In this video you will learn how to generate schedules, view schedule options, and create a favorite schedule in the enrollment scheduler.

[00:00:03.000]Now that you've planned out the classes
[00:00:04.680]that you'd like to take next semester,
[00:00:06.850]let's look at generating some schedules, viewing them,
[00:00:10.420]and creating a favorite schedule.
[00:00:13.140]So once you're back on the main page,
[00:00:15.200]you'll click the Generate Schedules button.
[00:00:17.930]This is gonna find all
[00:00:19.320]of the possible schedule options associated
[00:00:21.850]with this particular group of classes.
[00:00:25.020]You can see that 1000 options have been generated.
[00:00:28.790]In a previous video, we learned how to add breaks.
[00:00:32.160]I'm gonna select a work break
[00:00:36.052]and click the Generate Schedules button again,
[00:00:38.680]and it's narrowed our search down to 380.
[00:00:41.890]That's still a lot of schedules,
[00:00:44.120]but it's a lot more manageable than 1000.
[00:00:47.730]You can view a snapshot of each schedule
[00:00:50.610]by hovering over the magnifying glass.
[00:00:53.540]If you'd like to compare more than one of those schedules,
[00:00:57.100]you can click on the button next
[00:00:59.810]to the magnifying glass and the Compare button.
[00:01:03.390]You can only compare up to four schedules.
[00:01:07.011]Now, once you're in this view,
[00:01:09.520]you can hover over the colored boxes
[00:01:11.980]and see what each colored box represents.

[00:01:27.536]When we're viewing the schedule,
[00:01:29.900]you'll see the list of classes,
[00:01:32.300]and chemistry is listed three times,
[00:01:34.830]that's because it has a lecture component,
[00:01:37.850]a recitation component, and a lab component.
[00:01:41.580]You won't remember adding the recitation in your schedule
[00:01:44.640]because it is automatically listed with the lecture.
[00:01:49.740]A recitation is a small group of students
[00:01:52.430]from the larger lecture class that gets together once a week
[00:01:56.410]to discuss the material.
[00:01:58.280]It is a required component in this course.
[00:02:02.360]Not all classes with labs have a recitation,
[00:02:06.140]and not all classes with recitations have a lab,
[00:02:09.930]it's just something only to watch for on your schedule.
[00:02:14.090]In this view we also see
[00:02:15.510]how many seats are open in each section,
[00:02:18.670]and the times that the class meets the instructor,
[00:02:23.090]how many credits each class is worth.
[00:02:25.850]For example, the recitation
[00:02:28.190]for chem 109 is worth zero credits.
[00:02:31.520]The lecture is three credits
[00:02:33.900]and the recitation is part of the lecture.
[00:02:36.660]There are a total of 13 credits on our schedule right now.
[00:02:43.130]You can see the different blocks
[00:02:45.520]and where each each class meets on the picture view.
[00:02:50.430]And if you click the i,
[00:02:52.010]it gives you more information about the class.
[00:02:57.310]If you see a class that you like, the time,
[00:03:00.220]the location, the instructor, whatever reason,
[00:03:03.540]you can select the lock button.
[00:03:06.450]This means that we've narrowed our results
[00:03:09.070]from 380 to 82,
[00:03:12.140]because now the generator is only looking
[00:03:14.450]at schedules with this section of English 150.
[00:03:19.520]If we want to move through the schedules
[00:03:23.500]without going back to the main page,
[00:03:25.980]we can use the arrow buttons
[00:03:28.070]at the top and see the different schedule options.
[00:03:32.060]We can also use the Shuffle function,
[00:03:35.050]so it will take us from 41 to a completely different number,
[00:03:38.980]it won't go to 42.
[00:03:40.280]See, it's gone to 80.
[00:03:41.920]You can look at that schedule.
[00:03:44.960]Now, I really like the way the schedule looks,
[00:03:47.170]so I'm gonna make it a favorite.
[00:03:52.500]And this shaded heart indicates that it's a favorite.
[00:03:56.550]When I go back, if I want to find my favorite schedule
[00:04:01.520]and I don't remember which number it was,
[00:04:03.950]I could go to the Favorite tab
[00:04:06.030]and go right to that schedule I liked.
[00:04:08.720]And you can create multiple favorites,
[00:04:11.070]you can delete favorites.
[00:04:14.420]Now let's say that I decide I don't want
[00:04:16.930]to take arts alive at Nebraska for my ACE seven,
[00:04:21.470]and I want to take history of rock music instead.
[00:04:25.690]I've gone back into Add Courses,
[00:04:28.850]and I'm selecting 287.
[00:04:34.580]I can, at this point, remove arts alive at Nebraska
[00:04:39.400]as an option in my courses or I can leave it
[00:04:43.220]and have both of them.
[00:04:46.360]To exclude music 171 from my search,
[00:04:50.850]I can uncheck it and click Generate again.
[00:04:55.290]Now I have 218 schedules.
[00:04:58.720]You'll see that English 150 is still locked,
[00:05:02.450]so that carries over.
[00:05:04.680]You can unlock from this screen,
[00:05:08.600]but you can't lock it again until you're back in a schedule.
[00:05:12.830]And you'll see that it's jumped to 994 now.
[00:05:21.820]So if we look at this,
[00:05:23.680]you'll see that instead of music 171,
[00:05:28.710]we now have music 287 listed in the schedule,
[00:05:35.020]but if we go back to Favorites,
[00:05:40.033]we still have our favorite schedule that had music 171.
[00:05:46.220]So there are a lot of different ways you can search
[00:05:49.220]for classes and change things around as you go.
