[00:00:38.430]or prepares individuals for what they may experience.

[00:00:45.590]well look how they speak in this context
[00:00:47.350]or how they speak in this context
[00:00:48.840]or how they dress in this context.
[00:00:50.910]Like, they're just trying to play up
[00:00:52.700]this part of their identity, listen we all do that.
[00:00:55.710]Like we all talk in different ways
[00:00:57.240]depending on who we're with.
[00:00:58.812]And so this mixed racial on ethnic background
[00:01:03.240]sometimes as used by others, is another way
[00:01:07.054]to delegitimize someone
[00:01:09.590]and question their authenticity.
[00:01:14.500]One of the things we talk about a lot
[00:01:16.940]is that you have to do something.
[00:01:19.600]You can't rage simply on social media.
[00:01:23.440]You can't get upset about this at the dinner table.
[00:01:28.268]If my kids were here they would probably say,
[00:01:30.210]if you're gonna complain about something,
[00:01:31.450]the first thing dad's gonna do is say,
[00:01:32.690]okay, what have you done about it?
[00:01:35.010]And that's something that I really challenge them to do
[00:01:37.990]and whatever the cause is, do something.
