- [00:00:03.720]My name is Renee Hyde.
- [00:00:04.990]I'm a professor of practice
- [00:00:06.330]for the Department of Educational Administration
- [00:00:08.870]with the College of Education and Human Sciences.
- [00:00:12.720]Prior to arriving at the university,
- [00:00:15.220]I was an assistant superintendent of human resources
- [00:00:18.260]for Pavillion lavista Community Schools.
- [00:00:22.570]I had Human Resources,
- [00:00:26.540]Student Services and Technology under my umbrella.
- [00:00:29.570]Prior to that I was a superintendent of schools
- [00:00:32.010]in three different smaller schools
- [00:00:33.830]across the state of Nebraska.
- [00:00:35.670]Prior to that, I was a science teacher.
- [00:00:38.140]I recently arrived at the university
- [00:00:40.910]and my focus will be outreach and support services
- [00:00:45.490]to new and emerging leaders across the state,
- [00:00:49.680]particularly people who want to become superintendents,
- [00:00:53.650]reaching out to both urban suburban and rural.
- [00:00:57.590]My roots are in rural Nebraska.
- [00:00:59.500]I grew up Sand Hills are up them in Loup County, Nebraska.
- [00:01:03.650]And so to be able to outreach
- [00:01:05.620]and provide some support, and pay it forward,
- [00:01:09.080]because there were many people
- [00:01:10.240]who supported me when I began as well.
- [00:01:12.860]One of the things that has really impressed me
- [00:01:14.950]about the Department of Education
- [00:01:17.030]is how well those who do the research,
- [00:01:20.460]and the deep dives into information,
- [00:01:23.480]collaborate with those of us
- [00:01:25.040]who are professors of practice,
- [00:01:26.750]and allow us then to have the latest,
- [00:01:30.450]best information to be able to share with those
- [00:01:32.720]who were in the field.
- [00:01:34.380]I think a student who's going to be successful
- [00:01:37.010]is someone who is curious, someone who's passionate,
- [00:01:41.230]someone who cares very deeply about children and families
- [00:01:45.930]and wants to support them
- [00:01:47.510]and help them find ways to navigate the world
- [00:01:52.290]so that they can be successful
- [00:01:53.800]as they leave our PK 12 environment
- [00:01:56.670]and move forward with a career,
- [00:01:58.870]with military or with College.
- [00:02:01.240]I've always appreciated those
- [00:02:02.940]who were willing to open their door and have conversations
- [00:02:06.440]with those of us here at the university.
- [00:02:09.240]I think that's what makes us a rich state,
- [00:02:12.490]these interconnections among all of us.
- [00:02:15.820]So to continue to be on that path of collaboration
- [00:02:19.820]is very important to me and I hope that
- [00:02:22.850]that will continue as I embark upon
- [00:02:25.860]this career as a professor.
