Collaboration Award

- [00:02:39.610]helped Emma Franklin forge connections with the law college
- [00:02:43.110]when she was an undergraduate
- [00:02:44.830]at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
- [00:02:47.640]I think that direct connection
- [00:02:49.610]between my undergrad at UNO and Nebraska Law
- [00:02:53.700]was really valuable.

- [00:03:00.500]at the University of Nebraska Kearney

- [00:03:19.750]that pipeline of students
- [00:03:21.230]who are interested in that from the very beginning.
- [00:03:23.610]And then they come here and get a great legal education
