- [00:00:04.190]This is a Shinya Takahashi from Nutrition and Health Sciences.

- [00:00:09.790]my role is Associate Professor of Practice and also Assistant Department Chair.
- [00:00:16.430]I teach undergraduate courses and I have administrative duties.
- [00:00:22.310]Um, NEHS Nutrition and Health Science, Nutrition,
- [00:00:27.230]Exercise, and Health Sciences. This is the option. Uh,
- [00:00:31.670]one of the most diverse option as that name indicates that nutrition and
- [00:00:37.610]exercise together, right?
- [00:00:40.040]So it's really a diverse and it's really flexible program we have.
- [00:00:46.580]And many students, uh, as a matter of fact,
- [00:00:48.950]that take this option to meet, uh, prerequisites
- [00:00:52.940]courses if, if a students are looking for health,
- [00:00:56.720]professional schools after they graduate from here.
- [00:01:00.080]So a lot of our students after they graduate from here going to PT school, OT
- [00:01:05.030]school, maybe PA school and so on.
- [00:01:08.300]So this program N E H S option is really suitable for those individuals looking
- [00:01:15.350]for health professional, uh, option in the future.
- [00:01:20.360]And also, uh, we have a great opportunities, uh,
- [00:01:24.110]for other students who are interested in personal training,
- [00:01:29.090]uh, strengths and conditioning, as you know,
- [00:01:31.340]that the UNL strength and the conditioning program was, um,
- [00:01:35.330]basically a born here at the UNL back in the sixties.
- [00:01:40.580]So there are a lot of opportunities for you to get involved to that,
- [00:01:44.930]a strength and conditioning area as well.
- [00:01:48.050]And also the expansion of the, uh, East of stadium. Uh,
- [00:01:52.490]several years ago, we have N A P L,
- [00:01:55.940]which is a Nebraska Athletic Performance Lab.
- [00:01:59.000]They have a sports scientist working on that, um,
- [00:02:02.480]various different, uh, studies,
- [00:02:06.380]so students can get involved with too that, uh,
- [00:02:08.720]data collection analyzing the data, uh, and so on. So, uh,
- [00:02:13.260]that opportunities as well, and behind me,
- [00:02:16.820]I need to go this way behind me. There's a, uh,
- [00:02:20.780]the sketch of a new Mabel Lee Hall,
- [00:02:24.590]which is located, uh,
- [00:02:26.060]Roughly at 14th and Vine Street just across the street of a, uh,
- [00:02:30.810]a campus rec or a Cook, uh, Pavilion.
- [00:02:35.240]This is a brand new, uh, um, uh,
- [00:02:37.370]building we are going to build is actually as matter of fact, uh,
- [00:02:41.330]the construction is going on right now.
- [00:02:44.240]It will take about the two years to, uh, finish this,
- [00:02:47.990]but there are a lot of construction going on on campus. And this,
- [00:02:52.190]Mabel Lee is a, one of the, uh, uh, building we, uh,
- [00:02:56.660]frequently use for our classrooms and exercise physiology perspective.
- [00:03:02.080]We will have a brand new exercise physiology lab there as well.
- [00:03:06.610]So there are exciting opportunities out there and for students and,
- [00:03:12.970]uh, or faculty members here. Um, but, uh,
- [00:03:16.390]as we know that the COVID-19 changed our lives quite dramatically.
- [00:03:21.790]And when you are transitioning from high school to college,
- [00:03:25.150]I understand that that, you know, there are a lot of excitement,
- [00:03:28.180]but also at the same time, you guys have a, a lot of anxiety.
- [00:03:34.000]Uh, we are here to help. So if you have any questions,
