[00:00:06.370]I'm an assistant professor of practice

[00:00:09.500]and also the center of sales excellence.
[00:00:11.720]I really, truly, hope that I get to see all of you
[00:00:14.050]in my class here in the upcoming years.
[00:00:18.141]When I entered as a freshman,
[00:00:19.461]I wish I had known so much more
[00:00:21.411]and had available to me the resources
[00:00:23.570]that you have available to me.
[00:00:25.110]I just wanted to remind you of a couple of things today,
[00:00:27.990]as you enter in your freshman year, in a lot of uncertainty,
[00:00:31.530]in a lot of confusion.
[00:00:34.320]The first thing is that,
[00:00:35.670]there are a ton of resources available to you
[00:00:39.990]at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln,
[00:00:41.420]and then also within the college of business.
[00:00:44.070]These things can help you find clubs to belong to,
[00:00:47.490]they can help you choose the best avenue of study,
[00:00:50.970]they can help you with your studies,
[00:00:53.040]and with your academics,
[00:00:55.620]and they can help you get experience
[00:00:57.170]to put on your resume before you go look for a job
[00:00:59.030]and they can help you find a job.
[00:01:00.520]There are tons of resources available to you,
[00:01:02.650]so please, seek them out and use them,
[00:01:04.310]they're there for you.
[00:01:05.600]The next thing is, while you're at the university,
[00:01:09.980]get involved in things that you're passionate in
[00:01:12.840]and get involved in associations and groups
[00:01:16.090]that represent kind of interests that you have.
[00:01:19.460]Make sure that you're doing things that you love,
[00:01:21.560]doing things that you enjoy.
[00:01:23.320]There is an incredibly long list of associations and clubs,
[00:01:27.728]and fraternities, and sororities,
[00:01:29.580]and all sorts of different things
[00:01:30.660]that you can get involved in,
[00:01:31.680]get involved in those things.
[00:01:33.760]The last thing,
[00:01:34.593]and I wish I had done a better job of this
[00:01:35.970]while I was at college,
[00:01:36.890]and I hope my daughter who is soon to go to college,
[00:01:39.100]does a better job of this,
[00:01:40.150]but call home, stay in touch, right?

[00:01:44.320]Your parents are also an incredible support system,
[00:01:46.520]your friends are an incredible support system,
[00:01:48.520]and guess what?
[00:01:49.440]They all miss you a great deal,
[00:01:50.590]and they want to hear from you.

[00:01:53.850]that you should lose during your career at UNL.
