Using Rapid Scan & Lysimeters in Corn Trial
Description
Richard Little, agronomy and horticulture, shows how a rapid scan instrument measures infrared rapid light which can give a measure of how much nitrogen is in a corn stock. Lysimeters collect water samples to be analyzed in the lab for nitrate content. Little is assisting Javed Iqbal, agronomy and horticulture nutrient management and water quality specialist, and agronomy graduate student Will Neels. Iqbal has started a nitrogen rate and timing trial in corn which focuses on the efficient utilization of fertilizer nitrogen with right source, time and rate of fertilizer applications.
