- [00:00:04.160]This is a Shinya Takahashi from Nutrition and Health Sciences.
- [00:00:08.990]And I teach a Nutrition 100,
- [00:00:11.390]which is a healthy living and also Nutrition 150,
- [00:00:15.500]which is a career preparation in Nutrition in Health Sciences.
- [00:00:20.660]A little bit about the Nutrition 100, Nutrition 100. Um,
- [00:00:24.860]the title indicates that, uh, healthy living. So, uh,
- [00:00:29.510]we will focus on, um, exercise habits,
- [00:00:34.160]nutrition habits, and then also being a wise consumer.
- [00:00:39.320]Uh, we, we'll discuss that, uh, stress management. Uh,
- [00:00:43.430]we will talk about the mental health. We're going to talk about, uh,
- [00:00:47.630]drug use and misuse all of those, um, uh,
- [00:00:52.490]topics. We will cover for the course now,
- [00:00:54.980]because, because of that COVID-19 situation. At this point,
- [00:00:59.750]uh, we are planning on teaching the remotely and like this, you know,
- [00:01:04.550]maybe once weekly basis, we're going to meet, um, over the internet,
- [00:01:09.350]uh, zoom conference like this, so we can meet the students. Um,
- [00:01:14.360]and, uh, we will have a Q and A's, uh,
- [00:01:18.050]maybe we can work on some of the practice problems and so on.
- [00:01:22.040]So, that's the format we are planning on doing this coming fall. Now,
- [00:01:26.420]on the other hand, a Nutrition 150,
- [00:01:28.610]this is career preparation in Nutrition and Health Sciences.
- [00:01:34.160]I know that a lot of students take this measure as a stepping stone to get into
- [00:01:40.010]a health professional schools in a,
- [00:01:42.440]we have a lot of students interested in PT,
- [00:01:45.200]maybe OT PA, and a medical school,
- [00:01:47.990]maybe even a dental school and so on. So we will discuss that.
- [00:01:52.880]Um, um, how you can get prepared.
- [00:01:56.420]You are to get into that a PT school health professional schools.
- [00:02:01.310]Yes. How you can differentiate yourself from other candidates as you know,
- [00:02:06.110]that the, um, you know, getting into the, um, uh,
- [00:02:08.670]health professional schools are really, really, uh, competitive.
- [00:02:12.560]So we will discuss that in the,
- [00:02:14.060]we will have a series of guest speakers come into the classroom and they will
- [00:02:18.710]talk about, uh, how they get prepared, uh,
- [00:02:22.970]and what kind of education, and a training, shadowing hours, volunteer work in the
- [00:02:28.580]community. Uh, they will discuss those things. So, uh,
- [00:02:33.470]not only, uh, health professionals,
- [00:02:35.150]but also we will have a strength and conditioning coach come in.
- [00:02:39.170]And also we will have a sports dietician coming in and also we will have a
- [00:02:43.940]clinical dietician coming in and, uh, all TPD, as I said,
- [00:02:48.650]um, uh, coming into the classroom to talk about the, how they got,
- [00:02:53.660]uh, prepared for, uh, their career they have right now.
- [00:02:57.950]So we will have a series of, uh, guest speakers. And I think in the past, uh,
- [00:03:02.970]uh, not about students like that, uh, um, you know, uh, faster hand,
- [00:03:08.020]uh, talk from those guest speakers. So we'll,
- [00:03:11.740]we'll have a fun for that class and Nutrition 150,
- [00:03:15.310]not only we want the students to be successful after they graduate from here,
- [00:03:20.830]but also while they are in the classroom while they are taking, uh,
- [00:03:25.030]classes on campus, I want,
- [00:03:27.880]we want them to be as successful as well. So we will discuss that,
- [00:03:31.630]how it can be successful, why are they working on that, their majors.
- [00:03:35.740]So, a lot of fun and, um, uh,
- [00:03:39.250]I'm really interested in, uh, what you want to be after you graduate from here.
- [00:03:44.500]And, um, if you want to talk to, uh, your future,
- [00:03:49.120]um, uh, just come to my office, you know, just make appointment with me,
- [00:03:53.140]shoot the email to me and just come to my office and then we can talk about that
- [00:03:57.580]and what I can suggest as some of the things you can do. Why you, uh, uh,
- [00:04:02.470]in, in college. So, uh, that's something I enjoy doing that. So,
