- [00:00:03.265]We're located outside of Ogallala, NE
- [00:00:05.323]which is four and a half hours west of
- [00:00:07.241]Lincoln, NE.
- [00:00:09.127]Every summer, Cedar Point offers around
- [00:00:11.245]16 different courses over four sessions
- [00:00:14.058]where students have the opportunity to
- [00:00:16.155]learn in the field while fulfilling degree
- [00:00:18.276]and ACE requirements.
- [00:00:20.449]To meet the needs of the station's users,
- [00:00:22.847]Cedar Point hires student interns who keep
- [00:00:25.322]the station running throughout the summer.
- [00:00:27.830]These student interns are paid,
- [00:00:29.786]receive free housing and meals, and
- [00:00:31.485]can receive credit towards their degree.
- [00:00:33.840]Interns also have the option of taking
- [00:00:36.427]courses at the station or online while
- [00:00:38.978]working at Cedar Point.
- [00:00:41.094]The hospitality internships that are
- [00:00:43.026]offered here include working in the
- [00:00:44.718]kitchen, lodging, and events.
- [00:00:47.308]Interns who work in the kitchen perform a
- [00:00:49.456]variety of tasks throughout the summer.
- [00:00:51.722]These include learning the basics of a
- [00:00:53.881]kitchen while preparing daily meals,
- [00:00:55.911]employee scheduling, meal planning, and
- [00:00:58.940]staff management.
- [00:01:00.599]Your level of responsibility is dependent
- [00:01:03.161]on your internship level.
- [00:01:04.684]Lodging interns create a detailed housing
- [00:01:07.345]chart, help facilitate move in during each
- [00:01:09.574]session, order inventory, and ensure that
- [00:01:12.253]the facilities stay maintained through
- [00:01:14.383]proper housekeeping procedures.
- [00:01:16.936]Finally, the events intern manages
- [00:01:19.266]social media accounts, organizes events,
- [00:01:22.135]and documents the summer
- [00:01:23.478]through photography.
- [00:01:25.144]These internships can be customized to fit
- [00:01:27.544]your career goals, schedule, and
- [00:01:29.697]degree requirements.
- [00:01:31.282]Cedar Point also offers other internships
- [00:01:33.985]outside of hospitality which include
- [00:01:36.120]habitat management, facilities management,
- [00:01:38.680]and sustainability.
- [00:02:11.517]During your stay at Cedar Point, you will
- [00:02:13.563]receive free housing and meals.
- [00:02:15.920]Cabins provide a rustic experience as well
- [00:02:18.636]as beautiful views of the lake.
- [00:02:44.506]When you're not working, there's plenty
- [00:02:46.467]of activities to keep you busy.
- [00:02:48.498]You can kayak or canoe, hike, swim in
- [00:02:52.175]Lake McConaughy, camp on the beach,
- [00:02:54.422]or go into Ogallala for dinner.
- [00:02:57.214]Our campus consists of almost 1,000 acres
- [00:03:00.430]of Nebraska forest and prairie, so there's
- [00:03:02.740]plenty to explore.
